THE ASSOCIATION OF NEUTRAL HYDROGEN WITH HII REGIONS AND RADIO SOURCES

  • The HI features associated with HII regions and radio sources in the galactic-plane are searched in the Maryland-Green Bank Galactic 21-cm Line Survey. Among the twenty-eight such objects, twenty-five show HI depression features, two no feature, and an emission feature with excess HI brightness temperature. Most of these feature are surrounded by strong HI emissions. The depth of the HI depression is proportional to the radio continuum brightness temperature. The angular dimensions of the HI feature and radio source are comparable. The small HI depressions shown at the positions of HII region located in the outer solar circle are considered to be HI self-absorption features of very cold HI gas.

  • Since HiMSEN H21/32, a new medium speed diesel engine of Hyundai's own design, was introduced in 2001, Hyundai has added new models of H25/33 and H17/28 into HiMSEN engine family. These two new engines take after faithfully to the original HiMSEN concept of a PRACTICAL engine by Hi-Touch and Hi-Tech. The prototype of H25/33 was developed jointly with Rolls Royce Bergen originally and also introduced in 2001. But most of the engine design have been changed by Hyundai for the commercial versions to be a member of HiMSEN family, which has little interchangeability with the prototype. H17/28 is now under development as the smallest size of the family. This new engine also has the longest stroke of a class engine, which has been proven as the best basis for future environmental challenge. The higher compression ratio of 17 and optimized Miller Timing with Simplified pulse turbocharging system applied all HiMSEN engines as which showed the most practical solution against current heavy fuel combustion issues for the time being before introducing digital control system. This paper describes the design and development of these new HiMSEN engines and also reviews the service experiences of H21/32 and H25/33, which launched successfully.

Characterization of Haemophilus influenzae Peroxiredoxins

  • Two open reading frames of Haemophilus influenzae, HI0572 and HI0751, showing homology to a yeast thioredoxin peroxidase II (TPx II) and an E. coli thiol peroxidase $P_{20}$, respectively, were cloned and expressed in E. coli, and then the proteins were subsequently purified and characterized. HI0751 protein showed the thioredoxin (Trx)-dependent peroxidase activity, whereas HI0572 protein showed glutathione-dependent peroxidase. The HI0572 is the first peroxiredoxin with glutathione peroxidase activity rather than thioredoxin peroxidase. Purified HI0572 and HI0751 proteins protected specifically the inactivation of glutamine synthetase by metal catalyzed oxidation (MCO) systems composed of $Fe^{3+}$, $O_2$ and mercaptans such as dithiothreitol, ${\beta}-mercaptoethanol$ and glutathione (GSH). Unlike the HI0751 protein, the HI0572 protein was more effective in protecting glutamine synthetase from inactivation by the $GSH/Fe^{3+}/O_2$ system. It seems that these unique properties of the HI0572 protein are due to the structure containing a glutaredoxin domain at it's C-terminal in addition to a peroxiredoxin domain.

배기 매니폴드용 박육 고규소 구상흑연주철의 내열 특성 (Heat Resistance Properties of Thin Section HiSiMo Ductile Iron for Exhaust Manifold)

  • In this study, the microstructure, mechanical properties and high temperature oxidation characteristics of HiSiMo and HiSiMoM ductile iron for exhaust manifold were investigated. The HiSiMoM ductile iron was developed by optimization of alloying element addition and casting design. The exhaust manifold prototype was fabricated using the HiSiMoM iron and this resulted in the weight saving of 0.73kg. The microstructures of the HiSiMo and HiSiMoM irons were similar each other and graphite nodularity was 89% and 93% respectively. Tensile strengths of them were 663.5 and 674.4 MPa and Brinell hardness were 235.3 and 243.9 respectively. Both irons showed parabolic weight gain behavior in high temperature oxidation atmosphere. Oxidation layer was divided into external and internal layers. The weight gain of the HiSiMoM iron was lower than that of the HiSiMo iron after isothermal oxidation test at $900^{\circ}C$. This should be rationalized by higher Si enrichment at the interface of the matrix and internal layer of the HiSiMoM iron.

Comparison of the Performance of MiSeq and HiSeq 2500 in a Microbiome Study

  • Next generation sequencing is commonly used to characterize the microbiome structure. MiSeq is commonly used to analyze the microbiome due to its relatively long read length. However, recently, Illumina introduced the 250x2 chip for HiSeq 2500. The purpose of this study was to compare the performance of MiSeq and HiSeq in the context of oral microbiome samples. The MiSeq Reagent Kit V3 and the HiSeq Rapid SBS Kit V2 were used for MiSeq and HiSeq 2500 analyses, respectively. Total read count, read quality score, relative bacterial abundance, community diversity, and relative abundance correlation were analyzed. HiSeq produced significantly more read sequences and assigned taxa compared to MiSeq. Conversely, community diversity was similar in the context of MiSeq and HiSeq. However, depending on the relative abundance, the correlation between the two platforms differed. The correlation between HiSeq and MiSeq sequencing data for highly abundant taxa (> 2%), low abundant taxa (2-0.2%), and rare taxa (0.2% >) was 0.994, 0.860, and 0.416, respectively. Therefore, HiSeq 2500 may also be compatible for microbiome studies. Importantly, the HiSeq platform may allow a high-resolution massive parallel sequencing for the detection of rare taxa.

Sparse 구조의 다변수 이차식 기반 서명에 대한 안전성 분석 (Security Analysis on Multivariate Quadratic Based Digital Signatures Using Sparse Matrices)

  • 다변수 이차식 기반 전자서명 알고리즘은 구현의 용이성과 작은 서명 크기를 장점으로 갖는 양자내성암호 후보군이다. 이러한 다변수 이차식 기반 전자서명의 효율성을 높이기 위해 희소 행렬을 사용한 전자서명 기법들이 제시되었으며, 이 중 HiMQ는 국내 정보통신단체 표준으로 제정되었다. 그러나 HiMQ는 2022년 제안된 MinRank 공격에 의해 깨진 대표적 다변수 이차식 기반 전자서명인 Rainbow와 유사한 키 구조를 갖는다. HiMQ는 국내 정보통신단체 표준으로 제정되면서 권고 파라미터를 제시하였는데, 이는 2020년 기준의 암호 분석에 기반한 파라미터로 최근 공격 기법들이 고려되지 않았다. 이에 본 논문에서는 HiMQ에 적용 가능한 다변수 이차식 기반 전자서명에 대한 공격 기법들을 살펴보고 이에 대한 안전성 분석을 수행하였다. HiMQ에 가장 효과적인 공격은 2022년 제안된 개선된 MinRank 공격인 combined attack이며, 세 개의 권고 파라미터 모두 기준 보안강도를 만족하지 못하였다. 또한 HiMQ-128과 HiMQ-160은 최소 보안강도인 128-bit 비도도 만족하지 못하였다.

HI-FORM DECK를 이용한 부분 PC 계단 접합부의 접합방식에 따른 실험적 연구 (A study on experiment from the Stair Joints Constructed with PC system part of it using the HI-FORM DECK)

  • 반강접합은 핀접합의 단점을 보완하고 강접합의 장점을 수용할 수 있는 중간 형태이다. 현재 국내에서 핀접합에 대한 연구는 활성화 되어있으나 반강접합에 대한 연구는 많지 않기 때문에 본 연구에서는 3가지 형태의 실험체를 제작하여 성능을 입증하려 했다. 실험체는 강접합 HI-R, 반강접합 HI-S, 핀접합 HI-P등 총 3개이다. 실험결과 HI-R은 접합부 전단파괴, HI-S는 고정단 상부 휨파괴, HI-P는 경사계단 슬래브 하부 휨파괴로 나타났고 최대내력은 각각 51.74, 51.4, 24.63kN으로 측정되었고, 강성은 1.58, 1.19, 0.37을 나타냈다. 항복강도는 각각 44.5, 47.3, 24kN을 보유하고, 연성비는 3.31, 2.32, 1.54로 나타냈고, 사용하중 작용 시의 처짐은 KBC기준에 의거하여 HI-P실험체가 기준을 초과하는 것으로 나타났다. 철근 변형률분포로 보아 HI-S는 초기에 HI-R과 유사한 거동을 보이나 항복이후 접합부 내부요소들의 응력분담으로 핀접합보다는 우수한 성능을 보유한 반강접 접합부로 판단할 수 있었다.
