In this study, optimal shot peening process conditions were investigated for improving the cavitation erosion resistance of gray cast iron under a marine environment. Shot peening was performed with variables of injection pressure and injection time. The durability was then evaluated through cavitation erosion test which was conducted according to the modified ASTM G-32 standard. The tendency of cavitation erosion damage according to shot peening process condition was investigated through weight loss rate, surface and cross-sectional analysis of the specimen before and after the test. As a result, the shot peening process condition that could minimize cavitation erosion was when the injection pressure was the lowest and when the injection time was the shortest. This was because the flake graphite exposed on the gray cast iron surface could be easily removed under such condition. Therefore, the notch effect can be prevented by surface modification. In addition, the cavitation erosion damage mechanism of gray cast iron was discussed in detail.
To assess the performance and characteristics of colored building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) modules, a comparative assessment of empirical performance was conducted on colored BIPV modules (gray, blue, and orange) and general BIPV module. These modules were installed on the south-facing slope (30°) for comparative assessment through a field test. Monitoring data were collected every 10 min from December 20, 2019 to January 21, 2020 and used to performance and characteristics analysis. Performance ratio and module efficiency were utilized during performance indexing for comparative assessment. For general BIPV modules, the operational efficiency was analyzed at 16.63%, whereas for colored BIPV modules, 13.70% (gray), 15.12 % (blue), and 14.49% (orange) were analyzed. It was discovered that the efficiency reduction caused by transmission losses owing to the application of colored cover glasses were 17.74% (gray), 9.05% (blue), and 9.86 % (orange), under field testing conditions. These values turned on an additional 7% reduction in efficiency for gray BIPV modules, compared to the degradation resulting from transmission drop (gray: 10.87%, blue: 8.99%, and orange: 9.02%) calculated using the efficiency of each module in standard test conditions (STC). Performance ratio analysis resulted in the following values: 0.92 for general BIPV modules, and 0.85 (gray), 0.91 (blue), and 0.91 (orange) for colored BIPV modules. As demonstrated by the above results, modules with a colored cover glass may differ in their operational performance depending on their color, unlike general modules. Therefore, in addition to the performance evaluation under STC, additional factors of degradation require consideration through field test.
We investigated whether the 81 items of the Gray-Wheelwright test correctly measure the concept of Jung's typology and aimed to refine the test. Participants (n=431) completed the Gray-Wheelwright test, and the results were analyzed using factor analysis with the varimax rotation and the maximum likelihood extraction method. A pair of opposing attitudes, introversion/extroversion, or one of the two pairs of opposing functional types, thinking/feeling or intuition/sensation, was labeled to the extracted factor according to the majority type of the items in the factor. The minority items or items not included in any factors were excluded from making a short form of the Gray-Wheelwright test with 45 items. We used intraclass correlation (ICC) coefficient and Cronbach's alpha for the test-retest reliability and internal consistency of the test, respectively. The newly developed short form of the Gray-Wheelwright test measured the Jung's personality types well, which was comparable to the original one while reducing time and effort required for the testing.
Interval censored data frequently occur in observation studies where the subject is followed periodically. In this paper, our interest is to suggest a test statistic to compare the CIF of two groups with interval censored failure time data in the presence of competing risks. Gray (1988) suggested a test statistic for right censored data that motivated a well-known Fine and Gray's subdistribution hazard model. A multiple imputation technique is adopted to adopt Gray's test statistic to interval censored data. The powers and sizes of the suggested method are investigated through diverse simulation schemes. The main merit of the suggested method is its simplicity to implement with existing software for right censored data. The method is illustrated by analyzing Bangkok's HIV cohort dataset.
In February 2014, gray mold rotting symptoms were observed in carrots in cold storage at Gangneung, Gangwon province, Korea. The typical symptom of gray mold rot showed abundant blackish gray mycelia and conidia was observed on the infected root. The pathogen was isolated from infected root and cultured on PDA for further fungal morphological observation and confirming its pathogenicity according to Koch's postulates. Results of morphological data, pathogenicity test and rDNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS 1 and 4) sequence showed that the postharvest gray mold rot of carrot was caused by Botyrtis cinerea. This is the first report of postharvest gray mold rot on carrot in Korea.

We use statistical tests which are useful for two-sample problem for detecting edges in gray-level images. An edge is detected by examining changes in gray-level value between adjacent pixel neighborhoods. Some experimental results show that nonparametric detectors such as Mann-Whitney test median test and Kolmogorov-Smirnov test perform effectively in both noisy and noise-free images while parametric T test is sensitive to noise.
Purpose: This study is to investigate correlation between eye fatigue and letter contrast according to letter contrast changes on monitor display. Methods: Reading speed test were carried out for 53 subjects (mean age: $22.68{\pm}1.85$ years) who have over Best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) 1.0, and 45 subjects, who could read over 123 out of 163 letters among 53 subjects were selected. They were asked to read the letters which were composed of Black (contrast 100%), Dark gray (contrast 80%), Gray (contrast 80%), Light gray (contrast 30%) randomly. The change of their eye fatigue by letter contrast on monitor display was measured by monitoring their eyes with an eye-tracker while they were reading letters. Results: Event Duration (sec) was 33.635 for Black, 32.266 Dark gray, 33.936 for Gray, and 34.848 for Light gray. Average of Fixation Duration (sec) was 0.224 for Black, 0.218 for Dark gray, 0.239 for Gray and 0.243 for Light gray. Average of Pupil diameter (mm) was 41.133 mm for Black, 41.160 mm for Dark gray, 40.880 mm for Gray and 40.459 mm for Light gray. Frequency (blinks/sec) was 0.211 for Black, 0.206 for Dark gray, 0.221 for Gray, and 0.238 for Light gray. Conclusions: Event Duration and average of Fixation Duration were the shortest for Dark gray and the longest for Light gray. In average Pupil diameter was the biggest Dark gray and the smallest for Light gray. Blink Frequency (blinks/sec) was the lowest for Dark gray and the highest for Light gray. Visual fatigue by brightness of letters on monitor display was the least for Dark gray followed by Black, Gray and Light gray.

A new emotion-based image retrieval method is proposed in this paper. The research was motivated by Soen's evaluation of human emotion on color patterns. Thirteen pairs of adjective words expressing emotion pairs such as like-dislike, beautiful-ugly, natural-unnatural, dynamic-static, warm-cold, gay-sober, cheerful-dismal, unstablestable, light-dark, strong-weak, gaudy-plain, hard-soft, heavy-light are modeled by 19-dimensional color array and $4{\times}3$ gray matrix in off-line. Once the query is presented in text format, emotion model-based query formulation produces the associated color array and gray matrix. Then, images related to the query are retrieved from the database based on the multiplication of color array and gray matrix, each of which is extracted from query and database image. Experiments over 450 images showed an average retrieval rate of 0.61 for the use of color array alone and an average retrieval rate of 0.47 for the use of gray matrix alone.
In this study, we identified the causative agent of post-harvest gray mold on broccoli that was stored on a farmers' cooperative in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province, South Korea, in September 2016. The incidence of gray mold on broccoli was 10-30% after 3-5 weeks of storage at $3^{\circ}C$. Symptoms included brownish curd and gray-to-dark mycelia with abundant conidia on the infected broccoli curds. The fungus was isolated from infected fruit and cultured on potato dextrose agar. To identify the fungus, we examined the morphological characteristics and sequenced the rDNA of the fungus and confirmed its pathogenicity according to Koch's postulates. The results of the morphological examination, pathogenicity test, and sequencing of the 5.8S rDNA of the internal transcribed spacer regions (ITS1 and ITS4) and three nuclear protein-coding genes, G3PDH, HSP60, and RPB2, revealed that the causal agent of the post-harvest gray mold on broccoli was Botrytis cinerea. To our knowledge, this is the first report of post-harvest gray mold on broccoli in Korea.
The gating design of gray cast iron was programmed in a Personal computer. By this program, casting test was done. The results obtained are as follows. 1. Gating design that can calculate the velocity of metal flow and size in each gate section by knowing the loss coefficient caused by friction loss and bend loss was programmed. 2. In the test casting, the gating ratio was changed into 1.1:1.3:1, 1:2:2, 1:4:4. And sound casting, free of sand washing defect, was obtained at the velocity of 35.5cm/sec in ingate.
