Background: Over the past decade, bladder cancer was associated with a significant increase. Given the importance of the impact of socioeconomic status on the distribution of cancer incidence and mortality, and the need to information on these parameters for prevention planning, the aim of this study was to evaluate data for bladder cancer and their relationship with human development index (HDI) and its components in Asia in 2012. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted based on data from the world data of cancer and the World Bank (including the HDI and its components). The incidence and mortality rates were drawn for Asian countries. To analyze data, correlation tests between incidence and death rates, and HDI and its components were employed with a significance level of 0.05 using SPSS software. Results: A total incidence of 696,231 cases (68.7% in males and 31.3% in females, sex ratio of 2.19:1) and 524,465 deaths (67.0% in men and 32.9% in women, sex ratio was 2.03:1) were recorded in Asian countries in 2012. Correlation between HDI and standardized incidence rate was 0.241 overall (p=0.106), 0.236 in men (p=0.114) and -0.250 in women (p=0.094). Also between HDI and standardized mortality rate 0.025 (p=0.871) in men 0.118 (p=0.903) and in women 0.014 (p=0.927). Conclusions: Bladder cancer incidence is higher in developed countries, but the rate is declining, and in less developed and developing countries it is growing. There was no statistically significant correlation between the standardized incidence rate of bladder cancer and the HDI and its dimensions in Asia, except for the level of education.
For the rapidly growing elderly population, the achievement and maintenance of good nutritional status is critical to health, functioning and quality of life. Elderly women living alone have been identified as a group associated with poor nutrition. The purpose of this study was to assess dietary intakes of elderly women living alone as compared to those of elderly women living with family in a rural area and to examine seasonal variation. The subjects are 49 elderly women living alone and 41 elderly women living with family who reside in Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk, and their food intakes were assessed once each time in summer 2005, winter 2005-2006, and spring 2006. The average ages were 74.7 years for living alone and 72.8 years for living with family. Education level was not different between the two groups. Height, weight, body mass index, systolic and diastolic blood pressures, and fasting blood glucose were not significantly different between the two groups. Average intakes of major nutrients, nutrient adequacy ratio, mean adequacy ratio and index of nutritional quality were lower in the elderly women living alone compared with the elderly women living with family in summer, but the differences in intakes of most nutrients became insignificant both in winter and in spring. High carbohydrate and low fat diet was prevalent and intakes of carbohydrate and fat in summer deviated from macronutrient acceptable distribution ranges. Percentages of the subjects who consumed energy less than 75% of the estimated energy requirement and nutrients less than the estimated average requirement were higher than those reported by the Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. In summer, the percentage of the subjects who consumed energy less than both 75% of the estimated energy requirement and 4 nutrients less than estimated average requirements was 58.5% of the elderly women living alone, which was higher than 26.5% of the elderly women living with family and that of National Nutrition Survey. Therefore, nutrition policies including nutrition education and support are necessary to improve nutritional status of elderly, especially elderly women living alone and should reflect regional and seasonal characteristics.
This study analyzes the seasonality precipitation using precipitation data from 1973 to 2001 over South Korea. The Seasonality Index and Annual variation of the Seasonality Precipitation were investigated from sixty-three observation stations. The Seasonality Precipitation means the degree of the precipitation falling intensively for some specific months. Spatially, precipitation that has a strong characteristic of regional shower is defined as seasonal precipitation. Precipitation forms are changed with various reasons and mainly the sporadic and local shower precipitation after rain spell in summer. Especially there appears a tendency that this kind of precipitation is sharply increasing in 1990's. Seasonality Index is used as a method to understand seasonal precipitation. If the yearly rainfall is concentrated for some specific months, Seasonality Index is growing gradually. It is confirmed that there is a tendency that all the from sixty-two observation stations Seasonality Index. While Seasonality Index over South of Korea concentrated from June to August because of the summer rain spell in the past ($1973{\sim}1982$), there appears to be a tendency that it concentrated from August and September since the mid 1990's. From the analysis of seasonal precipitation intensity distribution, most of southern Korea is under seasonality precipitation intensity 4. The seasonality precipitation intensity classification results are as follow: most of the observation stations were on a scale intensity of 3 and 4 in the past but currently reads seasonality precipitation intensities of 5 and 6.
To examine the natural regeneration in the natural mixed-broadleaved forest, flowering, fruiting, seed-fall, and seed viabilities of Acer pseudosieboldianum (Ap) were investigated in Mt. Jungwang, Gangwon-do, from 2009 to 2015. The flower of Ap consisted many male and bisexual flowers on the corymb. Flowering dates are differed between sex morph in the same inflorescence. Stamens are stop growing and disappeared after pollinated pistil begin to grow in bisexual flowers, and male flowers have vestial pistil. The flowers of Ap might be pollinated by Apis mellifera, Andrenidae spp. and Syrphinae spp. Ap had some mechanism to prevent from self pollination with heterodichogamy. Mean annual seedfall of Ap was 70,780 ea/ha (ranged 310~234,840 ea/ha). Annual seedfall of Ap varied severely, and the maximum was about 760 times the minimum. Annual seed production of Ap might be to a normal distribution. Rates of damaged or decayed seeds are highest 59.3%, and those of sound seeds are 23.9%, Those of undeveloped and empty seeds are 9.2% and 7.6%, respectively. The most important factors influencing sound seed production might be the density and activities of insect pollinators and sucking pest in the flowerwing period, middle-late May. Successful regeneration of Ap might be in masting year and on the gap sites with proper conditions to germinate and grow. To understand the natural regeneration of deciduous hardwoods, further study on the characteristics of flowering and fruiting, pre- and post-dispersal seed predation, and annual variation on these factor should be needed.

Since the establishment of the Groundwater Act in Korea in 1993, the national policy on groundwater has focused on the preservation and management of groundwater, which should be used only as a subsidiary water resource. However, population growth, increased water demand, climate change, and the need for uniform water distribution have brought changes to groundwater policy, and have led to the prioritization of development projects such as groundwater dams and river bank filtration. Population growth, changes to the water environment, and increased water risks have all played a role in triggering rapid growth within the water industry; the size of the investment in water resources will also continue to increase worldwide. Until now, private wells and bottled mineral water have led the groundwater industry in South Korea. However, a new area of the groundwater industry, which includes the health and medical sciences, employs groundwater properties derived from regional geology, and is growing. This requires the advancement of groundwater research and technical development connected with ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and medical science, and that the public development of groundwater and its various applications is expanded through locating groundwater in the core of the water industry cluster.

Citrus vein enation virus (CVEV), which was regulated as a quarantine virus in Korea, was firstly found on Jeju Island in 2017. In February 2018, a survey was carried out to determine the distribution of CVEV in the main commercial areas growing Citrus spp. and Poncirus trifoliata. The survey was performed at 203 groves in the southern Korean Peninsula and Jeju Island. CVEV infection was determined by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction detection and sequencing. The coat protein (CP) gene sequences obtained from the CVEV-infected samples showed high similarities (more than 98%) to the previously reported CVEV CP sequences. In summary, CVEV was detected in 136 groves (67%), in which 85.4% of Citrus junos and 77.8% of Citrus unshiu were infected by CVEV. In Jeju Island, the infection rate of CVEV was relatively higher (90.6%). Our result revealed that CVEV has spread widely in Citrus and Poncirus in Korea. Based on the result, the Korean quarantine agency decide to exclude CVEV from quarantine in Korea.
Seungbong Island is situated about 100km away Inchon Port in the western sea of the Korean Peninsula. Field investigations were conducted for two days each from June 30 through July 1, 1981 and from August 20 through 21, 1981. The results obtained are summarized as follows: Plants growing in this island consist of a total of 193 species (70 families, 151 genera, 170 species, 22 varieties and 1 forma). Pinus thunbergii was confirmed to be the dominant species. The natural degree observed in this island was high, as a whole. The coefficient of ferny plants (Pte-Q) is 0.95, lower than grass. Atractylodes japonica Koidz., Miscanthus sinensis Anders. var. purpurascense Rendle, and Rhododendron mucronulatum Turz. are distributed mainly on the forest bed of Pinus thunbergii. The poor distribution of Chenopodium album var. centrorubrum Makino, Setaria viridis (L.) Beauv., Amaranthus mangostanus Linne is considered attributable to the phenomenon of allellopathy caused by a chemical substance secreted from the leaves of Pinus thunbergii. The component ratio of species in this island is lower than that of other islands due probably to the small area of arable land and grassland. The poor growth of plants in the forest of Pinus thunbergii, the dominant species in this island, seems to be attributed to the low relative light intensity of the forest. Seaside plants consisting of a total of 7 species were distributed mainly in the vicinity of sandy beaches. Naturalized plants comprising a total of 11 species were relatively diversified in the number of species.
Collecting international terrorism database is a challenging task not only for criminal justice personnel but also for criminologists in comparison to the case of common types of crime database. Yet, there has been growing interests and efforts in establishing a comprehensive terrorist events data base in the world. This current study has a goal to introduce an example world terrorism database case developed by START center in the United States. The START center developed the Global Terrorism Database (GTD) on the basis of by the Pinkerton Global Intelligence Service data (PGIS) originally collected by the Pinkerton. Furthermore, The START expended the GTD by collecting data from open source terrorist event data via internet and other resources. In this study, specifically, it describes the development and the nature of the GTD in general and the data collection efforts made by the STATA until today. Finally, this study provides a sketchy of the nature of the GTD data by showing the descriptive statistical analyses and time-series analyses result illustrating distribution of the world terrorism events. The limitation, policy implications and contribution of this study discussed in this paper.
Nitrate nitrogen was absorbed dominantly among the inorganic nitrogen nutrients by tobacco plant. Transport and reduction of $NO_3-N$ in plant tissue were the important metabolism for supplying synthetic N compounds to developing tissues during growth period. Under field and environment-controlled condition tobacco plants were grown and seperated to leaf tissues at stalk positions for investigation of nitrogen transport and assimilation ability during period of rapid vegative growth. The results of studies were summarized as follows: 1. $NO_3-N$ absorbed from roots was transported as inorganic nitrogen through the vascular tissue of leaf veins as resulting from the high $NO_3-N$ ratio of the nitrogen content in leaf veins, but these ratios in mesophyll tissue of the same leaf laminae decreased remarkably in disregard of higher accumulation of nitrogen being compared to midvien. 2. Mesophyll tissue of mature leaves appeared higher value of nitrate reductase activity (NRA) comparing with other tissues, stem, leaf vien, and meristmatic tissue at emergence point with young leaves. 3. Matured leaves at lower position being reducing nitrate nitrogen vigorously observed thick laminae and kept high amount of water in them. 4. Mature leaves of young plant reduced $NO_3-N$ vigorously for supply synthetic N compounds to meristmatic tissues at growing point by the reason of narrow and few leaves at young stage, but in advancing growth period NRA of mature leaves along upper position reached to lower value. This appearence attributed to distribution of organic-N compound demanding for growth to increasing numbers of wide leaves.

Integrated modelling of surface water and groundwater has become important to satisfy the growing demands for sustainable water resources and improved water quality. In this study, the integrated model of the semi-distributed watershed model, SWA T and the fully-distributed groundwater flow model, MODFLOW is applied to Musirn river basin for the purpose of investigating its applicability to reproduce watershed-scale hydrological processes. This objective is accomplished by first demonstrating good agreement between the simulated discharge hydrographs with the measured hydrographs for the period of 2001 -2004 while simultaneously calibrating the calculated groundwater level distribution to observation wells. Next, the integrated model is used to evaluate the effect of different temporal precipitation averages on hydrodynamic processes of streamflow, percolation, recharge and groundwater discharge. Moreover, comprehensive simulations are performed to present the relationships between monthly precipitation and each hydrological component, and to analyze the temporal-spatial variability of recharge. The results show that the components are highly interrelated, and that the heterogeneity of watershed characteristics such as subbasin slope, land use, soil type causes a significant spatial variation of recharge. Overall it is concluded that the model is capable of reproducing the temporally and spatially varied surface and subsurface hydrological processes at the watershed scale.
