  • An explicit expression of the optimal investment strategy corresponding to the HARA utility function under the constant elasticity of variance (CEV) model has been given by Jung and Kim [6]. In this paper we give an explicit expression of the optimal solution for the extended logarithmic utility function. And we prove an a.s. convergence of the HARA solutions to the extended logarithmic one.

  • We study an optimization problem for hyperbolic absolute risk aversion (HARA) utility function under two-factor Heston's stochastic volatility model. It is not possible to obtain an explicit solution because our financial market model is complicated. However, by using asymptotic analysis technique, we find the explicit forms of the approximations of the optimal value function and the optimal strategy for HARA utility function.

  • This study was conducted to know the effect of soil moisture content on growth of aerial parts and root of Valeriana fauriei var. dayscarpa HARA in pot condition. The soil moisture contents were 30, 45, 55, 70, 80 and 90% of maximum water requirement. The result obtained are as follows; 1. Width and length of leaves in valerian were slightly increased with increase the soil moisture content, however, length of petiole and root were increased with soil moisture content up to 80%. 2. It showed the positive correlations between moisture content and root weight and extract content in root. 3. Optimum soil moisture content was 80 to 90% of maximum water requirement.

  • Hiroshi Hara is one of the most famous architect in the history of contemporary Japanese architecture. During the 1970's beginning with the Awazu Residence (1972), he designed a series of symmetrical houses, the so called 'Reflection House'. All the houses in this period were based on the method of 'reflection' and 'inversion', which means a radical reversal of the accepted notion that houses are parts of cities. A concept of "A house within a house" is expanded to "A city within a house". The important spatial characteristics of 'Reflection House' are main internal core and valley-like spaces forming internal urban streets by bringing natural elements and the components of streetscape such as plaza, open space, context of street facades and so on. This procedure is called as embedding 'city' into 'house', Hara mentioned. This paper investigates the outline of the 'Reflection House' and analyses the completed works of housing that were based on the theory. Then in the final part of the paper, the implications of 'Reflection House' and its influence on his later works of following period will be discussed.

A Study on the Method of Spatial Composition by the Operation on the Cladding in the Housing Design of Adolf Loos and Hiroshi Hara (아돌프 로스와 하라 히로시의 주거건축에 나타나는 피복의 조작을 통한 공간구성 기법에 관한 연구)

  • Adolf Loos and Hiroshi Hara are very well known for their distinctive method of spatial composition. Adolf Loos showed white silent outer facades from his strong aversion to the ornament, whereas dynamic and rich inner space by the principle called 'Raumplan' in his housing design. Hiroshi Hara, one of the most influential architects in modern Japanese architectural history, designed a series of controversial houses with radical design by his 'Yukotai Theory' and the thought of 'Reflection House'. Even they have no common in regional background or the period of their works, both similarly have shown their own focus on cladding surface as an important design language. From this point of view, this paper investigates the design method of those two architects focused on the similar points and also the differences of their approaches to cladding in housing design. In conclusion, in case of Adolf Loos, the cladding is a tool to create completely safe and pure inner space by separating from the outside. On the other hand, the cladding of Hiroshi Hara has the meaning of social ideology that individuals must follow the principles of a dominant structure, which is the reason why the cladding should be removed. However there exists something in common also. They radically denied the outer circumstances and had a firm belief that the requests from the inside living space were the more influential factors.

  • This work aimed to assess some pharmacological activities of P. leptostachya var. asiatica Hara. The dried roots of P. leptostachya var. asiatica Hara were extracted with 70% ethanol to generate the powdered extract, named PLE. Anti-angiogenic activity was detected using chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay. In vitro anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated via analyzing nitric oxide (NO) content, inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW264.7 macrophage cells. Antioxidant activity was determined by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay and reactive oxygen species (ROS) level in the stimulated macrophage cells. Matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) and -2 (MMP-2) activities in the culture media were detected using zymography. PLE exhibits an anti-angiogenic activity in the CAM assay, and displays an inhibitory action on the generation of NO in the LPS-stimulated macrophage cells. In the stimulated macrophage cells, it is able to diminish the enhanced ROS level. It can potently scavenge the stable DPPH free radical. It suppresses the induction of iNOS and COX-2 and the enhanced MMP-9 activity in the stimulated macrophage cells. Both monooxygenase and oxidase activities of tyrosinase were strongly inhibited by PLE. Taken together, the dried roots of P. leptostachya var. asiatica Hara possess anti-angiogenic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and skin whitening activities, which might partly provide its therapeutic efficacy in traditional medicine.

  • Fraxinus japonica Blume forma intermedia Hara, belonging to Oleacae Family, is growing in Korea. The identification of the species with the root bark extract is possible through the TLC method, and is more distinctive than through the PPC. The methanolextract of the root bark of Fraxinus japonica Blume forma intermedia Hara gave two coumarin glycosides, (fraxin $C_{16}M_{18}O_{10}$ and aesculin $C_{15}H_{16}O_9$) and mannitol.

  • The experiment was conducted to elucidate the optimum planting data and fertilization level of Aruncus dioicus var. kamtscacus HARA. Plant height was increased as the seeding date was delayed. There was no transparent difference on plant height indifferent fertilization level. Nuber of stems was remarkably increased in the fertilization 14-14-12kg. Fresh leaf yield in the fertilization of 24-18-15kg was incresed about 31% comparing in the fertilization of 14-14-12kg. As a result, the optimum planing date and fertilization level was Jan. 15 and 24-18-15kg per 10a, respectively.
