Investigation of carprine arthritis-encephalitis from dairy goat in Jeonnam province (전남지역의 유산양 관절염.뇌염 감염 실태조사)

  • This survey was conducted to investigate the infection of caprine arthritis encephalitis virus (CAEV). From April to October 2007, we examined a total of 173 goats in 7 dairy goat-breeding farms located in Na-ju, Hae-nam, Young-am, and Young-gwang area of Jeonnam province. The results show that 41 (23.7%) goats are positive for CAEV, confirmed by nested PCR of 173 blood samples. Regional analysis revealed that a positive proportion for CAEV was 50.0% in Young-gwang, 25.6% in Young-am, 25.0% in Hae-nam, and 10.9% in Na-ju. Clinical signs were observed in 17 (9.8%) goats, of which 6 suffered from arthritis, 7 from mastitis, and 4 from pneumonia. Among the examined 173 goats, 8(4.6%) goats are positive for CAEV accompanied with CAE symptoms. There was a tendency to be much higher(p<0.05) levels of natrium(Na), chlorine(Cl) in CAEV-positive than in CAEV-negative goats. However, other serum biochemical values were no statistically significant effect.

A Pilot Study of Sa-am Acupuncture Treatment Used by Sham Acupuncture for the Simple Obesity (이중맹검용 피내침을 이용한 단순성 비만여성의 사암침 치료효과에 관한 임상선행연구)

  • Objectives : To present proper protocol as global standard- clinical study about acupuncture treatment, and to demonstrate effectiveness of Sa-am Acupuncture treatment for obesity. Methods : We randomly allocated participants to treatment group 1 and 2. The group 1 is treated by real acupuncture and the group 2 is treated by Kim Sham Acupuncture. We treated Bi-jang seung-gyeok (脾臟勝格) ; Daedon(LR1), EunBaek(SP1) Gyoung-geo(LU8) Sang-gu(SP5), to both group. Primary outcomes were measured by the Body Composition Analysis(Inbody. Korea). Secondary outcomes were measured by Blood Cholesterol, Triglyceride, HDL, LDL Cholesterol. Results : After treatment, the group 1 shown significant weight loss that analysed by Kruskal-Wallis certification, but didn't show notable change in body fat, total cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol. Group 2 didn't show significant change in body weight, body fat, triglyceride, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, but total cholesterol was notably decreased. Controled group was not changed in body weight, body fat. Aftter treatment, 3 groups didn't show significant change in body weight, body fat, triglyceride, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, total cholesterol.

Effects of Rice Koji on the Fermentation Characteristics of the Sik-hae from Sailfin Sandfish Arctoscopus japonicus (쌀코지가 도루묵(Arctoscopus japonicus) 식해의 발효특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted with a view toward enhancing the industrial utilization of a male sailfin sandfish Arctoscopus japonicus based on its application in the preparation of Sik-hae, a Korean traditional fermented fishery product prepared using hard-boiled rice and enzymatic malt sprouts. As an alternative to rice and malt sprouts, we evaluated the utility of rice Koji for Sik-hae fermentation by investigating the physicochemical changes that occur during fermentation. The sailfin sand fish Sik-hae fermented with 10% or 20% rice Koji was found to show similar fermentation characteristics to the control fermentation with 20% hard-boiled rice and 4% malt sprouts, with respect to acid production, texture profile, and the softening of bones during the entire fermentation period. In particular, compared with the control, the addition of 10% rice Koji reduced the dehydration of Sik-hae and increased the content of free amino acids, which contributed to preventing a marked reduction in pH during fermentation. Accordingly, 10% rice Koji is proposed as a viable alternative enzymatic agent for the preparation of Sik-hae, which can contribute enhancing the desired properties of this traditional food product.

  • 스마트 소형셀은 반경 100 미터 내외의 작은 서비스 영역을 가지며, 소형셀 환경의 무선 채널 및 간섭 특성을 잘 활용하는 다중 안테나 기술과 간섭 제어 기술이 접목된 시스템이다. 본 논문에서는 스마트 소형셀의 요소 기술을 소개하고, 도심형 지형환경에서 시스템 레벨 시뮬레이션으로 LTE 매크로셀 대비 단위 면적당 용량증대를 평가한다. 또한 상용 Software Defined Radio를 활용한 실시간 테스트베드구현으로 요소 기술들의 타당성(feasibility)을 보인다.

  • Objective : This study was carried out to investigate diagnostic difference and anti-oxidative effect of 3 different Anemarrhenae Rhizoma (AR) extracts. Methods : Microscopic examination was used to distinguish histological differences. And eliminative ability of several kinds of free radicals was also measured. Results : In microscopic examination, we can distinguished three different lineage of AR with different structure of vascular bundles and secretory structures. The extract of AR show profitable abilities of elimination of DPPH free radical, ABTS free radical and hydrogen peroxide. Conclusion : So, it can be concluded that AR extract has an anti-oxidative effects. Especially indeciduous lineage was most effective to remove free radicals.

  • Water Quality of effluent from wastewater treatment plants was reviewed to reuse effluent for agricultural water as alternative water resources. Among 2004, wastewater treatment plants, 19 plants are found to be used as wastewater resources applicable to irrigation. The total effluent capacities are 9,293 thousand $m^3$per day, which may be used to irrigate paddy fields. In order to know how much the effluent can be use for agricultural water, we classified the effluent according to the river basin area and evaluated the water quality of the effluent.

  • A GIS-based integrated system for reuse of effluent from wastewater treatment plants was developed in this study. The GIS-supported program classified attribute data which the effluent's quantity and quality and agricultural thematic map data according to the 5 big river basin area. From the database, showing the spatial variation of the water quality of the effluent, thereby proposing proper mitigation strategies over the watershed. Also, this system enables the users who is going to reuse the reclaimed water for their paddies to provide of all the wastewater treatment plant data and agricultural structures and thematic map data.

  • This paper proposes a simple compensation method for switches of the unclamped voltage in the three-level NPC inverter. Voltages of inner-switches can be unclamped in the three-level NPC (neutral point clamped) inverter. It can cause the problem of the switch fault accident. By adding a capacitor, switches of the unclamped voltage can be clamped. Through the analysis of the circuit, the reason behind switches being unclamped was verified which leads to the solution method that designs a compensation capacitor. The proposed method was validated through the simulation and experimental results.
