A heavy duty hydrogen-natural gas fueled engine can obtain stable operation at ultra lean conditions and reduce emissions extremely. Reduction of $CO_2$ in its engine is one of the most benefit. In this study, rate of hydrogen addition($R_{dH2}$) and compression ratio($\varepsilon$) were investigated including performance of this engine. As results, it was found that phenomenon of pressure oscillation when increasing $R_{dH2}$ and $\varepsilon$, it means occurring knock. It consider that pressure oscillation was increased due to fast burning speed of hydrogen. Even if same compression ratio, pressure oscillation was remarkable increased according to increasing $R_{dH2}$. Therefore, limit compression ratio of knock occurring was reduced by increasing $R_{dH2}$.
Hydrodynamic characteristics such as gas holdup, liquid circulation velocity and bed expansion in a hexagonal inverse fluidized bed were investigated using air-water system by changing the ratio ($A_d$/$A_r$) of cross-sectional area between the riser and the downcomer, the liquid level($H_1$/H), and the superficial gas velocity($U_g$). The gas holdup and the liquid circulation velocity were steadily increased with the superficial gas velocity increasing, but at high superficial gas velocity, some of gas bubbles were carried over to a downcomer and circulated through the column. When the superficial gas velocity was high, the $A_d$/$A_r$ ratio in the range of 1 to 2.4 did not affect the liquid circulation velocity, but the maximum bed expansion was obtained at $A_d$/$A_r$ ratio of 1.25. The liquid circulation velocity was expressed as a model equation below with variables of the cross-sectional area ratio($A_d$/$A_r$) between riser to downcomer, the liquid level($H_1$/H), the superficial gas velocity($U_g$), the sparser height[(H-$H_s$)/H], and the draft Plate level($H_b$/H). $U_{ld}$ = 11.62U_g^{0.75}$${(\frac{H_1}{H})}^{10.30}$${(\frac{A_d}{A_r})}^{-0.52}$${(\frac({H-H_s}{H})}^{0.91}$${(\frac{H_b}{H})}^{0.13}$

This paper describes a new algorithm for pixel-based skin color detection to differentiate human form in color images by the ratio of R to H. In order to detect skin color efficiently, we examine the distribution of the R, G and B color elements combining to constitute the skin color in various color images. It shows that R is located in a narrower area than G and B on the RGB color space. And skin color is more related to R than G and B. Meanwhile, when the color image is transformed to the HSI color space, the S is variously changed in accordance with skin colors. The I is changed in accordance with the quantity and angle of light. But the H is less influenced by other conditions except for color. On the basis of the aforementioned study, we propose that the threshold for skin color detection is decided by the ratio of R to H. The proposed method narrows down the range of threshold, detects more skin color and reduces mis-detection of skin color in comparison to detection by R or H. In experimentation. it shows that the proposed algorithm overcomes changes of brightness and color to detect skin color in color images.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the validity examination of the J-R curve characteristics for the nuclear reactor pressure vessel steels and Al alloys by the load ratio analysis. The results of the load ratio analysis are compared with those of the J-R curve which are obtained by the ASTM unloading compliance method. The crack length calculated by the load ratio analysis is agree well with the measured final crack length. The slope of the exponential J-R curve estimated by the load ratio analysis is slightly smaller than that by the ASTM unloading compliance method. The J-R curve obtained by the ASTM unloading compliance method is over-predicted and should be offsetted due to the initial negative crack. On the other hand, the load ratio analysis method can evaluate the J-R curve by only load-displacement curve without particular crack measurement equipment.
In-situ soil remediation mechanism through the vertical drains (VDs) is analyzed with numerical model as the error and complementary error function. Results from in-situ test and analysis indicate that the contaminant concentration ratio as initial one ( C/$C_0$) increases as the radius ratio ( r/R) increases from the injection well, and also increases as the depth ratio ( z/ H) increases from the top of contaminated area. The elapse time needed to attain $50\%$ and $90\%$ clean up level ($ t_{50},\;t_{90}$) increases as the radius ratio ( r/R) and the depth ratio ( z/ H) increase. As above results, the procedure of soil flushing in contaminated area using vertical drains makes progress from the top of injection well to the bottom of extraction well.
This study aims to find out optimum condition for hydrogen production and organic removal when treating food and swine wastewater together. For this purpose, various batch tests were conducted by changing mixture ratio from 6:4 (food wastewater:swine wastewater) to 1:9 without pretreatment process. For hydrogen production through anaerobic fermentation, the mixture ratios of R-1 (6:4), R-2 (5:5) and R-6 (1:9) were out of pH range appropriate for hydrogen production and mixture ratios of R-3 (4:6), R-4 (3:7), and R-5(2:8) showed appropriate hydrogen production where their pH ranges were 5.1~5.5. Especially in case of R-3, it consistently maintained appropriate pH range for hydrogen production for 72hr and produced maximum hydrogen. The characteristics of hydrogen production and cumulative hydrogen production according to each mixture ratio showed that R-1, R-2 and R-6 did not produce any hydrogen, and maximum hydrogen productions of R-3, R-4 and R-5 were 593ml, 419ml and 90ml, respectively. Total cumulative hydrogen productions of R-3, R-4 and R-5 were 1690ml, 425ml and 96ml, respectively. Based on previous results, it was concluded that, the most appropriate mixture ratio of food wastewater and swine wastewate rwas 4:6 (R-3). The experiment for COD removal rate to evaluate organic removal efficiency revealed that R-3, R-4 and R-5 showed high removal efficiencies during the highest hydrogen production amount and the highest efficiency was 41% with R-3.
Silicon nitride films were deposited at $100^{\circ}C$ by using the catalytic chemical vapor deposition technique. The source gas mixing ratio, $R_N=[NH_3]/[SiH_4]$, was varied from 10 to 30, and the hydrogen dilution ratio, $R_H=[H_2]/[SiH_4]$, was varied from 20 to 100. The breakdown field strength reached a maximum value at $R_N=20$ and $R_H=20$, whereas the resistivity decreased in the same sample. The relative permittivity had a positive correlation with the breakdown field strength. The capacitance-voltage threshold curve showed an asymmetric hysteresis loop, which became more squared as $R_H$ increased. The width of the hysteresis window showed a negative correlation with the slope of the transition region, implying that the combined effect of $R_N$ and $R_H$ overides the interface defects while creating charge storage sites in the bulk region.
The present study investigated the earthquake behavior of R/C structures considering the vertical earthquake motion with the help of a comparative study. For this aim, the linear time-history analyses of a high-rise R/C structure designed according to TSC-2007 requirements were conducted including and excluding the vertical earthquake motion. Earthquake records used in the analyses were selected based on the ratio of vertical peak acceleration to horizontal peak acceleration (V/H). The frequency-domain analyses of the earthquake records were also performed to compare the dominant frequency of the records with that of the structure. Based on the results obtained from the time-history analyses under the earthquake loading with (H+V) and without the vertical earthquake motion (H), the value of the overturning moment and the top-story vertical displacement were found to relatively increase when considering the vertical earthquake motion. The base shear force was also affected by this motion; however, its increase was lower compared to the overturning moment and the top-story vertical displacement. The other two parameters, the top-story lateral displacement and the top-story rotation angle, barely changed under H and H+V loading cases. Modal damping ratios and their variations in horizontal and vertical directions were also estimated using response acceleration records. No significant change in the horizontal damping ratio was observed whereas the vertical modal damping ratio noticeably increased under H+V loading. The results obtained from this study indicate that the desired structural earthquake performance cannot be provided under H+V loading due to the excessive increase in the overturning moment, and that the vertical damping ratio should be estimated considering the vertical earthquake motion.
This study was conducted to estimate the ratio of Repair & Maintenance (R&M) costs to purchasing price that is one of the important factors for calculating the management costs of farm machinery. For this purpose, hour of use and R & M costs of power tiller and its attachments utilized results that were investigated with 400 sample units, 50 units by years of use from 1 to 8 years in 1988. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1. The ratio of R & M costs per hours and annual R & M costs, accumulated R & M costs when sercice life of power tiller is 7 years were 0.017%, 5.50% and 38.52%, respectively. And in case of rotary, these ratio when its service life is 6 years were 0.072%, 7.16% and 43.0%, respectively. 2. The relationship between accumulated hours of use(t) and accumulated R & M costs(Y) of power tiller and its attachments were $Y=19.3t^{1.3}$ in power tiller, $Y=0.03t^{2.09}$ in plow, $Y=48.84t^{1.25}$ in rotary and $Y=7.45t^{1.15}$ in trailer. 3. The ratio of accumulated R & M costs to purchasing price when service life of power tiller is 7 years was 38.5%, and in case of rotary, this ratio when its service life is 6 years was 43.0%.
Sol-gel derived silica films were prepared by dip-coating onto polymethylmethacylate with Tetraethoxysilane(TEOS) as starting materials. Film properties such as viscosity and thickness were investigated as a function of dip speed, waterprecursor ratio, sol aging time. IR spectra of the gel films prepared from TEOS at various R are given. At small values of R the absorption peaks assignable to C-H vibration in $-OC_2H_5$ groups are observed around 3000 and 1500-1300 $cm^{-1}$. These bands indicate that the -$-OC_2H_5$ groups are retained in the gel at small values of R because of incomplete hydrolysis of TEOS. Film behaviour was interpreted in terms of the dependence of hydrolysis and condensation rates on the interplay between sol pH and waterprecursor ratio. Film thickness was found to increase by approximately a factor of two as waterprecursor ratio increased from two to six. Film thickness also increased with sol prepolymerization time. Surface quality was correlated with processing conditions.
