  • One field identified by an inverse method is one of multiple candidate solutions those are independently obtained through a specific estimation technique. While averaging of optimized fields can provide a better description of the spatial feature of an unknown field, it deteriorates the flow and transport characteristics of the optimized fields. As a result, the averaged field is not suited for modeling aquifer performances. Based on genetic algorithm, an optimal field synthesis technique is developed, which combines diversely optimized fields into a refined group of fields. Each field in the population is paired, and a sub-region of each field is exchanged by crossover operation to create a group of synthesized fields of enhanced modeling capability. The population of the fields is evolved till the synthesized fields become sufficiently similar. Applications of the optimal field synthesis to synthetic cases indicate that the objective functions of the fields assessing the modeling capabilities are further reduced after the optimal field synthesis. The identified fields from various inverse techniques may yield a range of modeling results under varied flow situations. The uncertainty is narrowed down through the optimal field synthesis and the associated modeling results converge on that of the reference field. The developed inverse modeling facilitates the construction of a reliable simulation model and hence trustworthy predictions of the future performances.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the correlation between bone mineral density(BMD), age, weight, visual analog scale(VAS), menopausal rating scale(MRS), and to compare the difference between BMD, age, weight, VAS, MRS according to severity of the menopausal symptoms. Methods : The participants were 62 menopausal women diagnosed with osteoporosis who visited Cheonan Oriental Hospital, Daejeon University from December, 2011 to July, 2014. Age, weight, VAS, MRS were used as an evaluation tool. Results : 1. In all 62 cases of menopausal patients diagnosed with osteoporosis, the study found a statistically significant correlation between BMD and weight, while inverse correlation between BMD and MRS index. 2. Among menopausal patients with above 9 MRS index(group B), BMD and weight showed statistically significant correlation, while VAS and MRS index showed statistically significant inverse correlation. 3. Among group B, VAS were higher compared to control group(group A). Conclusions : This study showed that as patients with severer menopausal symptoms apt to show increased VAS and decreased BMD. Therefore, long-term follow-up in patients with menopausal syndrome is needed to improve the patients' quality of life.

  • In this paper, we develop the noninformative priors when the parameter of interest is the common coefficient of variation in two inverse Gaussian distributions. We want to develop the first and second order probability matching priors. But we prove that the second order probability matching prior does not exist. It turns out that the one-at-a-time and two group reference priors satisfy the first order matching criterion but Jeffreys' prior does not. The Bayesian credible intervals based on the one-at-a-time reference prior meet the frequentist target coverage probabilities much better than that of Jeffreys' prior. Some simulations are given.

  • In this article, an alternating Fibonacci sequence is defined from a second-order linear homogeneous recurrence relation with constant coefficients. Then, the determinant, inverse, and eigenvalues of the circulant matrices with entries in the first row having the formation of the sequence are formulated explicitly in a simple way. In this study, the method for deriving the formulation of the determinant and inverse is simply using traditional elementary row or column operations. For the eigenvalues, the known formulation from the case of general circulant matrices is simplified by considering the specialty of the sequence and using cyclic group properties. We also propose algorithms for the formulation to show how efficient the computations are.

  • This paper considers Group Testing as one of combinatorial problems. The group testing first began to inspect soldier's syphilis infection during World War II and have long established an academic basis. Recently, there has been much interest in related areas because of the rediscovery of the value of the group testing. The group testing is the same as finding a few defect samples out of a large number of samples, which is similar to the inverse problem of Compressed Sensing. In this paper, we introduce the definition of the group testing, and specify the classes of the group testing and the bounds on performance of the group testing. In addition, we show a lower bound for the number of tests required to find defective samples using the theoretical theorem which is mainly used for relationship between conditional entropy and the probability of error in the information theory. We see how our result can be different from other related results.

  • The purpose of this study is to help the care of patient and to his family through comparison of the level of anxiety which between the family of admitted patient and the family without in patient, and to his family through comparison of the level of anxiety which between the family of admitted patient and the family without inpatient and exclude the factors which raised the level of anxiety in them. The experimental group in this study were samples of 200 patient's family selected by random sampling in H. University hospital located in Seoul (Department of patient were internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics and neuropsychiatry). The control group were samples of 70 family without inpatient selected by random sampling in Seoul. The data were collected through STAI (State-Trait Anxiety Inventory) by Spielberger (1970) for measurement to level of state and trait anxiety from April 1st to April 15th in 1982. The contents of data analysis by EDPS included the difference of level of anxiety between experimental and control group, correlationship between general characteristics of experimental group and level of anxiety, and correlation of trait and state anxiety in experimental group. The Findings of this study were as follows: 1) Level of anxiety of experimental group is higher than control group. 2) In the correlation between general characteristics and level of anxiety of experimental group, there were no significant difference which revealed in correlation with age of family member, family life cycle, marital status, the relation between patient and family member, the degree of symptom, number of admission, admission or nonadmission of medical insurance, number of family member, and division of disease to level of anxiety However, according to the sex of family member, hospitalization period, a monthly income of family, the degree of confidence toward medical team, religion of family, academic background of family, a tendency of significant differences to level of anxiety were seen. To put them in the concrete, they were as follow; a) Level of. anxiety on female family member is higher than male in experimental group. b) Admission period of patient is positively related to the level of anxiety of patient's family. c) The degree of confidence of patient's family toward medical team is in inverse proportion to the level of anxiety. d) A monthly income of patient's family is in inverse proportion to the level of anxiety. e) Levlt of anxiety of believer in patient's family is lower than unbeliever. f) The academical background of patient's family is in inverse proportion to the level of anxiety g) Level of state anxiety of patient's family at the time of admission is positively related to the level of trait anxiety.

  • This study was designed to evaluate the effect of processing method and surface design on the transverse strength of repaired denture base resin. Three heat-cured denture base resins(Vertex, Lucitone, Lang), one cold-cured resin(Lang), and one light-cured resin(Dentacolor gingiva material) were used for repair purpose. The specimens for 3-point flexure test were fabricated by five processing methods such as self-curing, pressure pot, boiling water, processing, and light curing. Finally to evaluate the effect of surface designs for repaired resin, three surface designs(butt, bevel, inverse bevel) were tested. Within the limit of this study, following conclusions were drawn. 1. Lucitone denture base material showed highest flexural strength of $131.37{\pm}2.15MPa$, and there were significant differences in stength between Lucitone and other resins. 2. Between two different self curing methods, self curing repair resin, Lang, cured by pressure pot method showed highest flexural strength, $58.49{\pm}4.89MPa$. 3. Among the heat cured repair resins, maximum transverse strength value of $88.69{\pm}16.60MPa$ was recorded in Lucitone group cured by processing method. 4. Inverse bevel joint design showed significantly higher bond strength than butt joint group, Maximum bond strength was $59.36{\pm}1.33MPa$ in inverse bevel joint design group.

  • In this paper, we extend the Gottlieb groups of a space to the Gottlieb groups of a map and show some properties of those groups. Especially, We show the 2nd Gottlieb group of a map is contained in the center of the homotopy group of the map and show $G_n(F) = \pi_n(f)$ for an H-map f between H-spaces. We also show the Gottlieb subgroups $G_n(A), G_n(X) and G_n(f)$ make a sequence if the map $f : A \to X$ has a right homotopy inverse.

  • The paper by Paik (1985) introduced a structural property of the designs which was related to the concordance matrix $NN^{t}$ of the design. This special property was termed Property-C. The designs which have Property-C need not calculation of the generalize inverse of C matrix for solution of reduced normal equation. Paik also mentioned that some block designs belong to Property-C. This paper show the Extended Group Divisible designs defined by Hinkelmann (1964) are included in Property-C.
