Transient Current Control of Two-Stage Electronics Ballast for HID Lamps (HID 램프용 Two-Stage 전자식 안정기의 과도 전류 제어)

  • The conventional Three-Stage electronic ballast is stable, but Two-Stage electronic ballast has been researching because of efficiency. Three-Stage electronic ballast is consisted of PFC circuit, buck converter, and inverter circuit, but Two-stage is consisted of PFC circuit, Buck-Inverter full bridge circuit. The Buck-Inverter full bridge inverter consists of two half bridge inverters for low frequency switching, and high frequency switching. In the case of street lamp it is far from a lamp to a ballast, the conventional pulsed high voltage ignitor can not turn on the HID lamps because of reduction of ignition voltage. Therefore, it needs to do the research on a resonant ignition to turn on the HID lamps. Therefore, in the Two-Stage electronic ballast which has the resonant tank for ignition, the transient resonant current because of low frequency changing is analyzed, the novel algorithm is proposed to resuce the transient current.

  • This paper suggests a overvoltage protection scheme for HID lamp. HID lamp has complex characteristics and long duration in process from starting to steady state condition. So it is necessary to protect both starting and normal lighting mode. The protection method is composed of two circuit: one is for ignition state and the other is for steady state.

  • 본 논문은 HID 램프 관등회로의 전선 길이에 따른 이그니션 전압 전류 특성 분석에 관한 것이다. 현장실태조사를 통하여 HID 램프 관등회로 전선 굵기 선정의 문제점을 제시하고 HID 램프의 이그니션 전압 전류 특성을 분석하였으며, 이론적 고찰과 시뮬레이션, 실험을 통하여 전선의 길이, 종류, 굵기에 따른 이그니션 전압 감쇄 그래프를 제시하였다.

  • 기존의 HID 램프용 안정기는 대부분이 인덕터와 콘덴서를 사용한 수동소자 회로이며 사용 전원 60HZ에서는 그 부피가 커짐은 물론 중량이 무거워 설치에 제약조건이 많고 효율이 나쁘기 때문에 전자식 안정기를 사용하여 단점을 보완할 필요가 있다.

  • A new scheme of the automotive High Intensity Discharge (HlD) lamp ballast systems is proposed. The p proposed scheme consists of the high frequency IX DC converter and the low frequency DC-AC inverter, like t that the conventional HID ballast system. However, this system separates the input voltage of the ignitor from t the dc link voltage, which results in the use of lower voltage rating power devices for the HID lamp ballast s system, comparlu with convention띠 system. As a result, proposed system has a lower cost and higher e efficiency. This paper presents th$\varepsilon$ design and anlaysis of the propoSlU ballast and some 앉아、nmental results.

  • In this paper, electronic ballast using resonant inverter for HID lamp is designed and implemented. The proposed electronic ballast is used the soft switching technology ZVS(Zero Voltage Switching) to reduce turn-on and turn-off loss. The ignition of proposed electronic ballast is achieved by controlling a full bridge inverter which is consisted of LC filter for resonance. After ignition the ballast operates as a low frequency square wave inverter by controlling a full bridge inverter as a buck converter. After ignition at resonant frequency of $f_o$=160kHz, the switching frequency of a buck converter is consisted of 50kHz of high frequency and 170Hz of low frequency. This is for attenuating high frequency harmonics and avoiding acoustic resonance. The experimental results show that electronic ballast using resonant inverter is operated stably.

  • This paper proposes an effective drive of high intensity discharge (HID) lamp ballast for cars. All control functions of the proposed ballast are implemented using a low-cost single chip microcontroller, PIC16C73 to optimize the total system size and to minimize cost through minimization of total component number. The proposed ballast generates high open-circuit voltage to ignite the lamp and is controlled to supply effectively the power required to shorten warm-up period after the breakdown. The DC-DC converter of the DC-AC converter part of the ballast utilizes the flyback converter topology that can minimize component number. Also, because to more minimize the ballast size, the transformer size must be minimized, for this, PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) pulses are generated with high frequency using the PWM module of the microcontroller. An analysis for this is explained, briefly. As if the operation of the lamp and ballast arrives at steady-state, then the ballast must AC-control the lamp, for this, the microcontroller utilizes the other PWM module. And the part related to the igniter is explained, briefly. It is shown through experimental results that the controller of the proposed ballast has good performance for the HID lamp for cars.

  • In recent years, the interest and research for Future Internet are rapidly increasing. In domestic, MOFI (Mobile Oriented Future Internet) is proposed as one architecture of Future Internet. MOFI is a data transmission architecture which provides a mobility, name-based communication and routing scalability. In this paper we implement a basic MOFI testbed that supports HID-based communication, and verify the feasibility of HID-based communication through experimentation of general service such as PING and WWW service. We used "VirtualBox" as a virtual machine and implement a packet processing and a HCP header addition and translation function using "Click Modular Router".

  • The metal halide lamps are now widely used in the application and commercial lighting due to their attracting properties such as good color rendering and high efficiency. But, they have a serious problem of acoustic resonance using high frequency operation and they need a high voltage to ignite. So, they have not been applied to indoors. Over the past few years, a considerable number of studies have been conducted on the electronic ballast with hot restarting and resonance phenomenon. But, Very few attempts have been made at adaptive ignition method according to lamp state. In this paper is proposed electronicballast for metal halide lamps with an igniter for adaptive ignition. The proposed electronic bllast can generate a different ignition voltage according to the arc tube state.
