This study suggested an optimized algorithm for detecting the loss of balance(LOB) in the seated position. And the sensitivity analysis was performed in order to identify the role of each design variable in the algorithm. The LOB algorithm consisted of data processing of measured signals, an internal model of the central nervous system and a control error anomaly(CEA) detector. This study optimized design variables of a CEA detector to obtain improved values of the success rate(SR) of detecting the LOB and the margin time(MT) provided for preventing the falling. Nine healthy adult volunteers were involved in the experiments. All the subjects were asked to balance their body in a predescribed seated posture with the rear legs of a four-legged wooden chair. The ground reaction force from the right leg was measured from the force plate while the accelerations of the chair and the head were measured from a couple of piezoelectric accelerometers. The measured data were processed to predict the LOB using a detection algorithm. Variables S2, h2 and hd are related to the detector: S2 represents a data selecting window, h2 a time shift and hd an operating period of the LOB detection algorithm. S2 was varied from 0.1 to 10 sec with an increment of 0.1 sec, and both h2 and hd were varied from 0.01 to 1.0 sec with an increment of 0.01 sec. It was found that the SR and MT were increased by up to 9.7% and 0.497 sec comparing with the previously published case when the values of S2, h2 and hd were set to 4.5, 0.3 and 0.2 sec, respectively. Also the results of sensitivity analysis showed that S2 and h2 had considerable influence on the SR while these variables were not so sensitive to the MT.
A mixed method between $H_2\;and\;H_{\infty}$ control are widely applied to systems which has parameter perturbation and uncertain model to obtain an optimal robust controller. Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) motors are widely used for high performance control applications. Conventional PID controller only provides satisfactory performance for set-point regulation. However, with the presence of nonlinearities, uncertainties and perturbations in the system, conventional PID is not sufficient to achieve an optimal robust controller. This paper presents an approach to ease designing a Mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ PID controller for controlling speed of Brushless DC motors and the genetic algorithm is used to solve the optimized problems. Numerical results are shown to prove that the performance in the proposed controller is better than that in the optimal PID controller using LQR approach.
This paper proposes a mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ optimal PID controller with a genetic algorithm based on the dynamic model of a brushless direct current (BLDC) motor and applies it to speed control. In the dynamic model of the BLDC motor with perturbation, the proposed controller guarantees arobust and optimal tracking performance to the desired speed of the BLDC motor. A genetic algorithm was used to obtain parameters for the PID controller that satisfy the mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ constraint. To implement the proposed controller, a control system based on PIC18F4431 was developed. Numerical and experimental results are shown to prove that the performance of the proposed controller was better than that of the optimal PID controller.
Multivarialbe Boiler-Turbine H_\infty Control System Genetic Algorithm Weighting Functions $W_1$(s), $W_2$(s), and design parameter $\gamma$ that are given by Glover-Doyle algorithm, to optimally follow the output of reference model. The first method to do this is that the gains of weighting functions $W_1$(s), $W_2$(s), and design parameter are optimized simultaneously by genetic algorithm with the tournament method that can search more diversely, in the search domain which guarantees the robust stability of system. And the second method is that not only by genetic algorithm with the roulette-wheel method that can search more fast, in that search domain. The boiler-turbine H_\infty control system designed by theabove second method has not only the robust stability to a modeling error but also the the better command tracking preformance than those of the H_\infty control system designed by trial-and-error method and the above first method. Also, this boiler-turbine H_\infty control system has the better performance than that of the LQG/LTR contro lsystem. The effectiveness of this boiler-turbineH_\infty control system is verified by computer simulation.
Water cycle algorithm (WCA) has been a very effective optimization technique for complex engineering problems. This study employs the WCA for simultaneous prediction of heating load (LH) and cooling load (LC) in residential buildings. This algorithm is responsible for optimally tuning a neural network (NN). Utilizing 614 records, the behavior of the LH and LC is explored and the captured knowledge is then used to predict for 154 unanalyzed building conditions. Since the WCA is a population-based algorithm, different numbers of the searching agents were tested to find the most optimum configuration. It was observed that the best solution is discovered by 500 agents. A comparison with five newly-developed benchmark optimizers, namely equilibrium optimizer (EO), multi-tracker optimization algorithm (MTOA), slime mould algorithm (SMA), multi-verse optimizer (MVO), and electromagnetic field optimization (EFO) revealed that the WCANN predicts the desired parameters with considerably larger accuracy. Obtained root mean square errors (1.4866, 2.1296, 2.8279, 2.5727, 2.5337, and 2.3029 for the LH and 2.1767, 2.6459, 3.1821, 2.9732, 2.9616, and 2.6890 for the LC) indicated that the most reliable prediction was presented by the proposed model. The EFONN, however, provided a more time-effective solution. Lastly, an explicit predictive formula was elicited from the WCANN.
We study on the velocity matching algorithm for transfer alignment of inertial navigation system(INS) using robust H$_2$ filter. We suggest an uncertainty model for INS and apply the suggested discrete robust H$_2$ filter to the uncertainty model compared with kalman filter, the discrete robust H$_2$ filter is shown by simulation to have good performance of alignment time and accuracy.
The AIS(Automatic Identification System) has to be developed SOTDMA(Self-Organized Time Division Multiple Access) Algorithm which is important on wireless communication method because It is based on ITU(International Telecommunication Union) M.1371-1 of the international standard therefore, we need to develop a performance evaluation simulator efficiently to develop and analyze SOTDMA Algorithm. This paper shows the method of designing it. The SOTDMA Algorithm driving state verifies the performance evaluation simulator by IEC(International Electrotechnical Commission) 61993-2. After verifying results the performance evaluation simulator is correctly satisfied with IEC 61993-2. So we expect that it helps not only the AIS technology developed but also verify new SOTDMA Algorithm.
Voltage quality problems such as voltage sag, swell, flicker, undervoltage, and overvoltage have been of great concern for both utilities and customers over the last decade. In this paper, a new approach based on the $H_{\infty}$ algorithm to monitor voltage disturbances is presented. The key idea of this approach is to estimate the amplitude of the fundamental component of distorted and noisy voltage waveform instantaneously, and then the information can be extracted from the estimated envelope to identify and classify different voltage related power quality problems. The $H_{\infty}$ algorithm is characterized by a fast tracking, unlike that of existing techniques. The $H_{\infty}$ algorithm outperforms the Kalman Filter (KF) by its fast convergence and robust tracking performance against non-Gaussian noise. The paper investigates the effects of various types of noise on the performance of the $H_{\infty}$ algorithm. Digital simulation results confirm the validity and accuracy of the proposed method. The proposed $H_{\infty}$ algorithm is examined by tracking the flicker produced by a resistance welder simulated in the PSCAD/EMTDC package.
In this paper, the genetic algorithm is used to design a mixed $H_2/H{\infty}$ controller. Two kinds of controller forms, Youla's form and the general form are considered to design a mixed $H_2/H{\infty}$ controller Efficient searching methods are sought to minimize the given $H_2$ cost function under the $H{\infty}$ constraint. It is verified by an example that the developed algorithm can provide stable results in the region where unstable results are shown by the conventional gradient method.
