Advanced melting technology is now being employed in the manufacture of stainless steel powders. The new process currently includes electric arc furnace (EAF) technology in concert with Argon Oxygen Decarburization (AOD), High Performance Atomizing (HPA) and hydrogen annealing. The new high performance-processing route has allowed the more consistent production of existing products, and has allowed enhanced properties, such as improved green strength and green density. This paper will review these processing changes along with the potential new products that are being developed utilizing this technology. These include high strength stainless steels such as duplex and dual phase as well as stainless steel powders used in high temperature applications such as diesel filters and fuel cells.
Manganese-activated zincgallate (Zn1-xMnxGa2O4) phosphor as a green phosphor was readily prepared by coprecipitation in aqueous basic solution of metal salts. The obtained product converted to amorphous zincgallate even at 300℃, followed by crystallization at 1000 ℃. The pyrolyzed phosphor showed fine particle, then reduction treatment at 900 ℃ changed into homogeneous shape with slight grain growth(particle size less than 0.5 mm). The photoluminescence characteristics of the zincgallates have been investigated as a function of dopant concentrations, reducing atmospheres and temperatures. Under UV excitation the phosphors displayed the highest green emission efficiency at 504 nm when the specimen oxidized at 1000 ℃ was reduced at 900 ℃ in a mild hydrogen atmosphere (97% N2, 3% H2) with a flow rate of 100 ml/min.

In this study, Bio-hydrogen is produced from organic waste mixtures containing food waste and waste activated sludge (WAS). The effects of different operational factor on hydrogen production, including various solubilization methods for pretreatments of WAS, pH and different ratios of food waste and WAS, were investigated. The highest hydrogen production values are obtained as 4.3 mL $H_2/g$$VS_{consumed}$ in the case of applying the mixed pre-treatments of alkali and ultrasonic. The pH value in bio-reactor increased from 4 to 8 after the ultrasonic treatment with alkali and the hydrogen yield touched its highest value in the pH range of 5.0 to 5.5. Similarly, the hydrogen production reached the level of 13.8 mL $H_2/g$$VS_{consumed}$ using the same pre-treatment method from the mixture of food waste and WAS. The ratio of 2 : 1 produced a maximum amount of hydrogen of 5.0 L $H_2/L/d$. The amount of volatile fatty acids(VFAs) including acetate, propionate and butyrate, were also varied considerably. Propionate decreased consistently with rising of hydrogen while butyrate comparing to acetate relatively increased in the effluent.

As a carbon-free, green growth alternative, internal and external interest in hydrogen energy and technology is growing. Hydrogen was added to co-axial methane, methane-propane, and methane-propane-ethane diffusion flames, which are the main ingredients of LNG, to evaluate its effect on flame formation and combustion products. The variation in combustion products produced by adding hydrogen gradually to diffusion pyrolysis at room temperature and normal pressure conditions was observed experimentally by using a gas analyzer, and the shape of diffusion pyrolysis was observed step by step using a digital camera. The experimental results showed that the production volume of nitrogen oxides tended to increase and became close to linear as hydrogen was added to the diffusion pyrotechnic. This is because the relatively high temperature of heat insulation and fast combustion speed of hydrogen facilitated the production of thermal NOx. On the other hand, CO2 production tended to decrease as hydrogen was added to reduce the overall carbon ratio contained in the mixed diffusion flame of methane, methane-propane, and methane-ethane-propane. This means that the mixed fuel use of LNG-hydrogen in ships may potentially reduce emissions of CO2, a greenhouse gas.
Under the era of energy crisis, hydrogen energy is considered as one of the most potential alternative energies. Liquid hydrogen has much higher energy density per unit volume than gas hydrogen and is counted as the excellent energy storage method. In this study, Navier-Stokes equations based on 2-phase model were solved by using a computational fluid dynamics program and the liquefaction process of gaseous hydrogen passing through a cryogenic cooling tube was analyzed. The copper with high thermal conductivity was assumed as the material for cryogenic cooling tube. For different inlet velocities of 5 m/s, 10 m/s and 20 m/s for hydrogen gas, the distributions of fluid temperature, axial and radial velocities, and volume fractions of gas and liquid hydrogens were compared. These research results are expected to be used as basic data for the future design and fabrication of cryogenic cooling tube to transform the hydrogen gas into liquid hydrogen.
We report a simple route for synthesizing multi-dimensional structured silicon anode materials from commercially available bulk silicon powders via metal-assisted chemical etching process. In the first step, silver catalyst was deposited onto the surface of bulk silicon via a galvanic displacement reaction. Next, the silver-decorated silicon particles were chemically etched in a mixture of hydrofluoric acid and hydrogen peroxide to make multi-dimensional silicon consisting of one-dimensional silicon nanowires and micro-scale silicon cores. As-synthesized silicon particles were coated with a carbon via thermal decomposition of acetylene gas. The carbon-coated multi-dimensional silicon anodes exhibited excellent electrochemical properties, including a high specific capacity (1800 mAh/g), a stable cycling retention (cycling retention of 89% after 20 cycles), and a high rate capability (71% at 3 C rate, compared to 0.1 C rate). This process is a simple and mass-productive (yield of 40-50%), thus opens up an effective route to make a high-performance silicon anode materials for lithiumion batteries.
To evaluate the possibility as a separator in alkaline water electrolysis, the thermal stability, ion conductivity and durability of 5 commercially available anion exchange membranes were tested. The thermal stability of FAAM-PK-75 and FAAM-40 membrane analyzed by thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA) showed good performance compared to the other three types of AEM, AHO, and AHA membrane. The ion conductivity of AEM membrane measured in 7 M KOH solution at 25℃ and 80℃ had a higher value of about 4~17 times compared to the other membranes. The durability of FAAM-PK-75 tested in 7 M KOH solution at 25℃ was high compared to the other membranes.

Hypergolic propellants have been widely used for space propulsion systems based their long-term storability and high ignition reliability. Since conventional hypergolic propellants are highly toxic and carcinogenic, handling and operating costs are significant. To overcome the drawbacks, numerous studies have been actively performed to develope new hypergolic propellants, ensuring that the combinations are high performance, low toxicity and low environmental impact. In the present study, a comprehensive survey was conducted to summarize the research and development of green hypergolic propellants involving hydrogen peroxide, nitric acid, and ionic liquids.
Photocatalytic green energy H2 production utilizing inexhaustible solar energy has been considered as a potential solution to problems of energy scarcity and environmental contamination. However, the design of a cost-effective photocatalyst using simple synthesis methodology is still a grand challenge. Herein, a low-cost transition metal, Cu-loaded one-dimensional TiO2 nanorods (Cu/TNR) were fabricated using an easy-to-use synthesis methodology for significant H2 production under simulated solar light. X-ray photoelectron spectral studies and electron microscopy measurements provide evidence to support the successful formation of the Cu/TNR catalyst under our experimental conditions. UV-vis DRS studies further demonstrate that introducing Cu on the surface of TNR substantially increases light absorption in the visible range. Notably, the Cu/TNR catalyst with optimum Cu content, achieved a remarkable H2 production with a yield of 39,239 µmol/g after 3 h of solar light illumination, representing 7.4- and 27.7-fold enhancements against TNR and commercial P25, respectively. The notably improved H2 evolution activity of the target Cu/TNR catalyst was primarily attributed to its excellent separation and efficiently hampered recombination of photoexcited electron-hole pairs. The Cu/TNR catalyst is, therefore, a potential candidate for photocatalytic green energy applications.
The HI features associated with HII regions and radio sources in the galactic-plane are searched in the Maryland-Green Bank Galactic 21-cm Line Survey. Among the twenty-eight such objects, twenty-five show HI depression features, two no feature, and an emission feature with excess HI brightness temperature. Most of these feature are surrounded by strong HI emissions. The depth of the HI depression is proportional to the radio continuum brightness temperature. The angular dimensions of the HI feature and radio source are comparable. The small HI depressions shown at the positions of HII region located in the outer solar circle are considered to be HI self-absorption features of very cold HI gas.
