Airborne and waterborne ascospores and conidia of Botryosphaeria dothidea were collected in apple orchards at Suwon and Chunan in 1992 through 1994. Both waterborne and airborne spores were first detected in mid April to early May. Thereafter, spores were abundant in early June to late August and present until early December. Rainwater collections contained much more conidia than ascospores during the apple growing seasons. Airborne ascospores catches, which were also detected on humid days without measurable rainfall, were much more than airborne conidia catches. High amounts of ascospores were detected in early times of apple growing season, whereas most conidia catches occurred in later times of the season. The number of waterborne conidia and airborne ascospores was positively correlated with mean daily maximum, minimum, and average air temperatures during the trapping periods (p=0.01). However, no significant correlation was found between the number of spores and the total precipitation during the trapping periods.
A Zoysia japonica and Miscanthus sinensis grasslands of north-west side on Mt. Kwanak were investigated The most important species in this area were Zoysia japonica and Miscanthus sinensis These two species contributed greatly to the standing crops of live material, which were in excess of 598. 4g /$m^2$ and 698. 7g /$m^2$ during the growing season, respectively. This value would he ucreased if the production of the moss and algal mats which cover the soil surface during the growing season was included. The productive structures of the Zoysia japonica and Mliscanthus si nen sis grasslands were short and long height types of the grasslands, respectively. Key words: Standing crop, Production structure.
Seasonal changes of the soil nutrient contents and aboveground biomass, relationship between the soil nutrients and the productivity, and the net efficiencies of solar energy conversion were studied in two reeed communities (Phragmites communis Trin.) at the salt marsh in the estuary of the Sumjin-River from April 30 to October 9, 1981. The inorganic nutrients such as exchangeable sodium and potassium of soil were decreased during growing season. The amounts of organic matter, exchangeable sodium and potassium, total nitrogen, and available phosphorus in stand $\prod$ were much more than those of stand $\coprod$ . Productivity of Phragmites communis was positively correlated with the soil nutrients such as available phosphorus, exchangeable potassium and total nitrogen. The maximum dry matter productions of the aboveground parts in stand $\prod$ stand $\coprod$ were $ 1, 120g/m^2; and; 843g/m^2$ in August, and the net coversion efficiencies of PhAR based on growing season (April to September) were 1.77% and 1.33%, respectively.

Nitrogen (N) management is critical for corn production. On the other hand, N leaching into the groundwater creates serious environmental problems. There is a demand for sensors that can assess the plant N deficiency throughout the growing season to allow producers to reach their production goals, while maintaining environmental quality. This paper reports on the performance of a vision-based reflectance sensor for real-time assessment of N stress level of corn crops. Data were collected representing the changes in crop reflectance in various spectral ranges over several stages of development in the growing season. The performance of this non-contact sensor was validated under various field conditions with reference measurement from a Minolta SPAD meter and stepped nitrogen treatments.

This study is performed to select irrigation design year from 10-year return period 7-month(April to October) precipitation amount and compare reference crop evapotranspiration at 13 regions by REF-ET model. 1. Seven-month growing season average reference crop evapotranspiration values showed low values of 4.1 ∼4.2mm /day by FAO-24 Corrected Penman method, and 3.6 ∼3.7mm/day by FAP-24 Blaney Criddle method in Chinjin and Ulsan, high values of 4.9mm/day by FAO-24 Corrected Penman method , 4.1mm/day by FAO -24 Blaney Criddle method in Mokpo and Pohang. 2. Estimated seven-month growing season average reference crop evapotranspirations are 4.6mm/day by FAO-24 Corrected Penman method, 3.9,mm/day by FAO-24 Balney Criddle method, 4.0mm/day 1985 Hargreaves method, respectively.

The evaluation of the effective rainfall is important in the desgin and operation of irrigation systems. But the difinition of the effective rainfall and the method for the estimating effective rainfall is various for each purpose . In this paper, the effective rainfall was defined as amount of rainfall which is remained in the effective soil depth that can be use to consumptive use of crop during growing season. The sol moisture was measured by Neutron prob for the effective rainfall estimation, and theexperiment was conducted for mulched and non-mulched condition of lysimeter during growing season. By the result of analysis and the former definition, the effective rainfall was estimated to be 37.2% for the mulched lysimeter and 40.7% for the non-mulched lysimeter.
In order to provide basic information for the estimation of evapotranspiration for grass (Joycia Japonica), both field lysimeter experiment and model prediction were performed to estimate daily ET Various methods were used to predict daily reference crop ET and crop coefficients. Measured mean daily ET during the 1997 growing season was 4.5mm Model predicted mean daily ET during the 1997 growing season varied from 3.6 to 4.7mm depending on the prediction model Crop coefficients varied from 0.96 to 1.27 depending on the prediction model Comparison of the seven reference crop ET prediction methods used in this study shows that the Penman-Monteith method gave the smallest ET while the Hargreaves method gave the largest ET. The crop coefficient by the corrected Penman method was 1.03, which is closest to 1.0, suggesting that this method may he the best prediction method.
Correlations between various morphological characteristics of Panax quinquefolium plants grown in Lytton, British Columbia, Canada were assessed for 1-through 4-year old plants. Root dry weight, the dependent variable, was found to be strongly related to leaf dry weight, leaf length and root length for 1-and 2-year old plants during the middle of the growing season. For 1- and 2-year old plants at the end of the growing season, root dry weight was found to be related to leaf dry weight, leaf length and stem dry weight. For 3 and 4-year old plants, root dry weight was found to be related to leaf dry weight, leaf length and stem dry weight. For 3- and 4-year old plants, root dry weight was found to be related to leaf dry weight. For practical considerations, this latter relationship provides a simple method for selecting superior plants from which seed can be harvested.
We studied on the mineral nutrients and productivity of grasslands in Kimhwa. The vascular flora of grasslands in Sakok-ri, Wasoo-ri, and Yukdan-ri located at Kimhwa were composed of 39, 28, and 32 species respectively. The most important species were Arundinella hirta and Miscanthus sinensis These two species contributed greatly to the standing crops of live material which was in excess of $146.47g/m^2$ throughout the growing season. The daily production throughout the growing season was in excess of $1.04 g/m^2$. Factors which affected the daily productivity of grasslands in Kimhwa were phosphours and water content.

Growth and development of a plant over a growing season is closely related to the daily accumulation of heat. Heat unit measured by accumulated growing degree days (GDD) is becoming increasingly popular to estimate the growth of a plant or even in insect. GDD or heat accumulation per day is measured by calculating average daily temperature and then subtracting the base temperature below which growth does not occur. Heat accumulation per day is added for the desired period and accumulated GDD is determined. The present study was conducted in five seasons in an established garden with K-2, S-36 and V-1 mulberry varieties belonging to Morus indica L. grown under completely irrigated condition at the farm of CSRTI, Mysore during 2001 - 2002. Plants were pruned in each season and the growth of the plant measured by total shoot length and fresh leaf yield was recorded at an interval of 5 days starting from 30 days of pruning (DAP) to 70 days when all the plants were pruned. The accumulated GDD for the corresponding days were recorded and used for analysis. Accumulated growing degree days (GDD) have been found to be perfectly correlated with both growth and yield in all the seasons in all the varieties studied. The high $R^2$ values indicated a strong relationship between the accumulated GDD and, growth and yield of mulberry.
