  • Objectives : This study investigated the correlation between the incidence by the climate of the day and the Stems and Branches(干支) of stroke patients. Methods : From January in 2000 to March in 2008, we studied 370 stroke patients hospitalized at Dongguk University Bundang Hospital. Each participant was investigated for the day's average temperature, the day's average air humidity, the day's average wind speed, and the day's Stems and Branches (干支) in oriental medical theory. Results: Concerning the day's average temperature, the group at a temperature under 18 $^{\circ}C$ had the highest risk. For the day's average air humidity, the group at over 60 % humidity showed a higher ratio of stroke. In respect of the day's average wind speed, the group at speeds under 2.26 $^m/s^2$ (the last 5 years average wind speed in Gyeonggi-do) had a higher risk. In the aspect of Stems and Branches (干支), stroke occurred more in Yin day(陰日) than in Yang day(陽日). In the view of the Five Circuits (五運), the Wood (木) was most common followed by Fire(火). Using the relation between Stems and Branches (干支), the mutuality cooperate pattern was more common than the mutuality control group and same characteristic group. Using the Theory of Five Circuits (五運) and Six Qi (六氣), the Fire group (火) showed the highest risk. The Wood group (木) came next. Conclusions : We could suggest that stroke attack might have some significant relationship with climate, stems, and branches in oriental medical theory.

  • The main aim of this study was to investigate side dishes served to guests of head families (Jong-ga) in Korea. In order to conduct of this research, we analyzed two books published by the Rural Development Administration (RDA) on the foods and the stories from head families: "Sharing beyond succession, stories and foods from the head families" and "Aesthetics of Serving". The total number of head families serving foods to guests was 10: 5 from Gyeongsangbuk-do, 2 from Jeollanam-do, 1 from Gyeonggi-do, 1 from Gyeongsangnam-do, and 1 from Chungcheongbuk-do. We classified the foods into 7 categories, staple dishes, side dishes, rice cakes, desserts, beverages, alcoholic beverages and others, on the basis of previous studies. Most foods served to guests were side dishes (119). These were further classified into 14 categories: Guk Tang, Namul, Hwe, Bokkeum, Mareunchan, Gui, Jorim, Pyeonyuk Jokpyoen Suran, Jiim Seon, Jeon Jeok, Jangajji, Kimchi, Jeotgal Sikhae and Jang. The most common side dish was Jangs (17), served by 8 head families. The next most common side dishes were Marenchan (15), Jeon Jeok (14) and Kimchi (11).

  • Two-dimensional van der Waals (2D vdWs) materials have been extensively studied for future electronics and materials sciences due to their unique properties. Among them, black phosphorous (BP) has shown infinite potential for various device applications because of its high mobility and direct narrow band gap (~0.3 eV). In this work, we demonstrate a few-nm thick BP-based nonvolatile memory devices with an well-known poly(vinylidenefluoride-trifluoroethylene) [P(VDF-TrFE)] ferroelectric polymer gate insulator. Our BP ferroelectric memory devices show the highest linear mobility value of $1159cm^2/Vs$ with a $10^3$ on/off current ratio in our knowledge. Moreover, we successfully fabricate the ferroelectric complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) memory inverter circuits, combined with an n-type $MoS_2$ nanosheet transistor. Our memory CMOS inverter circuits show clear memory properties with a high output voltage memory efficiency of 95%. We thus conclude that the results of our ferroelectric memory devices exhibit promising perspectives for the future of 2D nanoelectronics and material science. More and advanced details will be discussed in the meeting.

  • Organic solar cells have attracted much interest due to the potential advantage of the lightness, simple solution processing and flexibility. Until recently, the focus of organic solar cells research has been on optimization of material processing to improve the power conversion efficiency. However, area scaling is an important position for alternative to the market dominating solar cells. Spray deposition technologies have advantage of less material wastage and possibility of large scale photoactive area coating when compared with spin coating process. We investigated the performance of organic solar cells as a function of active area using two types of deposition process. The commonly used process is spin coating which can be fabricated organic materials deposition for devices. Spray deposition process compare with spin coating for large-area organic solar cells. The spray deposition organic layer shows excellent performance up to the active area of $4\;cm^2$ with the PCE of ~3.0 % under AM.1.5 simulated illumination with an intensity of $100mW/cm^2$. This indicates that the spray deposition process can be used as a mass production process for evaluating large-area organic solar cells.
