Chiral [Iminophosphoranyl]ferrocenes: Synthesis, Coordination Chemistry, and Catalytic Application

  • A series of new chiral [iminophosphoranyl]ferrocenes, {${\eta}^5-C_5H_4-(PPh_2=N-2,6-R_2-C_6H_3)$}Fe{${\eta}^5-C_5H_3-1-PPh^2-2-CH(Me)NMe_2$} (1: R = Me, $^iPr$), {${\eta}^5{-C_5H_4-(PPh_2=N-2,6-R_2}^1-C_6H_3)$}Fe{${\eta}^5-C_5H_3-1-(PPh_2=N-2,6-R_2-C_6H_3)-2-CH(Me)R_2$} (2: $R^1\;=\;Me,\;^iPr;\;R^2\;=\;NMe_2$, OMe), and $({\eta}^5-C_5H_5)Fe${${\eta}^5-C_5H_4-1-PR_2-2-CH(Me)N=PPh_3$} (3:R = Ph, $C_6H_{11}$) have been prepared from the reaction of [1,1'-diphenylphosphino-2-(N,N-dimethylamino) ethyl]ferrocene with arylazides (1 & 2) and the reaction of phosphine dichlorides ($R_3PCl_{2}$) with [1,1'-diphenylphosphino-2-aminoethyl]ferrocene (3), respectively. They form palladium complexes of the type $[Pd(C_3H_5)(L)]BF_4$ (4-6: L = 1-3), where the ligand (L) adopts an ${\eta}^2-N,N\;(2)\;or\;{\eta}^2$-P,N (3) as expected. In the case of 1, a potential terdentate, an ${\eta}^2$-P,N mode is realized with the exclusion of the –=NAr group from the coordination sphere. Complexes 4-6 were employed as catalysts for allylic alkylation of 1,3-diphenylallyl acetate leading to an almost stoichiometric product yield with modest enantiomeric excess (up to 74% ee). Rh(I)-complexes incorporating 1-3 were also prepared in situ for allylic alkylation of cinnamyl acetate as a probe for both regio- and enantioselectivities of the reaction. The reaction exhibited high regiocontrol in favor of a linear achiral isomer regardless of the ligand employed.

  • Six-coordinate molybdenum(Ⅴ)-oxo complexes, (R4N)[MoO(NCS)2L](R=CH3, C2H5, n-C4, H9) with S-methyl-3-(2-hydroxy-x-phenyl)methylenedithiocarbazate(L1: x=5-H) and its derivatives (L2:x=5-CH3, L3: x=3-CH3O, L4: x=5,6-C4H4 and L5: x=5-NO2) have been synthesized and the structural, spectral and electrochemical properties of the complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivity, UV-Vis, IR, 1H NMR, and CV (cyclic voltammetry).

Protective Effects of Dohongsamul-tang on Zinc-mediated Cytotoxicity in H9c2 Cardiomyoblast Cells (산화적 손상에 의해 유발된 심근세포 독성에 대한 도홍사물탕의 방어효과)

  • The water extract of Dohongsamul-tang(DHSMT)has been traditionally used for treatment of ischemic heart in oriental medicine. However, little is known about the mechanism by which the water extract of DHSMT rescues cells from these damages. Therefore, this study was designed to evaluate the protective effects of DHSMT on zinc-mediated cytotoxicity in H9c2 cardiomyoblast cells. This study demonstrates that treatment of H9c2 cells with zinc caused a decrease in cell viability in a dose dependent manner and a chromatin condensation. Zinc induced the cleavage of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP). In addition, zinc induced the decrease of Bcl-2, as well as increase of Bak expression and mitochondrial dysfunction. Zinc-induced H9c2 cell death was remarkably prevented by the pretreatment of DHSMT with consistent suppression of the cleavage of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP), mitochondrial dysfunction and the expression of Bak and Bcl-2. Taken together, the results suggest that zinc induced severe cell death in H9c2 cardiomyoblast cells via intracellular GSH(reduced glutathione) depletion and the protective effects of DHSMT against oxidative injuries may be achieved through modulation of mitochondrial dysfunction and scavenging of ROS(reactive oxygen species).

The Complexes of Iodine with Ortho-Substituted Anilines in Carbon Tetrachloride (오르토 치환 아닐린과 요오드 사이의 착물에 관한 연구)

  • The interactions of aniline, o-toluidine, o-ethylaniline and o-chloroaniline with iodine in carbon tetrachloride solution have been examined through spectrophotometric measurements. The results indicate that both aniline and the o-substituted anilines examined form one-to-one complexes with I2in solution. The formation constants of the complexes measured at room temperature are 12.8, 9.31, 3.15 and 0.576 l $mole^{-1}$, respectively. Comparison of these results with previous experimental results indicates that the relative stabilities of the $I_2$-amine complexes decrease in the following order: $C_6H_5N(C_2H_5)_2 >C_6H_5N(CH_3)_2 >C_6H_5NH_2 >o-CH_3C_6H_4NH_2 >o-C_2H_5C_6H_4NH_2 >o-ClC_6H_4NH_2$. This may support the conclusion that the relative stabilities of these complexes are explained by the inductive effect and steric hindrance of the substituents.

  • Reactions of [Cp*Ir(η3-CH2CHCHPh)(NCMe)]OTf (1) with HC≡CR (R = H, CH2OH) in the presence of bases, B (B=NEt3, PPh3, AsPh3) produce stable Cp*Ir-η3-allyl-alkenyl compounds [Cp*Ir(η3-CH2CHCHPh)(-CH=CH-+B)]OTf (2) and [Cp*Ir(η3-CH2CHCHPh)(-C(CH2OH)=CH- +PPh3)]OTf (3), respectively in high yields. Cp*Ir-η3-allyl-alkynyl compounds Cp*Ir(η3-CH2CHCHPh(-C≡C-R') (4) and Cp*(η3-CH2CHCHPh)Ir-C≡C-p-C6H4-C≡C-Ir(η3-CH2CHCHPh)Cp* (5) have been prepared from reactions of 1 with HC≡CR'(R' = C6H5, p-C6H4CH3, C3H5, C6H9) and HC≡C-p-C6H4-C≡CH in the presence of NEt3.

  • Two new nickel vanadium borophosphate cluster compounds, $(NH_4)_{10}[Ni(H_2O)_5]_4[V_2P_2BO_{12}]_6{\cdot}nH_2O$ (1) and $(NH_4)_{3.5}(C_3H_{12}N_2)_{3.5}[Ni(H_2O)_6]_{1.25}{[Ni(H_2O)_5]_2[V_2P_2BO_{12}]_6{\cdot}nH_2O$ (2) have been synthesized and structurally characterized. Inter-diffusion methods were employed to prepare the compounds. The cluster anion $[(NH_4)\;{\supset}\;V_2P_2BO_{12}]_6$ is used as a building unit in the synthesis of new compounds containing $Ni(H_2O){^{2+}_5}$ in the presence of pyrazine and 1,3-diaminopropane. Compounds contain isolated cluster anions with general composition ${[Ni(H_2O)_5]_n[(NH_4)\;{\supset}\;V_2P_2BO_{12}]_6}^{-(17-2n)}$ (n = 2, 4). Crystal data: $(NH_4)_{10}[Ni(H_2O)_5]_4[V_2P_2BO_{12}]_6{\cdot}nH_2O$, monoclinic, space group C2/m (no. 12), a = 27.538(2) ${\AA}$, b = 20.366(2) ${\AA}$, c = 11.9614(9) ${\AA}$, ${\beta}$ = 112.131(1)$^{\circ}$, Z = 8; $(NH_4)_{3.5}(C_3H_{12}N_2)_b[Ni(H_2O)_6]_{3.5}{[Ni(H_2O)_5]_2[V_2P_2BO_{12}]_6{\cdot}nH_2O$, triclinic, space group P-1 (no. 2), a = 17.7668(9) ${\AA}$, b = 17.881(1) ${\AA}$, c = 20.668(1) ${\AA}$, ${\alpha}$ = 86.729(1)$^{\circ}$, ${\beta}$ \ 65.77(1)$^{\circ}$, ${\gamma}$ = 80.388(1)$^{\circ}$, Z = 2.

  • The cultural conditions of the osmophilic yeasts for higher concentration of NaCl selected in the previous report were examined and the results obtained were as follows. 1) The strain $T_3\;and\;T_8$ were grown exceedingly well on the media containing 15 percent of NaCl and $T_5\;and\;T_9,\;T_{10}\;and\;T_{11}$ on the media containing 5 percent of NaCl. 2) The optimum temperature for growth of the strain $T_3\;and\;T_5$ was $30^{\circ}C,\;T_8\;T_{10}$ and $T_{11}\;was\;25^{\circ}C\;and\;T_9\;was\;35^{\circ}C.$ 3) Their lethal temperature was $60^{\circ}C$ (treatment for 10 minutes). 4) The optimum pH for growth of the strain $T_3\;and\;T_8$ was pH 4.0, $T_5$ was pH 6.0 and $T_9\;T_9\;and\;T_{11}$ was pH 5.0, respectively.

  • The molecular and crystal structure of Tricyclazole, C/sub9/H/sub7/N₃S, has been determined by single crystal x-ray diffraction study. Crystallographic data for title compound: Pca2₁, a=14.889(1) Å, b=7.444(1) Å, c=15.189(2) Å, V=1683.3(3) ų, Z= 8. The molecular structure model was solved by direct methods and refined by full-matrix least-squares. The final reliable factor, R, is 0.047 for 1533 independent reflections (F/sub o//sup 2/)). The asymmetry unit contains two molecules which are in plate conformation, parallel to each other and related by a pseudo four-fold screw on the b-direction.

The Isolation of Bacillus sphaericus 366M-9 Producing New Cephalosporin-C Deacetylase (CAH) and its Enzymatic Characterization (신규 Cephalosporin-C Deacetylase(CAH) 생산 균주인 Bacillus sphaericus 366M-9의 선발 및 그 효소학적 특성)

  • Several microorganisms (esterase-producing group) were isolated by the solid selective media containing-naphtylacetate. Among them, strain 366M-9 having a high activity of cephalosporin-C deacetylase (CAH; EC 3.1.1.41) was selected. The strain 366M-9 was identified as Bacillus sphaericus on the basis of morphological, physiological, and biochemical characteristics. The production of CAH reached at maximum value after 32 hrs, when cultivated in the optimal medium containing dextrin 2.5%, peptone 2.5%, sodium chloride 0.5%, dipotassium phosphate 0.25%, ferrous sulfate 0.02%, and 7-ACA 0.1% at $30^{\circ}C$ with initial pH 6.0. The CAH was purified by 3 steps with ammonium sulfate precipitation, adsorption chromatography on hydroxyapatite column, and Sephadex G-200 gel chromatography. The final enzyme preparation was homogeneous as judged by the analysis of SDS-PAGE and HPLC. Optimum temperature and pH for CAH activity were $50{\circ}C$ and around 7.0, respectively. And the enzyme was stable at pH 6.0~8.0, up to $50^{\circ}C$. The Michaelis-Menten constants ($K_{m}$ ), $V_{max}$ were 0.87 mM and 1.22 unit/ml, respectively.

  • The intercalated compounds of alkylsulfonates into hydrated zinc were synthesized. From the high temperature powder X-ray diffraction (HTXRD), FT-IR, and molecular size, the temperature dependence of orientation for the intercalated alkylsulfonates were determined. In the temperatures range 1, alkylsulfonates were intercalated into hexa aqua zinc layer with the bilayer structure of $32.9^{\circ}$angle for ${Zn(H_2O_4]^{2+}[C_nH_{2n+1}SO_3]_2\;^-$. In the temperatures range 2, alkylsulfonates were intercalated into tetra aqua zinc layer with the bilayer structure of $55.2^{\circ}$angle for ${Zn(C_nH_{2n+1}SO_3)_2$. In the temperatures range 3, alkylsulfonates were directly bonded to zinc ion with the bilayer structure of $76.5^{\circ}$angle for ${Zn(C_nH_{2n+1}SO_3)_2$.
