  • The purpose of study was to analyze the ecological health of the Namcheon Stream using Index of Biotic Integrity(IBI) Qualitative Habitate Evaluation Index(QHEI) and Water quality condition. Diatom samples were collected from ten sampling sites in the stream at total four times in 2006 and 2007. To assess ecological health of the stream, it was used modify metrics proposed by USEPA(1999). IBI values of the stream averaged 23 which was judged as a "fair". Physical habitate evaluation analysis showed that QHEI values in the stream averaged 57 indicating a "poor" condition. Water quality condition in the stream averaged "II" indicating a "a little good" condition In conclusion, ecological health of the Namcheon Stream was "fair" condition that means habitate minimally disturb in the aquatic environment and relatively good water quality. Especially, St. 6 St. 7, St. 8, and St. 9 showed that QHEI values in the stream averaged 47 indicating a "poor" condition. St. 6 exists mostly to interfere with the flow of the river piers and artificial beams around. They are also serious disturbance at riverbed structure in aquatic ecosystems. St. 10 was good about habitate condition however, it was disturbance of aquatic ecosystems due to nutrient. It is suggest that St. 10 needs to be managed for nutrient inflows.

  • Human activity such as agriculture, industrial development and urban sprawl has been the major threat to wetlands ecosystem, which have caused the greatest losses of coastal wetlands. The Garorim bay provides one of the most important wetland habitate and Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries designated Garorim bay to marine ecosystem protected area in July 2016. The purpose of this research is to analysis the spatial pattern of Garorim bay using Landsat 5 (TM), Landsat 7 (ETM+), Landsat 8 (OLI & TIRS). The surface temperature and NDVI of Garorim bay were processed with spatial analysis method and time series analysis were applied to 25 years Landsat satellite 19 images. The results of time series distribution map compared with the several wetland habitate on remotely sensed images. Landsat images showed the change area of wetland vegetation distribution from 1988 to 2014. The southern part habitate of Garorim bay have been changed with vegetation patterns on coastal wetland which were covered with tidal flat.

  • Conditions of farm crop switching are affected by several important external factors such as agricultural products import opening, policy support, and climate change. Farming environment is always changing; barriers to imports are becoming lower and lower because of FTA and others, and climate change affects a boundary line of cultivation. Those situations give farmers motivation to change crops in order to cope with them. In addition, crop switching has been done in response to the local government measures about purchase of local agricultural products according to the local food and the expansion of organic agricultural products in school meal. Even though the favorable environment toward crop switching has been created, there are not many researches or outcomes regarding crop switching. Only few studies focus on the list of decision-making in crop switching, and locally suitable crop selection is not treated. In order to utilize crop switching as a farm management strategy, the proper frame should be studied and practical researches on application possibility also need. Therefore, study on crop switching is in a timely, proactive manner because farms catch the chance of expansion of school meal by changing crops. This paper applies HERO model used for venture foundation process to crop switching process. Success factors of HERO model are comprised of Habitate, Entrepreneurship, Resource, and Opportunity, and these phased application factors are applied to crop switching process. By doing so, each phase success factor of crop switching can be uncovered. Three farm organizations supplying organic agricultural products to schools are studied in Gyeonggi province. As a result, the stabilization stage cannot be achieved because of the habitate conditions and social conditions with low risk bearing of crop switching and current school meal systems are the main problems to block the diversification of risks. In order to succeed in crop switching, constructing the habitate in local districts or in systems of school meal is more effective than supporting each farm.

  • The chemical water quality and fish assemblage of Dong Stream to assessment of environmental improvement after discharge seawater were investigated from July to December 2013. BOD and DO were significantly different between before and after discharge seawater, while pH and SS did not significant. A total of 11 fish species, 218 individuals and 10,525.1g were collected. Dominant fish species were Mugil cephalus, Konosirus punctatus, Acanthogobius flavimanus and Leiognathus nuchalis which account for 77.5% of total individuals collected, and they were estuarian species. Peak number of species and individuals, and biomass occurred in September, whereas diversity index were highest in November. The water ecosystem of Dong Stream have been changed estuarian environment. As a result of stream assessment on water quality and ecosystem, water quality have been improved as 'III' grade. These results suggested that stream restoration policies such as drain pipes maintenance, management of pollution sources and riverbed dredging to improve environment and recover habitate of Dong Stream were need for set up and establishment of regular monitoring system.

  • A quantitative analysis was conducted to study the impacts of artificial flow alteration on fish habitate condition change in the Geum River downstream the Daechung Multi-purpose Dam (DMD). River Analysis Package (RAP) was employed for the analysis and three fish species of black shiner, long nose barbel and Korean shinner were selected as icon species. The results of the analysis showed enhaced fish habitat conditions during low flow seasons in spring and fall after DMD construction, while the impact of the Youngdam Multipurpose Dam located upstream the DMD was insignificant. This result could be attributed to the fact that the increased flow during dry seasons helped create preferable habitat conditions for the fish species tested in this study.

  • The thing that should be considered preferentially when we introduce sounds to the space we are living in is to clarify the notion - for whom when, what kinds of sounds, where, for what and how to. There are two physical habitate conditions which affect the quality of soundscape. The one is 'Background sound' of the space which should be masked or applied in accordance with its qualify. The other is features of the habitat which would be the factor building up ambience and the index for us to decide specificities of the sounds to be introduced. Selecting or producing the sounds to be introduced, we should consider those to make these represent the community, influence people's behavior, be in harmony with surroundings, and give the identity to the space. There are two ways to introduce the sounds. The one is to put sound sources which actually make the sound. The other is to put the sounds without practical sound source but with objects related to those. For later, it's important not to introduce the sounds people prefer but what would be in harmony with the place. In this study, we've researched what kinds of sounds could be utilized for soundscape designing. And, we've studied if those can be, how those should be introduced and what other factors should be considered.

  • Objectives : Official Arisaematis Rhizoma is described only three species, Arisaema amurnse, Arisaema erubescens, and Arisaema heterophyllum, in national Pharmacopoeia. However, other Arisaema species, Arisaema ringens, Arisaema takesimense and Arisaema serratum, also have been distributed as an inauthentic Arisaematis Rhizoma in the herbal market. To develop a reliable molecular authentication method for Arisaematis Rhizoma in species level, we analyzed DNA barcode regions using six Arisaema species. Methods : Thirty-eight samples of six Arisaema plants species (A. amurense, A. amurense f. serratum, A. heterophyllum, A. takesimense, and A. serratum) were collected from different habitate and nucleotide sequences of DNA barcode regions (rDNA-ITS, matK, and rbcL gene) were analyzed after PCR amplification. The species-specific sequences and phylogenetic relations were estimated using entire sequences of three DNA barcodes based on the analysis of ClastalW and UPGMA, respectively. Results : The comparative analysis of DNA barcode sequences were revealed inter-species specific nucleotides to distinguish the medicinal plant of Arisaema Rhizoma in species levels excluding between A. amurense and its subspecies (A. amurense f. serratum) and A. takesimense and A. serratum, respectively. However, we obtained sequence differences enough to discriminate authentic and inauthentic Arisaematis Rhizoma. Therefore, we suggest that these SNP type molecular genetic markers were an reliable method avaliable to identify official herbal medicines. Conclusions : These marker nucleotides could be useful to identify the official herbal medicines by providing definitive information that can identify original medicinal plant and distinguish from inauthentic adulterants and substitutes.
