Verification about the HEMU Pantograph Performance of the Dynamics Behaviors (차세대고속전철용 판토그라프에 대한 성능 검증)

  • The pantograph on HEMU400 perform the simulation of following characteristics for pantograph's performance prediction and confirming the EN50119's requirement. To meet the performance requirements for the input data are proposed. Simulation result of the performance requirements are satisfied from proposed input data. The new model was developed by proposed data base on the simulation result. A new developed model data used in following characteristics meet to be sure about what the test was done to count the equivalence of mass. Depending on the results of test to performance prediction, and propose research directions.

  • Recently, the speed of a train has been increased. So the trains are being exposed to wind more severely than before. Because of the operation of high speed trains and lightweight of the train, risks of train derailment have being increased. In this study, aerodynamic effects of a newly designed high speed train, HEMU-400x, are evaluated. For aerodynamic effect evaluation, analysis method is selected by examining the safety standards for high speed train. The condition of aerodynamic effects is selected by adverse effect conditions. In order to calculate $C_s$ coefficients, numerical analysis is conducted. Using $C_s$ coefficients, the side force is calculated. Through dynamics analysis, derailment and wheel unloading are obtained. Using these results, derailment evaluation is performed.

  • The HEMU-400X(High-speed Electric Multiple Unit 400km/h experiment) project starts last fear. It is required to control and balance the systems engineering activities throughout the project life cycle for a successful completion of the project.   • The Electromagnetic Interference(EMI) in railway applications is largely due to doing the power conversion for traction and Auxiliary system on the Highspeed Electric Multiple Unit-400X(HEMU-400X). In order to research on EMI in railway applications, it were included how much the HEMU-400X generates it and it has an effect on the equipments of electric system which resulted from Power Line Disturbance (PLD) phenomenon by the loss of contact during its running. In this study, the dynamic characteristic of a contact wire and pantograph suppling electrical power to high-speed trains are investigated. The analysis of the loss of contact based on Power Simulator program software is performed to develop power line disturbance model suitable for high speed operation. It is confirmed that a contact wire and pantograph model are necessary for studying the dynamic behavior of the pantograph system.

  • In order to detect the exact position of high-speed train, it is necessary to obtain location information from the transponder tag installed along the track. When the transponder tag receives the energizing signal from the train, it sends a telegram to the reader, which includes location information. In high-speed railway environment, this telegram can be corrupted by electromagnetic interference caused by onboard electric train power equipments or wayside devices. In order to assess the performance of transponder system under this harsh environment, we carried out field test using HEMU-430X. Field test results are briefly introduced and discussed for the evaluation of the transponder system under development.

  • Korean Train Express (KTX) has been commercially operating and achieving elevation on transport capacity since 2004. And the first hish-speed prototype test train, HSR-350x, was developed and succeeded in testing of running over 350km/h. Now KTX-II based on HSR-350x was started in service run. The new high-speed train development project, HEMU-400x project, has started since 2007. The protype train is being designed and manufactured. After the train are developed completely, it will run on the commercial line and will be test to verify the estimated performance. The authors devised the performance evaluation method and process of the HEMU-400x prototype system. And we introduce the definite performance test items and the method to vitrificate them in this paper.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 400km/h 급 고속철도 소음저감용 방음벽 상단장치를 개발하기 위함이다. 이를 위해 우선 현장에서의 소음측정을 통한 400km/h 급 고속철도(HEMU) 및 300km/h 급 KTX의 주파수특성을 분석하였다. 그리고, 해석적 기법(BEM) 및 시작품 제작을 통한 실내실험을 수행하여 3dB(A) 이상의 소음을 저감시킬 수 있는 상단장치를 설계하였다. 마지막으로, 상단장치 시작품을 제작하여 옥외시험실에서의 성능시험을 수행하였으며, 고속철도의 주파수특성을 반영한 상단장치 설치 전후의 감음량을 평가하였다.

  • The HEMU-400X project starts last year. It is important first of all that describe correctly system requirement until configuration of system, design, manufacturing, installation and test verification so that the complicated high-speed electric multiple unit is to run safety and reliable and to achieve target performance and function properly. The system requirement assist the system designer to comprehensive the performance and function of system in basic design. This paper proposes the development methodology of system requirement for HEMU-400X.

  • With the increase in population, the area of human activities has expanded, resulting in the dramatic increase in the need for transportation system. Various infrastructures necessary for efficient logistics, however, have not been supplied enough and the logistics efficiency in Korea is in a bad situation now. As a result of the situation, the demand for the railroad transportation system that can provide large volume transportation has increased dramatically. An electric railway system is composed of high-tech subsystems, among which main electric equipment such as motors and converter are critical components determining the performance of electric vehicle. Among the on-board equipments, traction equipment is important part that has influence on safety and performances of vehicles. We is studied for high-speed train of foreign countries. From this research, we knows that axle weight of HEMU-400x is reasonable within 13ton.

  • Now, the goal of the third generation KTX project is to create a new species of high speed train in order to open a new era of high speed railway system in history by authentic Korean technology and innovative design. Now the third generation KTX, must go beyond the original stagnant paradigm and be positioned as an emotional resource which is creating a shift in the public's perspective of transportation and expanding the idea that transportation intersects the two distinct realms of culture and environment as well. In addition, the overall design should reflect the Korean culture and characteristics, simple yet resonant, both the interior space and the exterior fuselage should portray the dynamic heritage of Korea such as the powerful yet subdued energy of Jung Joong Dong. In short, through the symbolic key words in Korean, Dong(Dynamics), Mek(Pulse), Ryu(Flow), Gam(Sensibility), the third generation KTX design project aims to create an new identity of Korean high speed railway which can stand globally.
