Both groups received pre-and post-test evaluation but experimental group additionally received a follow-up test. The data were analyzed by t-test, Mann-Whitney U Test, Wilcoxon Matched-Pairs Signed-Ranks Test and qualitative analysis. The results showed that therapy Program enhanced the life wellbeing of both child and mother participants significantly, and this effect lasted for at least for three months after the termination of the program. Second, though the effects were not statistically significant, child and mother participants' attitude towards divorce, self-esteem, and communication skills between mother and child changed positively after the program and these effects lasted for over three months.

Methods: This research was conducted as a quasi-experimental pretest and posttest control and experimental group methodological comparison study. The subjects were 25 high school students (Exp=12, Cont=13) in U City. The depression and suicide prevention program in this study was based on the Ellis' ABC Model. The experimental group participated in the program through eight sessions, but the control group did not receive treatment. Data were collected from November 4 to November 28, 2008, and analyzed using the SPSS/WIN program by frequency, Mann-Whitney, means, standard deviation and Wilcoxon signed rank test. Results: There was statistically significant difference in depression (z=-2.983, p=.003) between the two groups. Suicidal ideation also decreased significantly(z=-2.847, p=.004) in the experimental group. Conclusions: After the eight sessions of the group counseling program for preventing depression and suicidal ideation, it was found that the program was effective to lower the score of depression and suicidal ideation. The results of this study suggest that a school-based prevention program for adolescents should be developed according to depression and suicidal ideation level.

This modified group program is based on cognitive-behavioral and communication theories. The group was leaded by 2 therapists, one female and one male, and continued 12 consecutive weeks, each week for 2 1/2 hours. The evaluation on the program is based on 4 different data: 1) intake form for spouse abuse, 2) group leader's summary on each session based on video taping and an analysis after each session with two probation officers in charge for the offenders, 3) clinical measurement for self esteem (ISE), 4) daily self report on each session and the final evaluation form by the group members. The result was shown consisently that this program achieved the purpose of this study across the all 4 data. Therefore, we suggest our experimental study will be able to provide a practical basement for future development of group treatment model for Korean offenders.

The experimental group had regular lectures and the multimedia learning program for DM diet education using standardized patients while the control group had regular lectures only. The DM educational skills were measured by trained research assistants. Results: The students who received the multimedia learning program scored higher for DM diet educational skills, communication skills and DM diet knowledge compared to the control group. Learning satisfaction of the experimental group was higher than the control group, but statistically insignificant. Conclusion: Clinical competency was improved for students receiving the multimedia learning program for DM diet education using standardized patients, but there was no statistically significant effect on learning satisfaction. In the nursing education system there is a need to develop and apply more multimedia materials for education and to use standardized patients effectively.

  • Purpose: This study investigates the influence of education satisfaction, communication competence, and group cohesion on organizational socialization in nursing students. Method: The subjects were 175 third year nursing students. Data were collected from June 3 to 14, 2013 through a self-reporting questionnaire. Data analysis was performed by multiple regression using the SPSSWIN 21.0 program. Results: The organizational socialization score of nursing students averaged 3.79 points (5 Likert scale). Practice education satisfaction, communication competence and group cohesion of nursing students influenced organizational socialization ($R^2$ 52.5%, F=49.051, p<.001). Conclusion: For nursing students, practice education satisfaction, communication competence and group cohesion are significant variables for organizational socialization. Thus, in order to enhance the organizational socialization of nursing students, there is a need to develop a differentiated practicum curriculum that considers nursing student demands in collaboration with nursing faculty and administrators on the basis of education programs, including concepts of communication competence and group cohesion.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of Problem-based Learning (PBL) in an interdisciplinary college class. This class was run under the theme of 'Nurse Social Content Creators' (NSCC) in the Korean Nurses Association (KNA)'s industry-university collaborative project designed to promote a positive image of nurses among the public. Methods: Study 1 examined changes in perception about nurses among the PBL participants before and after the program. A one-group pre-post test experimental design was applied, and the data were analyzed using a Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Study 2 identified differences of perceptions of nurses between people who had observed the PBL final presentation and people who had not. A post-test-only with nonequivalent group experimental design was used, and the data were analyzed using a Mann-Whitney U test. Results: Study 1 revealed a significant increase of positive perceptions towards nurses. Study 2 revealed a significant difference between the PBL presentation audience group and the control group. Students who had observed the PBL program showed more positive perceptions of nurses than students who had not. Conclusion: This research is an important study with high practicality in the area of media studies as well as in nursing. The PBL teaching method was proven to be effective in enhancing perceptions of nurses.
