광웨이브렛 원형고조 정합필터를 이용한 회전불변 패턴인식 (Rotation-invariant pattern recognition using an optical wavelet circular harmonic matched filter)

  • The rotation-invariant pattern recognition filter using circular harmonic function of the wavelet transforme dsreference image by morlet, mexican-hat, and haar wavelt function is proposed. The rotated reference images, the images sililar to the reference image, and the images which are added by random noise are used for the inpt images, and in case of the input images with random noise, they are applied to the recognition after removing the random noise by the transformed moving average method with proper thresholding value and window size. The proposed optical wavelet circular harmonic matched filter (WCHMF) is a type of the matche dfilter, so that it can be applied to the 4f vander lugt optical correlation system. SNR and discrimination capability of the proposed filter are compared with those of the conventional HF, the POCHF, and the BPOCHF. The proper wavelet function for the reference image used in this paper is achieved by applying morlet, mexican-hat, and harr wavelet function ot the proposed filter, and the proposed filter has good SNR and discrimination capability with rotation-invariance in case of the morlet wavelet function.

  • This paper investigates a classification method of the electrocardiogram (ECG) into different disease categories. The features for the classification of the ECG are the coefficients of the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) of ECG signals. The coefficients are calculated with Haar wavelet, and after DWT we can get 64 coefficients. Each coefficient has morphological information and they may be good features when conventional time-domain features are not available. Since all of them are not meaningful, it is needed to reduce the size of meaningful coefficients set. The distributions of each coefficient can be the rules to classify ECG signal.   • Lately, over 4K high definition and high dynamic range (HDR) display devices are popularized, various interpolation and HDR methods have been researched to expand the size and the dynamic range. Since most of the legacy low resolution (LR) images require both an interpolation and a HDR tone mapping methods, the two processes should be subsequently applied. Therefore, the proposed algorithm presents a HDR up-scaling algorithm using undecimated wavelet transform and Retinex method, which transfers a LR image of low dynamic range (LDR) into the high resolution (HR) with HDR. The proposed algorithm consists of an up-scaling scheme increasing the image size and a tone mapping scheme expanding the dynamic range. The up-scaling scheme uses the undecimated version of the simplest Haar wavelet analysis for the 8-directional interpolation and the change region is extracted during the analysis. This region information is utilized in controlling the surround functions' size of the proposed tone mapping using MSRCR, to enhance the pixels of around the edges that are dominant feature of the subjective image quality. As the results, the proposed algorithm can apply an up-scaling and tone mapping processes in accordance with the type of pixel.

  • This paper presents a recovery technique for images with block-based corruption by transmission losses. Conventional methods that do not consider edge directions can cause blocked blurring artifacts. In this paper, we present a block recovery scheme using Haar wavelet features. The adaptive selection of neighboring blocks is performed based on the energy ratio f wavelet subbands. The lost blocks are recovered by linear interpolation in the spatial domain using selected block pairs. The proposed directional recovery method is effective for the strong edge because it exploits the varying neighboring blocks adaptively according to the edges and the directional information in the image. The proposed method outperforms the previous methods that used only a predefined set of neighboring blocks.

저작권자의 음성 삽입을 위한 영상 워터마킹 방법 (An Image Watermarking Method for Embedding Copyrighter's Audio Signal)

  • 디지털 미디어와 통신 네트워크의 급속한 발전으로 지적소유권 보호 기술이 절실히 요구된다. 본 논문에서 영상컨텐츠에 소유자의 음성신호를 삽입할 수 있는 새로운 영상 워터마킹 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 방법은 삽입할 워터마크로 음성신호를 이용하기 때문에 청각적으로 소유권을 주장하는데 매우 유리하다 그리고 LBX (Linear Bit expansion)에 의해 인터리빙하여 음성 워터마크를 삽입하기 때문에 공격에 의해 변형되거나 특히 제거된 음성신호를 복구할 수 있는 이점을 가진다. 본 방법은 다음세가지 기본 절차를 포함한다. 첫째, 아날그 소유자음성 신호를 PCM에 의해 부호화하고 새로운 디지털 워터마크를 생성한다. 둘째, 제안한 LBX에 의해 음성 워터마크를 인터리빙한다. 마지막으로 영상 컨텐츠를 이산 Haar 웨이브렛변환 (DHWT) 하고 저주파 영역을 마킹공간으로 하여 인터리빙 된 음성워터마크를 삽입한다. 실험 결과 본 연구에서 제안한 소유자 음성신호의 워터마크 삽입방법은 기존 워터마크 정보보다 눈에 보이지 않게 많은 정보량을 삽입할 수 있고 표준영상압축방식인 JPEG 손실압축과 특히 영상의 일부가 제거되는 영상절단과 영상회전 공격에 대해 강인성을 강건히 할 수 있었다.

  • 본 논문은 Haar 웨이브릿 변환과 2D PCA를 이용한 얼굴 인식 방법에 대하여 제안한다. 기존의 PCA는 1 차원 벡터들로 공분산 행렬을 구하는 반면에 2D PCA는 2 차원 영상을 직접적으로 이용하여 공분산 행렬을 구한 후 그것의 고유값에 따른 고유벡터를 구하여 특징 벡터들을 추출하였다. 제안 방법은 얼굴 데이터를 낮은 차원과 강건한 특징을 가지는 얼굴 영상을 얻기 위해 웨이브릿 변환을 이용하여 LL 대역의 영상 데이터로 2D PCA 방법을 적용하여 얼굴을 인식한다. 실험결과는 원래 크기의 얼굴 영상에 2D PCA를 적용한 인식률보다 웨이브릿 변환의 LL 대역의 얼굴 영상에 2D PCA를 적용한 얼굴 인식률이 더 좋음을 보여준다.

  • The popular methods to check the identity of individuals include passwords and ID cards. These conventional method for user identification and authentication are not altogether reliable because they can be stolen and forgotten. As an alternative of the existing methods, biometric technology has been paid much attention for the last few decades. In this paper, we propose an efficient system for recognizing the identity of a living person by analyzing iris patterns which have a high level of stability and distinctiveness than other biometric measurements. The proposed system is based on wavelet transform and a competitive neural network with the improved mechanisms. After preprocessing the iris data acquired through a CCD camera, feature vectors are extracted by using Haar wavelet transform. LVQ(Learning Vector Quantization) is exploited to classify these feature vectors. We improve the overall performance of the proposed system by optimizing the size of feature vectors and by introducing an efficient initialization of the weight vectors and a new method for determining the winner in order to increase the recognition accuracy of LVQ. From the experiments, we confirmed that the proposed system has a great potential of being applied to real applications in an efficient and effective way.

화소 삽입을 이용한 적응적 영상보간 (Adaptive Image Interpolation Using Pixel Embedding)

  • This paper presents an adaptive image interpolation method using a pixel-based neighbor embedding which is modified from the patch-based neighbor embedding of contemporary super resolution algorithms. Conventional interpolation methods for high resolution detect at least 16-directional edges in order to remove zig-zaging effects and selectively choose the interpolation strategy according to the direction and value of edge. Thus, they require much computation and high complexity. In order to develop a simple interpolation method preserving edge's directional shape, the proposed algorithm adopts the simplest Haar wavelet and suggests a new pixel-based embedding scheme. First, the low-quality image but high resolution, magnified into 1 octave above, is acquired using an adaptive 8-directional interpolation based on the high frequency coefficients of the wavelet transform. Thereafter, the pixel embedding process updates a high resolution pixel of the magnified image with the weighted sum of the best matched pixel value, which is searched at its low resolution image. As the results, the proposed scheme is simple and removes zig-zaging effects without any additional process.

Performance of Interference Mitigation with Different Wavelets in Global Positioning Systems

  • In this paper, we apply a discrete wavelet packet transform (DWPT) to reduce the influence of interference in global positioning system (GPS) signals and compare the interference mitigation performance of various wavelets. By applying DWPT to the received signal, we can gradually divide the received signal band into low-pass and high-pass bands. After calculating the average power for the separate bands, we can determine whether there is interference by comparing the value with the given threshold. For a band that includes interference, we can reconstruct the whole band signal using inverse DWPT (IDWPT) after applying a nulling method that sets all of the wavelet coefficients to 0. The reconstructed signals are correlated with the pseudorandom noise (PRN) codes to acquire GPS signals. The performance evaluation is based on the number of satellite signals whose peak ratio (defined as the ratio of the first and second correlation peak values in the acquisition stage) exceeds the threshold. In this paper, we compare and evaluate the performance of 6 wavelets including Haar, Daubechies, Symlets, Coiflets, Biorthogonal Splines, and Discrete Meyer.

  • We propose new reversible watermarking method for images. Being reversibility, original image and watermarked message should be recovered exactly. We propose different technique for hiding data to pairs. We use new type of histogram (pair histogram), which shows frequencies of each pair in image. We use histogram shift method for data embedding to pairs. We also propose improved version of method which allow hiding data with good performance for high capacities. This algorithm has better result compare to Tian's difference expansion method based on the Haar wavelet decomposition. For proposed algorithm capacity is higher under same PSNR.
