Misdiagnosis of florid cemento-osseous dysplasia leading to unnecessary root canal treatment: a case report

  • This case report demonstrates an unnecessary endodontic treatment of teeth with florid cemento-osseous dysplasia (FCOD) due to a misdiagnosis as periapical pathosis and emphasizes the importance of correct diagnosis to avoid unnecessary treatment. A 30-year-old woman was referred to our institution for apicoectomies of the mandibular left canine and both the lateral incisors. The periapical lesions associated with these teeth had failed to resolve after root canal treatment over a 3-year period. Radiographic examinations revealed multiple lesions on the right canine, the second premolar, and both first molars as well as the anterior region of the mandible. Based on clinical, radiographic and histological evaluations, the patient condition was diagnosed as FCOD. The patient has been monitored for 2 years. To avoid unnecessary invasive treatment, accurate diagnosis is essential before treatment is carried out in managing FCOD.

Optimal Terminal Interconnection Reconstruction along with Terminal Transition in Randomly Divided Planes

  • This paper proposes an efficient method of reconstructing interconnections when the terminals of each plane change in real-time situations where randomly divided planes are interconnected. To connect all terminals when the terminals of each plane are changed, we usually reconstruct the interconnections between all terminals. This ensures a minimum connection length, but it takes considerable time to reconstruct the interconnection for the entire terminal. This paper proposes a solution to obtain an optimal tree close to the minimum spanning tree (MST) in a short time. The construction of interconnections has been used in various design-related areas, from networks to architecture. One of these areas is an ad hoc network that only consists of mobile hosts and communicates with each other without a fixed wired network. Each host of an ad hoc network may appear or disappear frequently. Therefore, the heuristic proposed in this paper may expect various cost savings through faster interconnection reconstruction using the given information in situations where the connection target is changing.

코로나-19 대유행시대의 후두경 검사 (Laryngoscopy During the COVID-19 Pandemic)

  • The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has taken a toll on human lives and health systems worldwide and is still affecting all medical practices years later. In particular, much medical staff had to sacrifice in areas where the medical system was overloaded in the early stages of the outbreak and the resulting shortage of medical resources. In the future, another pandemic disease seems to emerge, which should threaten otolaryngologists inevitably. It is necessary to understand viral aerosolization and practice recommendations for COVID-19. These can guarantee the most effective treatment for the patients during the pandemic and protect the safety of our medical staff and patients.

  • Corchoropsis Siebold & Zucc. was traditionally included in Tiliaceae, however, several morphological characters and molecular phylogenetic studies supported that it was the member of Dombeyoideae (Malvaceae). It is used as compost, medicinal, and ornamental herbs. Out of total three species, two species and one variety, grow in Korea. Although it is an East Asian endemic genus, plastome data has not been defined. Here, we characterize the plastome sequences of C. tomentosa (160,093 bp) and C. tomentosa var. psilocarpa (160,724 bp). Corchoropsis encodes 78 protein-coding genes, 30 tRNAs, and four rRNAs with a pseudogene inf A. Phylogenetic study revealed that Tilioideae is sister of Dombeyoideae. This study will contribute to define the genome structures, phylogenetic, and evolutionary studies of the genus Corchoropsis.

부곡통의 분류 (Taxonomical Classification of Bugog Series)

  • Alfisols로 분류되고 있는 부곡통을 재분류하기 위하여 부곡통 대표단면의 형태적 특성을 조사하고, Soil Taxonomy의 표 준 분 석 방 법 인 Soil Survey Laboratory Methods Manual에 따라서 토양을 분석하여 laboratory data sheets를 작성하였다. Ap층 (0~22 cm)은 진갈색 (7.5YR 4/6)의 양토이고, BAt층 (22~41 cm)은 갈색 (7.5YR 4/4)의 식양토, Bt1층 (41~59 cm)은 진갈색 (7.5YR 4/6)의 미사 질식양토, Bt2층 (59~78 cm)은 진갈색 (7.5YR 4/6)의 미사질식양토, Btx1층 (78~90 cm)은 진갈색 (7.5YR 4/6)의 미사질식양토, Btx2층 (90~160 cm)은 갈색 (7.5YR 4/4)의 미사질식양토이다. 부곡통은 화강편마암, 화강암, 또는 편암지대의 충적붕적층을 모재로 하는 토양으로 약한 경사지에 분포하며, 대부분 밭으로 이용되고 있다. Ap층 (0~22 cm)은 ochric 감식표층, BAt층에서 Btx2층 (22~160 cm)까지는 점토집적층인 argillic층을 보유하고, 78~160 cm 깊이에 fragipan을 보유하고 있다. 기준깊이인 fragipan 상부 경계 아래 75 cm 깊이인 153 cm 깊이에서의 염기포화도 (양이온 합)가 35.0% 미만으로 낮다. 따라서 부곡통은 Alfisols이 아니라 Ultisols로 분류되어야 한다. Udic 토양수분상을 보유하고 있으므로 부곡통은 Udults 아목으로 분류될 수 있다. 무기질 토양표면으로부터 100 cm 이내 깊이에 fragipan을 보유하고 있으므로 Fragiudults 대군의 분류기준을 충족시키고 있다. 우리나라 토양으로는 처음으로 보고되는 Fragiudults이다. 부곡통은 Fragiudalfs의 전형적인 특성을 나타내므로 아군은 Typic Fragiudults로 분류된다. 토성속 제어부 위에서의 토성속이 fine silty이고, mesic 토양온도상을 보유한다. 따라서 부곡통은 Fine loamy, mixed, mesic family of Typic Fragiudalfs가 아니라 Fine silty, mixed, mesic family of Typic Fragiudults로 분류되어야 한다.

대형 멀티 전자기 가진 시스템 설계 (Design of Large Multi-Electromagnetic Shaking System)

  • 우주환경시험팀에서는 발사환경 시 진동 시험을 위해 진동 테스트 장비를 운영 중에 있으며 이를 이용하여 여러 위성 프로그램의 환경시험을 성공적으로 수행하였다. 발사체 및 대형위성의 진동시험을 위한 대형 전자기 시스템의 요구를 충족시키기 위해, 직경 3m급 헤드익스펜더를 가진 대형 멀티 전자기 가진 시스템을 개발하고 있다. 개발 시스템은 160 kN의 추력을 가진 3대의 가진 시스템으로 구성되어 있으며 최대 8톤급 시험체의 진동시험과 300 kNm의 횡 하중 지지할 수 있도록 설계되었다. 본 연구에서는 대형 멀티 전자기 가진 시스템 개발 과정에서 요구되는 각 요소의 설계에 대한 연구 결과를 소개하고자 한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 위의 연구에서 제안되는 즉, 유동장 내에서 형식이 변화되는 새롭고 보다 정확한 형태의 와도방정식을 사용하여 평면 4:1수축을 지나는 유동을 수 치모사하고자 한다. 2장에서는 UCM유체의 평면 Poiseuille 유동 및 평면 4:1수축을 지나는 유동을 개략적으로 고찰하고, 유동장이 와도에 관하여 타원형 혹은 쌍곡선형으 로 구별될 수 있음을 밝힌다. 3장에서는 Murman과 Cole의 형식에 따른 차분법을 원 용하여 Crochet, Davies와 Walters의 유한차분법을 개선함으로써, 와도방정식을 수치 근사하는데 있어서, 타원형 구역에서는 중심차분 근사, 쌍곡선형 구역에서는 후진차분 근사하는 방법을 도입 한다. 4장에서는 본 연구의 계산 결과를 R=0에 대한 Davies, Lee와 Webster의 계산결과와 비교하고, 레이저를 이용한 Walters와 Rawlinson의 유동 가시화 실험과도 정성적인 비교를 한다.즉 유동함수의 분포를 실험 및 종래의 계산 결과와 비교하며, 와도, 응력의 분포를 와도의 형식변화 관점에서 검토하였다.

A Study on the Fundamental Surge Frequencies in Multi-Stage Axial Flow Compressor Systems

  • Surge phenomena in multi-stage axial flow compressors were studied with attention to the frequency behaviors. A new parameter "volume-modified reduced surge frequency" was introduced, which took into consideration the essential surge process, i.e., emptying and filling of the working gas in the delivery plenum. The behaviors of the relative surge frequencies at the stall stagnation boundaries, compared with the corresponding duct resonance frequencies, have demonstrated the existence of two types of surges; i.e., a near-resonant surge and a subharmonic surge. The former, which has fundamentally a near-resonance frequency, occurs predominantly at the stall stagnation boundary for the short -and-fat plenum delivery flow-path and the long-and-narrow delivery duct flow-path, and possibly in the intermediate conditions. The latter, which has a subharmonic frequency of the fundamental near-resonant one and occurs mainly in the intermediate zone, is considered to be caused by the reduced frequency restricted to a limited range. In relation with those dimensionless frequencies at the stall stagnation boundary, the surge frequency behaviors in more general situations away from the boundaries could be estimated, though very roughly.

에칭공정에서의 Panel-Scale Etching Uniformity 향상을 위한 에칭노즐 궤적예측에 관한 연구 (The Prediction of Nozzle Trajectory on Substrate for the Improvement of Panel-Scale Etching Uniformity)

  • In practical etching process, etch ant is sprayed on the metal-deposited panel through nozzles collectively connected to the manifold and that panel is usually composed of many PCB(printed circuit board)'s. The etching uniformity, the difference between individual PCB's on the same panel, has become one of most important features of etching process. In this paper, the prediction of nozzle trajectory has been performed by the combination of algebraic formula and numerical simulation. With the pre-determined geometrical factors of nozzle distribution, the trajectories of individual nozzles were predicted with the change of process operational factors such as panel speed, nozzle swing frequency and so on. As results, two dimensional distribution of impulsive force of etchant spray which could be considered as a key factor determining the etching performance have been successfully obtained. Though only qualitative prediction of etching uniformity have been predicted by the process developed in this study, the expansion to the quantitative prediction of etching uniformity is expected to be apparent by this study.

산업기계류의 소음 특성 (Characteristics of Industrial Machinery Noise)

  • As the various industrial machinery has come into being by development of industrial technology, the productivity of the basic industrial machinery has improved. However, at the same time, noise from various industrial machinery disturbs the quiet environment. There are 35 kinds of the noise emission machinery defined in the noise and vibration control act according to the horse power and the number of machinery. These were classified in 1992, and the characteristics of the noise emission machinery may be different from the past one. So we need to investigate the characteristics of the noise emitted by machinery to control it rightly. We measured sound intensity of 32 noise emission machinery to calculate the sound power levels of those and investigated the characteristics of the sound power level of those according to the frequency. We found that the forging machine, concrete pipe and pile making machine, sawing machine, etc. are noisy. The generator, the concrete pipe and pile making machine, etc. emit the low frequency noise, but the molding machine, the stone cutter, the metal cutter, etc. emit the high frequency noise.
