  • Background: Detection of cervical high grade lesions in patients with atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASCUS) is still a challenge. Our study tested the efficacy of the paired boxed gene 1 (PAX1) methylation analysis by methylation-sensitive high-resolution melting (MS-HRM) in the detection of high grade lesions in ASCUS and compared performance with the hybrid capture 2 (HC2) human papillomavirus (HPV) test. Materials and Methods: A total of 463 consecutive ASCUS women from primary screening were selected. Their cervical scrapings were collected and assessed by PAX1 methylation analysis (MS-HRM) and high-risk HPV-DNA test (HC2). All patients with ASCUS were admitted to colposcopy and cervical biopsies. The Chisquare test was used to test the differences of PAX1 methylation or HPV infection between groups. Results: The specificity, sensitivity, and accuracy for detecting CIN2 + lesions were: 95.6%, 82.4%, and 94.6%, respectively, for the PAX1 MS-HRM test; and 59.7%, 64.7%, and 60.0% for the HC2 HPV test. Conclusions: The PAX1 methylation analysis by MS-HRM demonstrated a better performance than the high-risk HPV-DNA test for the detection of high grade lesions (CIN2 +) in ASCUS cases. This approach could screen out the majority of low grade cases of ASCUS, and thus reduce the referral rate to colposcopy.

  • Background : Correct identification of Panax species is important to ensure food quality, safety, authenticity and health for consumers. This paper describes a high resolution melting (HRM) analysis based method using internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and 5.8S ribosomal DNA barcoding regions as target (Bar-HRM) to obtain barcoding information for the major Panax species and to identify the origin of ginseng plant. Methods and Results : A PCR-based approach, Bar-HRM was developed to discriminate among Panax species. In this study, the ITS1, ITS2, and 5.8S rDNA genes were targeted for testing, since these have been identified as suitable genes for use in the identification of Panax species. The HRM analysis generated cluster patterns that were specific and sensitive enough to detect small sequence differences among the tested Panax species. Conclusion : The results of this study show that the HRM curve analysis of the ITS regions and 5.8S rDNA sequences is a simple, quick, and reproducible method. It can simultaneously identify three Panax species and screen for variants. Thus, ITS1HRM and 5.8SHRM primer sets can be used to distinguish among Panax species.

  • Strategic bundling of Human Resource Management (HRM) practices among themselves works together as an entire HRM system rather than individual HRM practices to achieve organizational objectives. The bundles of HR practices support the effectiveness of one another assuming the effectiveness of any practice depends on other practices in place. It is said that the greater the total degree of bundling among the various components of HRM policies and practices, the more will be the organizational outcomes. Realizing these facts, this study aimed to explore the level of strategic bundling and examined the impact of such bundling on organizational performance to the publicly listed companies of Nepal. This empirical study is based on description and exploratory design for which data collected through the questionnaire based on 5-point liker scale. Total population of the study at the time of data collection are 234 organizations publicly listed in Stock Exchange of Nepal. Questionnaire is distributed to all organizations listed, response received from 105 organizations, as a unit of analysis, which is fairly good response. The study of strategic bundling of HRM practices perhaps the first study in Nepal, found that only 32 percent organizations have followed high bundling HR practices and these high bundling organizations are significantly different with low bundling organizations. Business organizations are trying to practice being close association of HRM policies and practices within them except labor relation with employee participation and business strategies. Supporting to the international literature, strategic bundling of HRM practices among themselves shows statistically significant effects on quality of product or services, labor productivity, financial performance, employee satisfaction, rate of innovation, employee commitment and market share.

  • A new mechanism for hyper redundant manipulator (HRM) is presented, which comprises of serially assembled compound three-bar linkages (CTL). The CTL mechanism has some unique properties. This paper presents the forward and inverse kinematics of this mechanism and shows the simulation of the HRM havig 9 CTL units. The recursive algorithm of the inverse kinematics that the author originally developed is employed. It is fast and stable ; moreover, it enables us to obtain a solution in which the end-point of the HRM is controlled by a portion of joints. It also presents the method of the dynamical analysis. There exist kinematical constraints in the proposed closed linkage mechanism. In the dynamic analysis constraints are sufficiently sustained by the constraint stabilization method that the author developed. The mechanical structure of the HRM having some CTL units that is under construction is shown.

Also moderating effect of the strategy is analyzed. Research design, data, and methodology - Two outcome variables are measured, non-financial performance and financial performance. Two organizational effectiveness variables are measured, job satisfaction and organizational commitment. And two HRM areas are measured, HRM practice and organizational culture. Finally, two strategies are measured as moderators, market strategy and product/service strategy. This study analyzed employees of 554 from the 7th HCCP. This study used SEM and MCFA. Result - The results of turnover intention, growth rate, and profit rate verified the influence of HRM and organizational effectiveness. Overall results showed a contrary effect of education & training system implement and participation on job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Among organizational culture, innovation and relation positively affect job satisfaction and organizational commitment. However, antecedents influencing turnover intention, growth rate, and profit rate bear no resemblance. And the MCFA result shows that strategy's group differentiation analysis is meaningful in turnover intention not in financial performance. Conclusion - Based on this study result, management suggestions for turnover intention, growth rate, profit rate, and organizational effectiveness are made. Especially, due to the company's strategy.

  • Viruses in the genus Megalocytivirus have been subdivided into four subgroups. Among these subgroups 2 and 4, represented by the red sea bream iridovirus (RBIV) and the olive flounder iridovirus (FLIV), respectively, are non-exotic. subgroups 1 and 3, represented by the red sea bream iridovirus (RSIV) and the infectious spleen and kidney necrosis virus (ISKNV), respectively, have not been detected in Korea and are known as exotic. Shellfish are filter-feeders, and can thus filter and accumulate Megalocytivirus in their digestive glands, allowing us to track viral contamination in surrounding aquatic environment. In this study, we developed a high-resolution melting (HRM) analysis to differentiate among subgroups of Megalocytivirus accumulated in shellfish, and confirmed the convenience and efficiency of this method. More than two subgroups of Megalocytivirus were found in the digestive gland of a single shellfish. We classified all Megalocytivirus viruses from shellfish in Korea into subgroups 2 and 4, although proportions of subgroups were different among regions. Compared to nucleotide sequencing analysis, HRM analysis is a simple and rapid method for differentiating of Megalocytivirus subgroups.

  • A nylon wire holding and release mechanism (HRM) has been widely used for deployable applications of CubeSat owing to its simplicity and low cost. In general, structural safety of solar panel with an HRM has been designed by performing structural analysis under a launch environment. However, previous studies have not performed thermal analysis for HRM in an on-orbit environment. In this study, Launch and Early Orbit Phase (LEOP) thermal analysis was performed to evaluate thermal stability of the mechanism in the orbital thermal environment of the pogo pin-based HRM applied to CubeSat. In addition, the effectiveness of the thermal design and performance of the pogo pin-based HRM were verified through a thermal vacuum test.
