Hardware Abstraction Architecture for Low Cost Flash Memories in Wireless Sensor Nodes (무선 센서 노드상의 저가형 플래시 메모리를 위한 하드웨어 추상화 구조)

  • In this parer, we propose a hardware abstraction architecture(HAA) for low cost flash memories that can be applicable to wireless sensor nodes. The proposed HAA consists of three layers. The three layers are 1) HHL(Hardware Interlace Layer), HAL(Hardware Adaption Layer), and HPL(Hardware Presentation Layer), where HIL provides a platform independent interlace to applications of upper layers, HAL performs hardware resource management, program status control, and generation of logical instructions as main core of the HAA, and HPL initializes hardware and communicates data between MCU and flash memory. We implemented our HAA on AT45DB flash memory, and the HAA used 4,384 bytes program memory and 195 bytes data memory respectively. Since the proposed HAA is composed of well defined three layers and shows a low utilization of memory, it can provides a high efficiency in terms of flexibility, scalability, and re-usability, and thus the HAA is well suited for wireless sensor nodes.

  • The implement of JAVA API for supporting the embedded system is capable of developing the object oriented system with code reuse because the developer is able to use JAVA in the embedded system. The system dependant parts for implementing JAVA API are realized from a native function. In this paper, we devide JAVA API into the platform-independent JAVA part and platform-dependent native part for the implementation of JAVA API to manage the linux based embedded system devices, and focus on the control of the embedded system devices using JAVA API.

  • We propose a method for the implementation of an EtherCAT communication bus in a Linux-based open source Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) system. Recently, increasingly more CNC systems support real-time Ethernet protocols such as EtherCAT, which is a high-performance industrial communication protocol. For real-time CNC control over an Ethernet-based protocol, an additional layer driver needs to be implemented between the CNC system and the master of industrial communication protocol. Among the various solutions for the connection layer driver, we employ a Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) driver based on Linux. The operation of the implemented CNC system is demonstrated and confirmed by Hal Meter, which is used to observe the pins, signals, or parameters of HAL.

Kosinostatin, a Major Secondary Metabolite Isolated from the Culture Filtrate of Streptomyces violaceusniger Strain HAL64

  • During a screening program, an actinomycete strain isolated from the Egyptian soil was investigated for its potential to show antimicrobial activity. The identification of this isolate was performed according to spore morphology and cell wall chemo-type, which suggested that this strain is a streptomycete. Further cultural, physiological characteristics and the analysis of the nucleotide sequence of the 16S rRNA gene (1480 bp) of this isolate indicated that this strain is identical to Streptomyces violaceusniger (accession number EF063682) and then designated S. violaceusniger strain HAL64. In its culture supernatant, this organism could produce one major compound strongly inhibits the growth of Gram-positive but the inhibition of Gram-negative indicator bacteria was lower. The antibiotic was separated by silica gel column chromatography and then purified on a sephadex LH-20 column and finally the purity was checked by HPLC. The chemical structure of the purified compound was determined using spectroscopic analyses (molecular formula of $C_{33}H_{32}N_{2}O_{10}$ and molecular weight of 617.21) and found to be identical to the kosinostatin, a quinocycline antibiotic which is known to be produced by Micromonspora sp. TP-A0468 (Igarashi et al., 2002) and to quinocycline B isolated from Streptomyces aureofaciens (Celmer et al., 1958). Although the antibiotic is known, the newly isolated strain was able to produce the antibiotic as a major product providing an important biotechnological downstream advantage.

  • This paper describes the design of a high-level synthesis system. SODAS-VP. which automatically generates hardwares executing operation sequences in pipelined fashion.Target architecture and clocking schemes to drive pipelined datapath are determined, and the handling of pipeline hazards which degrade the performance of pipeline is considered. Partitioning of an operation into load, operation, and store stages, each of which is executed in partitiones control step, is performend. Pipelinecl hardware is generated by handling pipeline hazards with internal forwarding or delay insertion techniques in partitioning process and resolving resource conflicts among the partitioned control steps with similarity measure as a priority function in module allocation process. Experimental results show that SODAS-VP generates hardwares that execute faster than those generated by HAL and ALPS systems. SODAS-VP brings improvement in execution speed by 17.1% and 7.4% comparing with HAL and ALPS systems for a MCNC benchmark program, 5th order elliptical wave filter,respectively.

  • In this paper, we deals with operator allocation and binding in high-level synthesis. We proposed a new methode to allocation and bind for scheduled operations on each control step after scheduling. Especially, we take account ILP formulation in order to get optimal allocation and binding result. Experiment was done on the HAL DFG model of Differential Equation, to show it's effectiveness.

  • Archidium ohioense Schimp. ex Müll. Hal.는 국내 자생 정보가 부족했던 종으로 본 연구를 통해 경기도 연천군 전곡읍 간파리 감악산에서 신분포지를 확인하였다. A. ohioense가 속하는 Archidium Brid. (Archidiaceae)는 극지방을 제외한 아열대지역에서 온대지역까지 분포하며, 총 36종이 생육하는 것으로 알려져 있고, 최근 anti-inflammatory와 antisickling potentials에 관한 효능 연구가 수행되고 있다. A. ohioense의 잎은 난상피침형~삼각상피침형으로 잎가장자리는 밋밋하나 잎끝에 미세한 치돌기가 있다. 잎맥은 굵고 1개이며 잎끝까지 또는 짧게 돌출되어 있다. 중앙세포는 마름모형, 긴 선형의 마름모형이고, 익부세포는 마름모형에서 직사각형이다. 추후 분자생물학적인 연구 및 생태학적인 연구가 추가된다면 안정적인 자원화에 기여할 수 있을 것이라 사료된다.

  • HALS (Hypermidia Aided Learning System) is very useful computer networking educational system in knowledge-driven society, and has been developed by Kyungwon University. This system has three characteristics; 1) face-to-face learning, 2) ultra high-speed information networking, 3) web-based hypermedia courseware. So, the purpose of this paper is to introduce the application to engineering educational program (electrical engineering: electric power system, control system). For this purpose it is described the definition and characteristics of HALS. Next, it is represented the model of electrical engineering educational program applied to HALS and the developed courseware.

A Study on UV Degradation of SBR and NR Containing Polymeric UV Stabilizer (고분자형 자외선 안정제를 함유한 SBR과 NR의 UV 노화 거동에 관한 연구)

  • The retardation effects of a new polymeric UV stabilizer, DGEBA-HALS, on the UV degradation of SBR and NR were investigated in this study. The UV degradation behaviors of three different rubber compounds, without any photostabilizer and with commercial Cyabsorb UV-3529 and DGEBA-HALS, were compared. Also, the physical characteristics such as Young's modulus, tensile strength, blow-off deformation and crosslink density were examined. The Young's modulus was increased by UV irradiation for all samples, and the tensile strength, after UV irradiation, of the compound with UV stabilizer was better than that of the compound without stabilizer. Especially, the tensile strength of UV irradiated NR was improved by adding DGEBA-HALS. The results of blow-off deformation were in accord with those of Young's modulus. The degree of transmission of SBR compounds obtained from UV-vis transmission spectra was improved about 4% by adding the UV stabilizer. Commercial Cyabsorb UJV-3529 and DGEBA-HALS showed similar trends of transmission. The SEM photographs of SBR surface showed that the size of cracks created by UV irradiation became smaller by adding UV stabilizer. In particular, it is observed that the stabilization effect of DGEBA-HALS was better than that of commercial Cyabsorb UV-3529.
