전압안정도 제약계통에 대한 고온초전도 케이블 적용효과 (Effects of HTS cable Applied to the Voltage Stability Limited Power System)

  • This paper presents the basic application idea of superconductor cable for voltage stability limited power system. In bulk power system, the transfer capability of transmission line is often limited by the voltage stability, and superconductor cable could be on of the countermeasure to enhance heat transfer limit as well as voltage stability limit. Steady state voltage stability approach by P-V curve is used to calculate the maximum transfer capability of initial system and superconductor applied system IEEE-14 bus system is used to demonstrate its applicability.

  • Bi-2223/Ag HTS tapes fabricated by PIT process are used to make the power transmission cable, motor, fault current limiter, transformer etc. But some problems are still remained as like bubbling, sausaging to got the high Jc. In this study. we carried out the experiment to prevent bubbling in the HTS tape. The bubbling mainly occurred when HTS tape was heat-treating. Therefore, additional vacuum annealing at 400 ~ $600^{\circ}C$and slowly ramp-up sintering method were used to decrease the bubbling. slowly ramp-up sintering was more effective to decrease the bubbling than the vacuum annealing, but Jc was also decreased after heat treatment. Optimum ramp-up sintering schedule was searched to get the high critical current and prevent bubbling at same time.

  • The necessity of compact high temperature super conducting cables is more keenly felt in densely populated metropolitan areas. As the compact high temperature superconducting cables that can be installed in ducts and tunnels can reduce construction cost and make the use of underground space more effective, the effect of introducing it to power system will be huge. For this study, Seoul, Korea is selected as a review model, the loads are estimated by scenario based on a survey and analysis of 345kV and 154kV power supply networks in this area. Based on this, the following items on urban transmission system are examined. (1) A method of constructing a model system to introduce high temperature superconducting cables to metropolitan areas is presented. (2) A case study through the analysis of power demand is conducted, and the amount of high temperature superconducting cable to be introduced by scenario is examined. (3) The economy involved in expanding existing cables and introducing high temperature superconducting cables(ducts or tunnels) following load increase in urban areas is examined and compared. (4) The maximum external diameter of HTS cable to accommodate exiting ducts based on the design standards for current cable ducts is calculated. (5) The voltage level that can be accommodated by existing ducts is examined.

Residual magnetic field profiles and their current density profiles of coated conductors for fast and slow cut-off current operations

  • Coated conductor is an important candidate for power cable applications due to its high current density. Even for DC power cable transmission, we must study the transport properties of HTS tapes after slow and fast discharge. In order to evaluate relation of the magnetic field with applied current we developed a scanning magnetic field measurements system by employing a Hall probe. This work presents the measurements of the magnetic fields above a coated conductor by varying applied current pattern. In the work, a transport current of 100 A, less than the critical current, is applied to YBCO coated conductor. We measured the residual magnetic field distributions after cut off the transport current with slow and fast operations. The results show differences of the magnetic field profiles and the corresponding current profiles by an inverse solution from the magnetic field measurement between these two operations because of the hysteresis of coated conductor excited by the transport current.

The progresses of superconducting technology for power grid last decade in China

  • With the increasing development of renewable energy, it is expected that large-scale renewable power would be transported from the west and north area of China to the east and south area. For this reason, it will be necessary to develop a wide-area power grid in which the renewable energy would be the dominant power source, and the power grid will be faced by some critical challenges such as long-distance large-capacity power transmission, the stability of the wide-area power grid and the land use problem for the power grid. The superconducting technology for power (STP) would be a possible alternative for the development of China's future power grid. In last decade, STP has been extensively developed in China. In this paper, we present an overview of the R&D of STP last decade in China including: 1) the development of high temperature superconducting (HTS) materials, 2) DC power cables, 3) superconducting power substations, 4) fault current limiters and 5) superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES).

  • 고온 초전도 전력케이블은 기존 케이블에 비해 많은 전력을 공급할 수 있기 때문에 대용량 신규부하 밀집지역이나 노후 전력케이블 교체시 대용량 송전을 가능하게 하는 대안으로 관심이 많아지고 있다. 그러나 고온 초전도 케이블은 전기적인 특성이나 냉각시스템을 필요로 하는 등 기존 케이블과 다른 많은 특성을 가지고 있기 때문에 실계통에 투입하기 이전에 초전도 케이블의 신뢰성 검증 및 평가가 새롭게 검토해야할 사안들로 받아들여주고 있다. 이를 위해서는 국내외적으로 진행된 많은 고온 초전도 전력케이블에 시험 데이터 및 경험을 근거로 실계통에 적합한 새로운 신뢰성 평가방법을 제시되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 국내외적으로 진행된 고온 초전도케이블의 신뢰성평가 방법을 검토하고 국내에서 개발중인 세계최고의 전압인 154kV 고온 초전도 전력케이블에 대한 신뢰성 평가방법을 제시하고자 한다.

  • The development of high performance HTS wire is a key factor for various electrical applications of coils and cables. The purpose of this paper is to review and consider the main manufacturing technologies of HTS wire and its current status. A lot of efforts have been focused on the optimization of PIT parameters for Bi-2223/Ag wire. According to this, long Bi-2223 wires having Ic of 130 A were recently produced and their mass production has been underway in US. The current status performance of Bi-2223 wire is supposed to be used in power transmission cable because of its lower self-field property. Y-123 second generation conductor is extensively being developed throughout the world and many fabrication processes are competed with each other. 30 m-long Y-123 wire with Ic of 0.8 MA/$\textrm{cm}^2$ was recently fabricated using IBAD and PLD techniques in Japan. This result offers promise of scalable processing of practical multi-layer coated conductor.

송전급 초전도 케이블의 보호협조 기술 검토 (Study on Protection Coordination for applying Transmission level HTS Cable in real grid)

  • 전력계통시스템에서 고효율 친환경 에너지 공급시스템 구축의 중요성이 크게 대두되면서 미래 전력계통시스템의 대안으로 초전도케이블이 제안되고 있으며, 이미 해외에서는 오래전부터 초전도케이블 연구개발을 수행하였으며 현재 실계통 적용 운전사례가 다수 있다. 국내에서도 2000년부터 본격적으로 초전도케이블에 대한 연구개발과 실증시험을 통하여 신뢰성 확보를 하였고 지금은 국내 실계통 적용 가능성을 확인하기 위한 배전급(22.9kV) 초전도케이블의 실계통 적용기술개발을 위한 연구과제가 KEPCO 주도로 LS전선이 참여하여 정부지원으로 착수하게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 대용량 친환경 초전도케이블의 실계통 적용을 위한 보호협조의 기술적 검토와 더불어 실계통에 적용하기 위한 기본적 설계 개념에 대하여 기술하고자 한다.
