  • This paper describes the grid-size dependency of the conventional Eulerian-Lagrangian method to spray characteristics such as spray penetration and SMD in modeling DME sprays. In addition, the reduction of the grid-size dependency of the present Gas-jet model was investigated. The calculations were performed using the KIVA code and the calculated results were compared to those of experimental result. The results showed that the conventional Eulerian-Laglangian model predicts shorter spray penetration for large cell because of inaccurate calculation of momentum exchange between liquid and gas phase. However, it was shown that the gas-jet model reduced grid-size dependency to spray penetration by calculating relative velocity between liquid and ambient gas based on gas jet velocity.

  • The topography is recognized as an important factor in determining the streamflow response of watershed to precipitation. In watershed analysis, stream networks are very important parameters. Each DEM grid size and flowaccumulation threshold value of drainage accumulation matrix have influence on stream networks extracted by using grid DEM. Therefore, stream networks extracted from DEM varies with each DEM grid size and flowaccumulation threshold value. Generally, small threshold values will generate more detailed stream network with higher drainage density High threshold values will generate coarser stream networks. In this paper, total stream length in the study area was used to calculate the flowaccumulation threshold value by each DEM grid size. Stream network was derived by each DEM grid size, which is applied flowaccumulation threshold value. Regression equation was derived by correlation between flowaccumulation threshold value and each DEM grid size.

  • A parametric study for for the water entry of a two dimensional symmetric wedge with deadrise angle of 10 degrees was carried out to find out the most dominant parameter. Water entry problem with constant velocity is simplified as the stationary wedge in the way of the upcoming water surface. The calculated impact loads showed that the effect of the viscosity was not so important in this problem. For a given grid system a suitable time step size can be found. The most sensitive parameter was found to be the grid size.

  • In this study, the problems were analyzed that derived a different position evaluation results depending on the unit grid size that are applied to the terrain slope analysis conducted to assess the its position and environmental impacts in the prior environment reviewing process of golf course construction projects. For this purpose, the unit grid size were analyzed that can precisely reflect a actual terrain by analyzing the change of a slope percentage according to the change of unit grid size about 12 golf courses is currently in progress of construction work through the environmental consultation or ongoing consultation. And the consultation availability of environmental assessment was reverified by applying the unit grid size derived through this study about a study golf course. In the result of study, the bigger grid size for slope analysis is set, the greatly gradient is changed and the slope ratio of the higher elevation was lowly evaluated in comparison with actual terrain. The analytical result that most closely match the actual terrain was extracted in the case applied $5m{\times}5m$ of the unit grid sizes setting in this study. So, we proposed this study results to the ministry of environment and could be amended the unit grid size of $5m{\times}5m$ as standard for the analysis of slope. Also, if new grid size for site evaluation is applied to the study sites, 4 sites exceed the standard suggested the existing regulations and they are not proper as golf course site in flank of environment.

  • This paper performed terrain analysis using DTM(digital terrain model) with TIN/ GRID structure on PC environment. Contour layer from 1:5,000 scale map was used to produce DTM. DTHs were produced with and without considering breakline for each data structure. Processing time, file size, mean elevation and standard variation were analyzed for each DTM. slope map, aspect map were analyzed for grid structure with consideration of TEX>$5\times{5m},\;l0\times{10m},\;15\times{15m},\;l0\times{30m},\;45\times{45m},\;60\times{60m}$ cell size respectively. The results suggest following; The incorporation of breakline does improve mapping accuracy for highly disturbed landscape, Mean elevation doesn't increase as the grid size increases, while processing time, storage room is significantly lessened. Thus, the optimal grid size must be determined in advance for efficient application. slope decreases, while aspect increases as grid size is increasing.

  • The aim of this study is to analyse the sensitivity of fire simulation parameters including grid size and solid angle number which affect the performance of subway cabin fire simulation by FDS 4.07 version. The results of sensitivity analysis shows average of $10{\sim}20%$ differences in plume temperature, upper layer temperature, and layer height depending on the change of grid size. The study also shows that simulation with 0.05m grid size produces better resolution than that with coarse one which is 0.1m.

  • Recently, the research that analyze topography parameters that need in hydrology analysis using GIS techniques is achieved. DEM that is used in topography analysis can be constructed effectively using contour data of digital map. Therefore, DEM's applicability is increasing gradually in several fields. In this study, DEM of 20∼l00m grid size was applied PYONGCHANG river and JUBANG river basin to analyze what effect DEM grid size causes about slope and drainage watershed at topography parameter extraction. This study drew a regression equation about slope change by DEM grid size. As a result, according as DEM grid size increases, slope decreases, and basin area could know that is not change almost.

  • Purpose: IMRT QA using 2Dimensional array detector is carried out with condition for discrete dose distribution clinically. And it can affect uncertainty of evaluation using gamma method. We analyze gamma index variation according to grid size and suggest validate range of grid size for IMRT QA in Hospital. Materials and Methods: We performed QA using OniPro I'mRT system software version 1.7b on 10 patients (head and neck) for IMRT. The reference dose plane (grid size, 0.1 cm; location, [0, 0, 0]) from RTP was compared with the dose plane that has different grid size (0.1 cm, 0.5 cm, 1.0 cm, 2.0 cm, 4.0 cm) and different location (along Y-axis 0 cm, 0.2 cm, 0.5 cm, 1.0 cm). The gamma index variation was evaluated by observing the level of changes in Gamma pass rate, Average signal, Standard deviation for each case. Results: The average signal for each grid size showed difference levels of 0%, -0.19%, -0.04%, -0.46%, -8.32% and the standard deviation for each grid size showed difference levels of 0%, -0.30%, 1.24%, -0.70%, -7.99%. The gamma pass rate for each grid size showed difference levels of 0%, 0.27%, -1.43%, 5.32%, 5.60%. The gamma evaluation results according to distance in grid size range of 0.1 cm to 1.0 cm showed good agreement with reference condition (grid size 0.1 cm) within 1.5% and over 5% in case of the grid size was greater than 2.0 cm. Conclusion: We recognize that the grid size of gamma evaluation can make errors of IMRT QA. So we have to consider uncertainty of gamma evaluation according to the grid size and apply smaller than 2 cm grid size to reduce error and increase accuracy clinically.

  • This thesis is the fundamental study on the adaptation of escape device for reducing small size of fish in set-net. The escape devices for experiments were made the grid-type devices with three different slit sizes (15, 20 and 25mm). The experiments of size selectivity on escape devices were conducted by using two kinds of species as black rockfish (Sebastes schlegeli) and sea perch (Lateolabrax maculatusi) in the experimental tank. The size selectivity curve was fitted by using a logistic function and the parameters of selectivity curve were estimated by a maximum likelihood method. In the results; 50% selection ranges for the grid-type escape devices with three different slit sizes were; a black rockfish was 13.30, 19.22 and 22.06cm and a sea perch was 17.64, 20.91 and 22.78cm, respectively. The 50% selection range of a black rockfish was wilder than a sea perch about 1.1~1.3 time. Therefore, the small size of fish are able to reduce by using the grid type escape device. However, the optimum slit size of grid should be decided to consider the size of target species and economics of catches.

  • The rainfall pattern, rainfall intensity as well as topographical conditions used for the analysis of debris flow affect, in general, the magnitude of debris flow and flow velocity, when debris flow occurs. The consideration of topographical conditions implies that the topography is equally divided into grids and the slope of inside the grid is computed as an average, leading to, in turn, obtain the closer results to the reality as the grid is smaller in the case of the severely bended topography. Although the size of grid should be as small as possible so as for more accurate analysis of debris flow, the analysis of debris flow has been so far conducted by using sparsely divided grids due to the limitation of analysis algorithm, computational ability and running time. So, it is necessary to suggest an appropriate grid size for the practical approaches. Therefore, this study presents the evaluation of the effect of the size of a grid on the debris flow besides the factors which referred to the previous studies such as accumulated rainfall, rainfall intensity and rainfall duration time. From this, it enables to suggest a rational and practical grid size for topography to be divided.
