  • During laparoscopic cholecystectomy, a surgical clip is used to control the cystic duct and cystic artery. In the past, metallic clips were usually used, but over recent years, interest in the use of Hem-o-lok clips has increased. Surgical clip migration into the common bile duct (CBD) after laparoscopic cholecystectomy has rarely been reported and the majority of reported cases involved metallic clips. In this report, we describe the case of a 53-year-old woman who presented with abdominal pain caused by migration of a Hem-o-lok clip into the CBD. The patient had undergone laparoscopic cholecystectomy 10 months previously. Abdominal CT revealed an indistinct, minute, radiation-impermeable object in the distal CBD. The object was successfully removed by sphincterotomy via ERCP using a stone basket and was identified as a Hem-o-lok clip.

  • The apron, which corresponds to an important clothing form, changed according to the taste, age, appearance and meaning of the wearer as well as from past to present. Decorative function and practical functions appear in the costumes of the East and West. Anak No. 3 tomb, Korea's 4th century Goguryeo tomb mural, was depicted in the form of a woman wearing a white apron and working in the kitchen, which is similar to that of a current kitchen, and the shape and purpose of the apron is similar to the present one. The characteristics of Korean aprons are summarized as western similarity, traditional reproducibility, and practical functionality. The U-shaped apron with the hem decoration of Goguryeo is similar to the apron of Crete with a rhombus pattern and hem decoration. Despite differences in time, it can be seen as traces of a cultural exchange across the East and the West. In addition, Korean skirts were decorated with wrinkles and a hem decoration based on rectangles. It is a reproduction of a traditional skirt and is different from a Western apron with a chest strap. In the Anak No. 3 tomb mural, women were wearing the first aprons that showed a practical functionality and not a decorative use.

  • This study is to compare the pattern making methods of men's jeans and to analyze sizes of parts while also evaluating the appearance and fit according to a 3D virtual garment simulation. Five types of patterns are selected for the analysis. For the appearance evaluation, the study conducted a virtual clothing simulation, created a perspective drawing, and applied Clothing pressure to each test outfit. First, according to the pattern comparisons, A and D had the shortest crotch length, while B had the longest; B had the narrowest crotch width, while C had the widest; C had the greatest waist circumference, and B had the smallest; C had the greatest knee and hem circumference, while E had the smallest. Second, according to the appearance evaluation, E pants had the highest rating overall for the waist, crotch, knee, and hem comfort; A pants had the highest rating for the yoke line end and placement; and C pants had the highest rating for the side seam line. According to the correlation analysis, ease of the waist, hips, hem and thighs were important factors (in that order) in determining the overall appearance of the jean pants.

  • In this paper, a hybrid element method(HEM) for the evaluation of the hydrodynamic responses of arbitrary-shaped offshore structures is studied. The hydrodynamic pressure forces are assumed to be inertially dominated, and viscous effects are neglected. The mathematical formulation procedure of the hybrid element method with the analytical eigenseries solution is established systematically. The computer program based on the HEM has been developed, and applied to solving the wave diffraction and radiation problems for arbitrary shaped structures. From comparisons of the results obtained by using the other avaliable solution methods, the method for the evaluation of the hydrodynamic forces using the HEM and the computer program developed here have been proved to be valid.

  • In this paper, the characteristics of the horn antenna for the high power transfertation system is stuided and several kinds of a horn antenna are compared and finally a conical hem antenna using multi-mode is proposed. In the high power system, the efficiency of power transfer is very important. Therefore the feeding hem of a reflector must have a circular symmetric radiation pattern. And the side lobe must be suppressed to reduce a spillover power loss and interference. By using multi-mode in a circular hem antenna, the whole length can be shorter and the radiation pattern can be adjusted according to the shape and direction of a reflector. This is confirmed by the experiments.

  • In general, seafarer's human error is considered to be the preponderant muse for the majority of maritime transportation accidents in a merchant ship. The implementation techniques for Human Error Model (HEM) to assess possible accident risk by deck officers including captain, chief officer, second mate and third mate are described in this study. The scope of this work is focused to 642 deck officers in the ship management company with 130 vessels. At first, HEM can be constructed through the statistical analysis and expert's brainstorming process with human data to 642 deck officers. Then the variables $\upsilon$ for the human factors, the evaluation level EP($\upsilon$) for $\upsilon$, the weight $\alpha$ of $\upsilon$, and the title weight $\beta$ of each deck officers can be decided. In addition, through the analysis of ship's accident history, the accident causation ratios by human error ${\gamma}_H$ and by external error ${\gamma}_B$ can be found as 0.517(51.7%) and 0.483(48.3%), respectively. The correlation coefficients to $\upsilon$ are also shown significant for a 95% confidence interval (p < 0.05) for each coefficient. And the validity of HEM is also surveyed by the analysis of normal probability distribution of risk level RL to each deck officer.

  • The Engquist-Majdas second-order Absorbing Boundary Conditions (ABC) has been combined with the finite element formulation replacing the boundary integral equations in the hybrid finite-boundary element method (HEM). The method is applied to electromagnetic field radiation problems, especially to the microwave launcher, in order to verify the finite element formulation with the ABC's. The results with ABC are in good agreement with those of HEM. In order to see the applicability of the ABC, a simplified microwave oven utilizing ABC and an absorbing material are provided. The EM field distribution of the model is visualized. This method could be a useful analysis and design tool for EM field devices.

  • RoeM and AUSMPW+ schemes are two of the most accurate and efficient schemes which are recently developed for the analysis of single phase gas dynamics. In this paper, we developed two-phase versions of these schemes for the analysis of gas-liquid large density ratio two-phase flow. We adopt homogeneous equilibrium model (HEM) using mass fraction to describe different two phases. In the Eulerian-Eulerian framework, HEM assumes dynamic and thermal equilibrium of the two phases in the same computational mesh. From the mixture equation of state (EOS), we derived new shock-discontinuity sensing term (SDST), which is commonly used in RoeM and AUSMPW+ for the stable numerical flux calculation. The proposed two-phase versions of RoeM and AUSMPW+ schemes are applied on several air-water two-phase test problems. In spite of the large discrepancy of material properties such as density, enthalpy, and speed of sound, the numerical results show that both schemes provide very satisfactory solutions.

  • There are three types of frequency-domain loop-loop EM induction method, depending on the loop separation and their location relative to the ground surface: horizontal-loop EM (HLEM), fixed small-loop EM, and helicopter-borne EM (HEM) methods. Multidimensional inversion provides tomographic images of the subsurface resistivity structure and thus enhances the interpretational accuracy of loop-loop EM data. HLEM method is shown to be effective for exploring groundwater resources in weathered and fractured crystalline basement terrains in semi-arid regions. Also, HEM method is useful for locating weak zones in landslide areas. The applicability of inversion to small-loop EM data depends solely on the S/N ratio. The quadrature response of small-loop EM data can only give the equivalent conductivity of a homogenous half-space model, and thus the in-phase component is essential in inverting EM data. However, the in-phase response is much lower and decreases more rapidly with decreasing frequency than the quadrature response. Further work is needed to obtain conductivity-depth images from small-loop EM data.
