유한요소법을 이용한 칩유동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Chip Flow Using Finite Element Method)

  • In this work, an effort is made to investigate the behavior of a chip, from its initial flow to its final breaking stage. The expression for chip flow in grooved tools is verified analytically using FEM. Cutting parameters like velocity and depth of cut have a profound influence on chip flow behavior. Chip curling increases and, for a given tool geometry, effectiveness of the groove increases with increasing depth of cut. The feasibility of tool design using FEM simulations is also demonstrated. Optimization of tool geometry results in better chip control.

저순도 알루미나 예비소결체의 절삭유제에 따른 세라믹, CBN, 다이아몬드공구의 가공 특성 평가 (Evaluation of Wet Machining Characteristics of the Presintered Low Purity Alumina with the Ceramic, CBN and Diamond Tools)

  • In this study, presintered and full sintered low purity alumina ceramics were machined with various tools to clarify the effect of cutting fluid in machinability. The main conclusions obtained were as follows. When the presintered ceramics were wet machined with sintered diamond tool, the tool wear becomes extremely large, and higher cutting speed can be used than in the case of full sintered ceramics. The productivity of wet cutting with the sintered diamond tool is much higher than that of dry cutting. In the case of the CBN and ceramic tools, the tool wear were smaller at wet cutting than at dry cutting, especially exhibiting considerably larger grooved tool wear in wet cutting with ceramic tool.

  • In this study, turbulent flows in a grooved channel are numerically investigated by Large Eddy Simulation (LES). Especially, a parametric study is carried out to study effects of length and depth of a groove on large-scale flow structures. For one test case, comparison of LES results with those of DNS reveals a good agreement even though the number of grid points of LES is only 6.5% of that of DNS. This confirms that LES is a suitable tool for a parametric study of turbulent flows. The subsequent parametric study using LES shows that the large-scale turbulent structures are significantly affected by the geometry of the groove. Especially, when the length of the groove is short such that the recirculation region occupies the entire groove, the turbulent flow in the groove becomes very weak in both mean and fluctuation quantities.

Larval Development of the Grooved Tanner Crab, Chionoecetes tanneri Rathbun, 1893 (Decapoda: Brachyura: Majidae) Described from the Laboratoryreared Specimens

  • This paper documents the defining morphological characteristics of the larval stages of Chionoecetes tanneri Rathbun, 1893, the grooved Tanner crab, from specimens reared in the laboratory. Chionoecetes tanneri larval stages include two zoeae and one megalopa. The first zoea is characterized by: six setae on the posterior margin of the carapace; postero-lateral spines on abdominal somites 3 and 4, extending beyond the posterior margin of adjacent somites and bearing 9-10 spinnules; 12 plumose setae and one stout distal plumose seta present on the margin of the scaphognathite of the maxilla; and one fused lateral spine and one articulated dorso-medial spine on each fork of the telson. The second zoea is characterized by: 9 setae on the postero-lateral margin of the carapace; a serrated mandible molar; a mandibular palp bud; 25-26 plumose setae on the margin of the scaphognathite of the maxilla; pereiopods with well-developed gills and buds; and four pairs of stout setae on the posterior margin of the telson. For the megalopal stage, the distinguishing characteristics include: a rostral spine equal in length to the supraorbital spine; six setae on the exopod of the uropod; and a single spine on the ischium of the second pereiopod. This study allows C. tanneri larvae to be distinguished from the larvae of known sympatric congeners. This information provides a basic taxonomic tool for researchers in fisheries management and zooplankton ecology who are addressing issues related to trophic interactions, metapopulation dynamics and ecosystem impacts in the evolving marine resource management strategies in the North Pacific, and those related to Chionoecetes species in particular.

2 세대 자기연마를 이용한 미세 그루브형상 표면가공에 관한 연구 (A Study on Polishing of Grooved Surface by the Second-Generation Magnetic Abrasive Polishing)

  • 자기연마공정은 유동성이 높은 연마입자를 활용하기 때문에 곡면 및 그루브 형상에도 적용이 가능한 장점을 지니고 있다. 본 연구에서는 제 2세대 자기연마법을 활용하여 그루브 형상에 대한 자기연마가공 특성을 평가하여, 이를 향후 연료전지 채널과 같은 3차원 형상의 자기연마에 활용하고자 한다. 실험은 최대 1.5mm 깊이의 그루브에 대해 자기연마가공 후 슬롯부 및 랜드부의 표면거칠기 변화를 관찰하였다. 그 결과 랜드부의 길이가 증가하고 그루브의 깊이가 깊어질수록 랜드부의 표면거칠기 향상정도는 높아졌다. 또한 슬롯부의 표면거칠기 향상정도는 랜드부와 슬롯부의 길이비가 증가하고 그루브의 깊이가 깊어질수록 감소하는 경향을 나타내었다. 마지막으로 자기연마가공을 통해서 그루브의 형상에는 큰 변화없이, 그루브의 모서리에 생성된 버를 효과적으로 제거할 수 있었다.

세이핑에 의한 렌티큘러 렌즈 금형 가공에 관한 연구 (A Study on Lenticular Lens Mold Fabrication by Shaping)

  • Recently, micro machining technology for high precision mold becomes more interested for mass production of high performance optical parts micro-grooved on the surface, which is under very active development due to its effectiveness in the view point of optical performance. Mechanical micro machining technology now has more competitiveness on lithography, MEMS or LIGA processes which have some problems to fabricate especially cylinder type of groove in such as lenticular lens for illumination angle modulation system. In this study. a lenticular lens mold with U-type micro groove is fabricated making utilizing of the benefit of the mechanical micro machining technology. A shaping machining process is adapted using 3 axis degree of freedom micro machining system and single crystal natural diamond tool. A brass and a electroless nickel materials are used for mold fabrication. Machining force, chip shape and machined surface are investigated from the experiment and an optimal machining condition is found based on the examined problems from the micro cutting process.

The Study on Relationship between Mobile Phone Text Usage and Hand Dexterity

  • The purpose of this study was to reveal how the agility of fingers directly involved in the use of mobile phones, a necessity for modern people, is related to the amount of text usage. To find out, 95 people who agreed to the purpose of this research without any limitation on visual and upper-geometry were selected. The research period was from June 27, 2018 to July 31, 2018. The evaluation tool used in this study was Grooved Pegboard, a standardized evaluation tool that measures hand dexterity, and the general characteristics of examinees such as age, text message amount, and a hand that using for text messages were investigated through interviews. Since text input methods vary depending on mobile phone types, unfamiliar methods of typing mobile phone characters can affect the speed of texting. As a result, there were significant differences in hand dexterity between age and gender. The rate of texting and hand dexterity were statistically significantly faster than those in their 20s and 30s (p<0.05), and in gender, women showed significantly faster texting and hand dexterity than men (p<0.05). However, it was not statistically significant to text usage and to the dexterity of the hand.

신경망기법에 의한 칩브레이커의 성능평가 (Performance Evaluation of Chip Breaker Utilizing Neural Network)

  • The continuous chip in turning operation deteriorates precision of workpiece and causes a hazardous condition to operator. Thus the chip form control becomes a very important task for reliable machining process. So, grooved chip breaker is widely used to obtain reliable discontinuous chip. However, developing new cutting insert having chip breaker takes long time and needs lots of research expense due to a couple of processes such as forming, sintering, grinding and coating of product and many different evaluation tests. In this paper, performance of commercial chip breaker is evaluated with neural network which is learned with a back propagation algorithm. For the evaluation, several important elements(depth of cut, land, breadth, radius) which directly influence the chip formation were chosen among commercial chip breakers and were used as input values of neural network. With the results of these input values, the performance evaluation method was developed and applied that method to the commercial tools.

  • This study deals with the cold forging process design for shaft in the main part of automobile motors with rectangular deep groove. In forging process, the accuracy and die lift is very important because it have influence on reduction of the production cost and the increase of the production rate. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the manufacturing process of shaft by cold forging., process variables are the cropped face angle of billet and the eccentric load of punch. The former is derived from cropping test, the latter is occurred by clearance between container and preform. Also, grooved preform select the process variable for decrease in punch deflection. We investigate that a deflection of punch and a deformation of preform to every process variables. Through this investigation, we suggest the optimal preform and process design, expect to be improved the tool life in forging process.
