The records of field instrumentation, which have been performed on the pneumatic caisson used for substructure of the Youngjong Grand Bridge, were analyzed to investigate the ground contact pressure under rigid foundation of large pneumatic caisson embedded in various ground layers. During sinking the pneumatic caisson, the resisting force was mobilized against sinking the caisson at the contact area between bottom of the caisson and the ground. The resisting force could be measured by the reaction force gauges instrumented under the edge of bottom of the pneumatic caisson. And the ground contact pressure could be estimated by use of the measuring records of the resisting force. The ground contact pressure under rigid foundation of large pneumatic caisson shows concave distribution on bedrock, while convex distribution was shown in marine deposit soil layer as well as weathered rock layer. And, the ground contact pressure in various ground layers was distributed axis-symmetrically. The distribution shape of the ground contact pressure determined by the maximum pressure acting on foundation of the large pneumatic caisson showed good coincidence with the distribution shape proposed for rigid foundation by Kgler(1936) and Fang(1991).

The off-road tractive performance of tracked vehicles can be evaluated in terms of soil thrust, motion resistance and drawbar pull. The ability to predict accurately ground pressure distribution under track is of importance since the vehicle sinkage and motion resistance are closely related to it. While the formulation of the method for predicting ground pressure distribution follows closely in spirit the ideas outlined for the terrain with linear pressure- sinkage relation case by Garber and Wong, the analysis of various terrain stiffness is magnified by numerical implementation procedure. The effects of soil parameters on tractive forces can be introduced through the terrain-track interaction such as pressure-sinkage and shearing characteristics. It is illustrated by determining the drawber pull-slip relation and corresponding ground pressure distribution for the terrains typically chosen and by comparing the results with the conventional ones based on normal ground pressure. The factorial experiment method is finally adopted for checking the sensitivity of the values of soil parameters on the drawbar pull.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the foot-pressure distribution of trekking boots for assessing their functionality. Subjects participated in this study included 10 university male students who had no injury experience in lower limbs and a normal gait pattern. The size of all subjects was 270mm. Five models of trekking boots, most popular in Korea (A, B, C, D & E company), were selected for the test. Using the PEDAR-X system and PEDAR-X insoles, 5 different walking stages were analyzed for the foot-pressure distribution: (a) straight gait; (b) $45^{\circ}$ turn gait; (c) $25^{\circ}$ uphill gait; and (d) $25^{\circ}$ downhill gait. Results of the foot-pressure distribution and functionality on each stage were as follow; 1. Straight gait - In case of Max ground reaction force, mean plantar pressure and Max plantar pressure, there was not a distinct tendency; however, products manufactured by E and A company showed relatively lower pressure distribution. 2. $45^{\circ}$ turn gait - In Max ground reaction force, mean plantar pressure and Max plantar pressure, there wasn't a distinct tendency; however, products manufactured by E and A company showed relatively lower pressure distribution. Results also revealed that the products manufactured by E and A company were superior to those by other companies in terms of functionality. 3. $25^{\circ}$ uphill gait - In Max ground reaction force, mean plantar pressure and Max plantar pressure, there wasn't a distinct tendency; however, products manufactured by E and C company showed relatively lower pressure distribution. Results also revealed that the products manufactured by E and C company were superior to those by other companies in terms of functionality. 4. $25^{\circ}$ downhill gait - In Max ground reaction force, Mean plantar pressure and Max plantar pressure, there wasn't a distinct tendency; however, products manufactured by E company showed relatively lower pressure distribution. Results also revealed that the products manufactured by E company were superior to those by other companies in terms of functionality. Overall, five pairs of trekking shoes selected in this study showed the excellent performance in several conditions. The findings above may provide us with the important criteria for choosing trekking boots.
Based on limit equilibrium principles, this study presents a theoretical derivation of a new analytical formulation for estimating magnitude and lateral earth pressure distribution on a retaining wall subjected to seismic loads. The proposed solution accounts for failure wedge inclination, unit weight and friction angle of backfill soil, wall roughness, and horizontal and vertical seismic ground accelerations. The current analysis predicts a nonlinear lateral earth pressure variation along the wall with and without seismic loads. A parametric study is conducted to examine the influence of various parameters on lateral earth pressure distribution. Findings reveal that lateral earth pressure increases with the increase of horizontal ground acceleration while it decreases with the increase of vertical ground acceleration. Compared to classical theory, the position of resultant lateral earth force is located at a higher distance from wall base which in turn has a direct impact on wall stability and economy. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the computations of lateral earth pressure distribution based on the suggested analytical method.

This paper presents is a study on the pressure distribution families low in response to ground conditions. Indoor shoes, outdoor shoes, working shoes, are four categories of shoes sports shoes, has been used in the present study, Concrete to target men in their 20s of 45people wearing the 260mm(Euro Code EU40), the experiments were carried out in the sand ground. Measurement of stress and pressure at the time of walking, Techstorm company Insole System the measured toe of the foot using, foot binding, was the metatarsal, the low pressure come from Fujoku four areas measured. Depending on the shoes and ground conditions findings, the results of this study represents the distribution of other stress and pressure, is expected to be useful in the development of a wearable shoe sand soil.
This paper performed consolidation tests on soft ground with and without artesian pressure conditions to find out characteristics of leaching effects using two types of one-dimensional column equipment(height : 1,100mm, outer diameter : 250mm). Artesian pressure of 5.5kPa was applied to the bottom of soft ground inside column equipment. Distribution of salinity and shear strength with soil depth were measured after the consolidation test. From the results, it was found that distribution of undrained shear strength and salt concentrations were similar at the top of clay ground irrespective of artesian pressure condition. However, at the bottom of clay ground, the values of undrained shear strength and salt concentration under artesian pressure were lower than those without artesian pressure. This result indicates that structure of soft soil with artesian pressure was weakened by salt leaching. Electronic resistance results showed that void ratio under artesian pressure condition was more reduced than that without artesian pressure condition.
Preliminary design of a ground plate, a device installed close to the aircraft model for wind tunnel test to simulate the ground effect, was performed by a numerical simulation. A two-dimensional numerical study was performed initially to decide the optimal leading edge and flap configurations. Then, three-dimensional studies were conducted to decide the optimal flap deflection angle for pressure distribution reduction since the plate and the plate supporting system generate static pressure difference between the upper and lower flow regions. Three-dimensional simulation additionally studied the effect of the clearance between the plate and the wind tunnel side wall. For the efficiency of computation, half model was simulated and a symmetric boundary condition was applied on the center plane. Based on the preliminary design, a ground plate was designed, manufactured and tested at the Korea Aerospace Research Institute(KARI) wind tunnel. The measured pressure differences versus flap deflection angle agreed well with the predicted results.
To study the influences of tunneling on the earth pressure and ground settlement when the tunnel passes through the adjacent underground retaining structure, 30 two-dimensional model tests were carried out taking into account the ratios of tunnel excavation depth (H) to lateral width (w), excavation width (B), and excavation distance using a custom-made test device and an analogical soil. Tunnel crossing adjacent existing retaining structure (TCE) and tunnel crossing adjacent newly-built retaining structure (TCN) were simulated and the earth pressure variations and ground settlement distribution during excavation were analyzed. For TCE condition, the earth pressure increments, maximum ground settlement and the curvature of the ground settlement curve are negatively related to H/B, but positively related to H/s and H/w. For TCN condition, most trends are consistent with TCE except that the earth pressure increments and the curvature of ground settlement curve are negatively related to H/w. The maximum ground settlement is larger than that observed in tunnel crossing the existing underground structure. This study provides an assessment basis for the design and construction under confined space conditions.

This paper presents a study of geotechnical treatment for artesian pressure after extensive investigation was performed on the distribution and characteristics of artesian condition which exists at Yangsan/Mulgeurn site. The result of analysis indicates that the artesian pressure seems to be up to 2.9M above the existing ground surface, originating from the higher ground water recharging sources in the surrounding hills and mountains. There is no harmful effect after the site development since the height of embankment is more than 4M above the existing ground surface.
