  • Purpose : This study compared bone ages measured by the Greulich-Pyle (GP) and Tanner-Whitehouse 3 (TW3) methods and investigated the differences in predicted adult heights measured by Bayley-Pinneau (BP) and TW3 methods. Methods : Bone ages were assessed from left-wrist radiographs by two investigators, one for each GP and TW3 methods in 85 normal children, 30 precocious puberty girls, and 30 constitutional growth delay boys. The differences between the measured predicted adult heights using the BP and TW3 methods were compared in each group. Results : The bone age measured by the TW3 method was less than that by the GP method in normal children. The predicted adult heights measured by the two methods showed no significant difference in normal boys, while the predicted adult height measured by the TW3 method was higher than that by the BP method for normal girls ($156.4{\pm}4.7$ cm vs. $158.9{\pm}3.8$ cm, P<0.01) and for precocious puberty girls ($156.3{\pm}4.0$ cm vs. $159.3{\pm}4.2$ cm, P<0.01). In contrast, the predicted adult height was higher from the BP method than from the TW3 method in constitutional growth delay boys ($173.3{\pm}4.4$ cm vs. $169.7{\pm}3.2$ cm, P<0.01). Conclusion : There were significant differences in predicted adult heights between the BP and TW3 method in normal girls, precocious puberty girls, or constitutional growth delay boys. In precocious puberty and constitutional growth delay, the BP method might be preferred to predict adult height, but further studies on final adult height are needed.

  • With the rapid growth of the Internet, the Internet-based robot has been realized by connecting off-line robot to the Internet. However, because the Internet is often irregular and unreliable, the varying time delay in data transmission is a significant problem for the construction of the Internet-based robot system. Thus, this paper is concerned with the development of an Internet-based robot system, which is insensitive to the Internet time delay. For this purpose, the PPS (Position Prediction Simulator) is suggested and implemented on the system. The PPS consists of two parts : the robot position prediction part and the projective virtual scene part. In the robot position prediction part, the robot position is predicted for more accurate operation of the mobile robot, based on the time at which the user's command reaches the robot system. The projective virtual scene part shows the 3D visual information of a remote site, which is obtained through image processing and position prediction. For the verification of this proposed PPS, the robot was moved to follow the planned path under the various network traffic conditions. The simulation and experimental results showed that the path error of the robot motion could be reduced using the developed PPS.

  • Effects of Kyungohkgo Ga Nokyong(Yongohkgo) on growth development and learning ability were investigated growth and intellectual impairment rat with insufficient nutrition diet. We divided male Sprague-Dawley rats into 4 groups. They were Normal group, Growth deficiency rat with insufficient nutrition diet group, Growth deficiency rat with 0.1% Yongohkgo group and 0.2% Yongohkgo group. They were administered for 5 weeks. We measured body weight, and morris water maze test in escape distance, escape time and escape speed, serum growth hormone, insulin-like growth factor and thyroid stimulating hormone, RBC, concentration of Hb and PCV ratio, total WBC and its composition, the values of GOT and GPT activities. The results are as follows that Yongohkgo 0.1%, 0.2% groups were showed significantly different than control groups in body weight and the counts of RBC. In the morris water maze test, in escape distance and escape time, in concentration of Hb and PCV ratio, 0.2% Yongohkgo group were significantly different than control groups. Serum growth hormone, insulin- like growth factor and thyroid stimulating hormone showed a tendency to increase in Yongohkgo groups. The counts of total WBC and its composition, GOT, GPT activities showed no significantly different in all treatment groups. These results suggested that Yongohkgo have an effect of promoting growth and learning ability of rats and might be effect to treat various kinds of growth and learning ability delay in children.

  • In this paper, we give an estimate on the difference between $x^n(t)$ and x(t) and it clearly shows that one can use the Picard iteration procedure to the approximate solutions to stochastic functional differential equations with infinite delay at phase space BC(($-{\infty}$, 0] : $R^d$) which denotes the family of bounded continuous $R^d$-valued functions ${\varphi}$ defined on ($-{\infty}$, 0] with norm ${\parallel}{\varphi}{\parallel}={\sup}_{-{\infty}<{\theta}{\leq}0}{\mid}{\varphi}({\theta}){\mid}$ under non-Lipschitz condition being considered as a special case and a weakened linear growth condition.

  • The effect of discharge have been investigated for condition of spark in a multiple spark ignition engine, as the spark duration, capacitive and inductive discharge energy were calculated for condition of spark by ignition wave and energy formula. The useful portion of spark discharge is divided into capacitance portion and inductance portion. It was found that capacitive discharge energy and spark duration were increased according to increasing number of spark, and inductive discharge energy was increased according to increasing spark interval. Therefore engine torque was increase and lean misfire limit was extended comparing with the standard ignition system. It found that spark energy was discharged within ignition delay period availability acted on the formation and growth of flame kernel, and total spark energy was increased according to increasing number of spark times, but discharged spark energy after ignition delay became unavailable energy. And the capacitive discharge energy has the dominant effect for stoichiomeric or not very rich air-fuel mixture but inductive discharge energy has the dominant effect for lean air-fuel mixture.

  • Air transport demand is on a sharp rise due to growth in the aviation market. To prepare for this rapidly growing demand for aviation, airport operators are interested in the processing airport capacity. Airport throughput is determined to be the smallest of the facility capacities that make up the airport, but it is customary to determine the cost and time consuming runway capacity as airport capacity. Previous studies have shown that while recent studies have been conducted on airport capacity, there is little research on the criteria for determining capacity. In this study, we would like to determine the extent to which airport capacity is affected by the airport's operating hours and the resulting delays.

  • Insect diapause is a delay in development evolved in response to regulatory recurring periods of adverse environmental condition. Diapause has evolved in most insect species to ensure survival under unfavorable environmental conditions and to syncronize of the growth rate of the population. It is not referable to immediately prevailing adverse environmental condition, and thus differs from a delay produced by currently adverse conditions such as low temperatures. This paper was mainly based on the study of Denlinger.

  • In this paper an attempt is made to understand contribution factors in the field of electronic commerce(EC). To do that, we adopt and modify an existing commerce model. The following two major conclusions are drawn from our simulation. Most of all, the diminution of information delay introduce monotonous growth rather than fluctuation of EC market. The stable increase of revenue or market scale makes us decide the employment or capacity scale quickly. Second, for favorable and continuous evolution of EC, utilization system of electronic money should be established steadily. The following findings strongly support our claim: We found full oscillation of EC market when electronic money system didn't established well. On the contrary, if electronic money system could provide fast cash flow and fully trustful function, decisions of company or consumer would be executed promptly.

  • In almost every construction project, delay is an inevitable yet controllable phenomenon. The Indian construction industry encounters an enormous amount of delays in projects. Delay affects both time and money in the forms of schedule and cost overruns, respectively. Due to impressive and dynamic growth in the Indian construction sector, planned efforts are essential to limit these undesirable delays. On account of the surge in the rate of residential building construction, the task of identification and analysis of the delays in residential projects in India has been attempted by the authors. A questionnaire survey was conducted involving 100 stakeholders. Further analysis included an Importance Index to rank the identified delays, Principle Component Analysis for advanced statistical analysis, and Correlation Analysis to check the extent of agreement amongst stakeholders. Conclusions drawn with reference to the analysed data eventually reflected finance-related issues, as well as labour related problems as the dominating causes of delays. The aim of the research is to provide insight to the construction stakeholders and researchers, on an international scale, with the obtained results.
