  • The vane type air-motor hand-piece is used widely in the dental services. There are a lot of experimental studies about air-motor but eccentrically off not many numerical studies by using Computational Fluid Dynamics. An air-motor has rotor which rotates at the center of inner housing. The retractable vanes are installed on the rotor. As the rotor of the air-motor rotates, vanes move up and down straightly in the radial direction along the guide. Therefore we have to analyze the unsteady flow field by accurate time dependent marching technique. ANSYS 12.0 CFX is used to analyze unsteady vane-motor flow field Analysis of the changing control volume inside air-motor is implemented by user-defined functions and moving mesh options. Rotational speed of the rotor is approximately 23,000rpm.

  • Chitosan treatment of textile fabrics has been studied to improve fabric characteristics and functions. Natural dyestuffs have been more actively employed in environment-conscious finishing products. In this study, chitosan treated cotton and nylon fabrics were prepared for dyeing with a few natural dyestuffs. These were Caesalpina sappan, Gardenia jasminoides, and cochineal in the form of powder. Hand-related physical and mechanical properties and luster characteristics were examined using the KES-FB series instruments and a set of luster measuring equipment. The chitosan treatment seemed to be more effective in terms of increasing stiffness for cotton fabric. Since cotton fibers have more -OH groups in the molecules, they provide more linkage sites with the chitosan than the nylon 6 fibers do.

  • This study demonstrates that certain personal and task factors can be modelled to predict slip potential as well as back loadings durings dynamic pushing and pulling tasks. Such tasks are com- mon to many manual material handling jobs in industry and the results of this work will hopefully be of use in improved job design. The objective of this research is to formulate and validate a dynamic biomechanical model of pushing and pulling a cart. For pushing and pulling tasks, the model can : (1) estimate foot forces for given hand forces, and (2) estimate tors muscle and vertabral column loadings. In order to formulate and validate the model, experiments involving pushing and pulling of a cart were performed. These experiments produced data of the following type : (1) dynamic forces on the feet, (2) hand forces required to move the cart, (3) body motions as functions of various cart motion and (4) back muscle actions. The model was validated using three different methods; precision was tested using correlation between predicted and measured results, accuracy using standard error between of predicted and measured results, and intuitive comparison of predicted results using sensitivity analyses.

  • Nowadays, due to the popularization of mobile phone, the functions and using manners of mobile phone have been varied. According to Korea National Statistical Office, the numbers of domestic mobile phone user were 30 million at the end of March 2002. A survey was conducted to investigate the various using manners of mobile phone, especially the young ones from 15 to 28 years old. Two hundred and sixty people participated in this study. According to the result of this study, text messaging was one of the major functions of the mobile phone for the young people. Also, continuous and repetitive use of small key pad of mobile phone for text messaging could cause the repetitive strain injury on hand, especially fingers.

  • We present galaxy luminosity functions (LFs) of subgroups in the Ursa Major cluster. The membership of galaxies is determined by radial velocities which are compiled from the SDSS and NED. We found that the faint end slope (${\alpha}$) of the LF of all sample galaxies in Ursa Major is ${\alpha}=-1.13$. This is consistent with previous result, but shallower than that of the Virgo cluster. Interestingly, the subgroups in Ursa Major show different slopes in their LFs. The NGC 3992 and NGC 4111, the massive subgroups in the Ursa Major cluster, exhibit steep slopes of their LFs comparable to that of the Virgo cluster. On the other hand, less massive group (NGC 3877) shows a very shallow slope of -0.84. Based on the results, we discuss the evolution of galaxies and the assembly history of the Ursa Major cluster.

  • This paper presents a methodology of estimating incomplete information in electricity markets for analyzing the gaming behavior of Generating Companies (GENCOs). Each GENCO needs to model its opponents' unknown information of strategic biddings and cost functions. In electricity markets with complete information, each GENCO knows its rivals' payoff functions and tries to maximize its own profit at Nash equilibriurnl Nli) by acknowledging the rivals' cost function. On the other hand, in the incomplete information markets, each GENCO lacks information about its rivals. Load patterns can change continuously due to many factors such as weather, price, contingency, etc. In this paper, we propose the method of the estimation of the opponents' cost function using market price, transaction quantities. and customer load patterns. A numerical example with two GENCOs is illustrated to show the basic idea and effectiveness of the proposed methodology.

  • In this article, we discuss classes of generalized functions for certain modified integral operator of Bessel-type involving Fox's H-function kernel. We employ a known differentiation formula of Fox's H-function to obtain the definition and properties of the distributional modified Bessel-type integral. Further, we derive a smoothness theorem for its kernel in a complete countably multi-normed space. On the other hand, using an appropriate class of convolution products, we derive axioms and establish spaces of modified Boehmians which are generalized distributions. On the defined spaces, we introduce addition, convolution, differentiation and scalar multiplication and further properties of the extended integral.

  • As social media started to work as important communication tools, social media users have tried to manage their image, identity, and impression through social media. Social media service providers have been interested in providing various functions effectively disclosing users' emotion, such as posting, commenting, and sharing content; on the other hand, relatively few efforts have been made to provide social media functions for information suppression. In this study, therefore, we attempt to examine the relationship between Facebook users' personality and impression management behaviors. Personal traits of users including public self-consciousness, positive self-expression, and honest self-expression were considered as independent variables. Impression management behaviors are composed of two variables, which are suppression and projection. The survey was conducted, targeting 230 Facebook users. The research findings show that public self-consciousness and positive self-expression are positively associated with information suppression while both positive and honest self-expression is positively associated with information projection.
