A Study on the Fault-Tolerant and Bumpless Switching Control for Boiler Systems in the Power Plant (발전용 보일러 시스템의 이상허용 및 과도상태의 유연한 제어에 관한 연구)

  • In this research a fault-tolerant and bumpless switching control is proposed for boiler systems used in the power plants. Firstly, three operating points are selected to control the nonlinear boiler through the full operational range, and the $H_{\infty}$ loop shaping controller and the model-based predictive controller(MBPC) are designed. To prevent the windup and bump problems which are caused by the actuator saturation and the controller switching, an anti-windup and bumpless transfer technique is adopted to the $H_{\infty}$ loop shaping controller. Also the constrained gain-scheduling technique is applied to MBPC to achieve the same objective. Secondly, the fault-tolerant control technique is proposed to continue the control action without stopping the boiler operation even in case of some faults. Through various simulation studies, the performances of the proposed control techniques are demonstrated.

  • For active noise control system, one would choose one of two methods: Fixed control design and Adaptive filter design. Each one has its own advantages. But fixed controller design method prefer for active noise control in a small cavity system. In this paper, we design a controller for the small cavity system using CDM and compare controller using CDM with $H{\infty}$. The order of the resulting controller is lower than that of the robust $H{\infty}$ design, which means CDM will be more prefer for implementation purpose designs.

  • In this paper, a robust levitation controller for an attractive MAGLVE system is designed. The design of an H$\infty$ controller based on LMI method is proposed for the control of a simple magnetic levitation system. Attractive MAGLEV system is highly nonlinear and open-loop unstable, and has a very restricted equilibrium region, Also, this system has to tolerate various disturbances caused by propulsion.   • In this paper, we discuss an observer-based fault tolerant controller design for the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems with exogenous disturbance. To derive robust controller design conditions, we use $H_{\infty}$ design technique. The design conditions are derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities. An illustrative example is provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.

  • In this paper, we design a tracking controller which satisfies transient response specifications and maintains tracking error within a tolerable limit for the uncertain track-following system of an optical disk drive. To this end, a robust $H_{\infty}$ control problem with regional stability constraints and sinusoidal disturbance rejection is considered. The internal model principle is used for rejecting the sinusoidal disturbance caused by eccentric rotation of the disk. We show that a condition satisfying the regional stability constraints can be expressed in terms of a linear matrix inequality (LMI) using the Lyapunov theory and S-procedure. Finally, a tracking controller is obtained by solving an LMI optimization problem involving two linear matrix inequalities. The proposed controller design method is evaluated through an experiment.

  • This paper presents a robust tracking controller design method for the track-following system of an optical recording device. A tracking loop gain adjustment algorithm is introduced to accurately estimate the tracking vibration quantity in spite of the uncertainties of the tracking actuator. A minimum tracking open-loop gain is calculated by the estimated tracking vibration quantity and a tolerable limit of tracking error. A robust tracking controller is designed by considering a robust $H_\infty$ control problem with the weighting function of a slightly larger gain than the minimum tracking open-loop gain. The proposed controller design method is applied to the track-following system of an optical recording device and is evaluated through the experimental result.

  • This paper proposes a reference model following control system using fuzzy logic controller and genetic algorithm. A fuzzy logic controller is designed such that plant output follows the output generated by a reference model. In this paper, First-order and second-order reference model with no overshoot and fast rise time is designed. Experiment results show the effectiveness of the proposed controller in tracking property and robustness.

  • In this paper, we describe a design procedure for cascade controller for induction motor drives based on Genetic Algorithms(GAs). Most electric drives have two separate controllers for current and speed control, which are in general designed in two consecutive steps(firstly the current controller and then the speed controller). We search simultaneously for the couple of discrete anti-windup controllers achieving the optimal compromise of weighted cost and performance indices related to both current and speed responses.

  • This paper presents a design technique of the FPID controller for the load frequency control of power system. parameters of FPID controller are self-tuned by the fuzzy inference algorithm. The computer simulation results show that the proposed controller are more excellent control characteristics than conventional in transient-state and steady-state response.

  • The Two-Mass Spring(TMS or Two-Inertia Resonance) system is one of the simplest models which generate a torsional vibration. In this system, it is required to design a controller achieving the control performance while suppressing the torsional vibration. In this paper, we compared and considered with the state feedback effects for the TMS system. By connecting each controller design to the state feedback control, we could predict each controller performances and decide weighting functions and parameters of LQ and $H_\infty$ controller.
