선삭가공에서의 테이퍼 홈 절삭특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Cutting Characteristic of Tapered Groove in Turning)

  • In recently, it is demanded development of manufacturing techniques for machining of various mechanical parts. Therefore the development of turning is one of the important manufacturing techniques. In this study, an experimental shape in tapered groove turning was suggested, and the turning process was investigated by analyzing cutting speed, feed rate, tapered angle, depth of cut. The surface roughness and cutting force change in the workpiece was measured. From the results, the optimum machining conditions are obtained by design of experiments.

STS 304 선삭시의 공구마멸 특성 (Tool-Wear Characteristics in Turning of STS 304)

  • The effect of tool geometry on the tool wear in turning the austenitic stainless steel, STS 304 was investigated. The wear of TiN-TiCN-TiC-TiAlN coated tungsten carbide tool was the smallest, showing larger wear in the order of Si-Al-O-N ceramic, TiN coated tungsten carbide, TiN- TiCN- TiN coated tungsten carbide, TiC-TiN cermet and M20 tungsten carbide tools at the same cutting conditions. The S-type tool of M20 with the larger side cutting edge angle showed the smallest tool wear in all tests due to preventing the groove wear of the side cutting edge. The wear of the S-type tool with the rake angle of $15^{\circ}$ became smaller than with that of $-5^{\circ}$, but the tool with the nose radius of 0.8mm did not perform much better with increasing the rake angle.

  • In this paper, we propose a new shape compensation scheme to make up for the difference in groove radius between the formed tools and the machined bearing raceways, which inherently takes place during machining the ball bearing raceways by the turning process using conventional formed tools. The associated conventional methods of the formed tool design and its modification such as a simple depth compensation method and a graphical compensation method are introduced and the latter, which has been known to be the better of the two, is experimentally investigated in detail to reveal its drawback. The algorithm is given and it is applied to develop a formed tool design program. The program developed by the presented approach is successfully applied to design the formed turning tool for the bearing raceways.

  • Arc sensor gives important groove information during welding. Automatic seam tracking control system with arc sensor has significant characteristics such that bead formation is given as decentralization of penetration and formation of concave bead profile and that a turning point of transverse weaving with constant arc length control is decided whether or not torch height reaches to a specified setting level. Furthermore, the rotating action of the arc prevents hanging of weld bead and forms flat bead surface under high speed welding condition. The variation of groove and deposition area can be detected from the trace of weaving. The area and width of weaving trace has close correlation with the area of groove and deposition.   • In the continuous cutting process such as turning operation, chip control is thought very important to achieve the unmanned manufacturing system. The prediction of chip breakage under the given conditions is a substantial element for chip control. In this paper, a systematic approach to know the chip breaking region is represented under the concept of equivalent parameters. to Verify the suggested model, cutting experiments are executed with a commercial type and two other type chip breakers which have modified chip breaker parameters such as land width, groove width and nose radius. predicted chip breaking regions using the 3D cutting model agrees with those obtained from the experiments.

SCM440의 선삭가공시 CBN공구와 CBN코팅공구의 절삭특성 비교 (Cutting Characteristics Comparison between CBN and Coated CBN Tools in Turning SCM440)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate cutting characteristics and wear behavior in SCM440 steel with different cutting tools, CBN(Cubic Boron Nitride) and coated CBN. During the test coated CBN tool especially with TiAlN showed better wear resistance behavior than orginal CBN tools. In the interrupted cutting condition, axial groove affected tool surface with impact force during the turning operation. For advantageous turning parameter in the interrupted process it is recommendable that lower speed. Also surface roughness showed better behavior in the coated CBN tool conditions than normal CBN conditions. Mainly this is caused by reduced friction between material and tool surface with coated layer.

  • 터빈 익렬 내에서 발생하는 2차유동은 터빈 익렬에서 전체 공기역학적 손실의 30$\sim$50%, 입구 스테이터에서는 약 20%를 차지하며 터빈 효율 향상에 있어 개선해야 될 중요한 부분으로 인식되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 블레이드 앞전에 모서리 홈을 만들어 홈의 높이 및 깊이 등의 형상 변수를 변화시켜가면서 말굽와류의 발생 영역 및 강도의 감쇄 특성 및 구조에 대해 상용코드인 $FLUENT^{TM}$를 이용하여 수치해석적인 방법으로 연구하였다.

고정도.고속 Groove Die Set (High-accuracy and High-speed Groove Die Set)

  • Currently existing high-accuracy and high-speed die sets used in reciprocal press create scratches at the surface of guide posts, steel balls, and bushes due to vertical movement of balls with point-contacts between inner surface of bushes and guide posts. Consequently, accuracy of the die set and the life span of the metal mold are reduced. However, those scratches could reduce the pre-load of the steel ball. This research designed and developed a groove-type die set which improves life span of the die set by eliminating point-contacts of steel balls with guide posts. The guide post consisted of a steel-ball retainer, a steel-ball retainer stopper, a guide bush, a guide pin, a snap ring, and a spring. The steel-ball retainer has 72 holes with 8 columns of 9 holes in each column. The inner surface of the guide bush was grinded(surface roughness: $Ra\;\\;0.2{\mu}m$, accuracy: $0\;{\sim}\;-0.002mm$) after NC turning and heat treatment. Also, a line of small intermediate pocket was processed inside of the guide bush for lubrication and elimination of foreign materials. Guide grooves of steel balls were processed using a wire EDM(Electrical Discharge Machining) after heat treatment. With such a design of the guide post stated above, loads against steel balls could be dispersed greatly by the line contacts through the guide groove between the guide post and the guide bush, and the life span of the guide post could be expanded semi-permanently.

휴반용 분무기의 Nozzle에 관한 연구(III) (A Study on the Wide Reach Nozzle of Sprayer (III))

  • The factors to influence the travelling distance of sprayed particles for the medium range nozzle may by the groove depth of swirl plate, the cap slope, the diameter of cap hole, and pressure. 1. This study was conducted to examine Interaction effects among four factors to the travelling distance. The results of this study are summarized as followa; a) Interaction effects among four factors the groove depth(G), cap slope(C), diameter of cap hole(D), and pressure (P), were significant to influence the travelling distance except for $G{\times}P,\;C{\times}D{\times}P\;and\;G{\times}C{\times}D{\times}P$. b) Interaction effects with the pressure were very smaller than interaction effects among the other factors. c) Effect of change of the groove depth of swirl plate on the travelling distance of sprayed particles was generally a linear, the increasing rate of the change was about 0.345, which was very significant. d) Effect of change of cap slope on the travelling distance was generally a linear or a dull quadratic, the increasing rate was very small. e) Main effect of change of cap slope in the medium range nozzle was very smaller than that of the close range nozzle on the travelling distance, which was estimated by the changing of turning radius of flowing course in nozzle. f) Interaction effect between two factors in the medium range nozzle was more significant than that of the close range nozzle on the travelling distance.
