Objectives: This study aimed to describe recent patterns in the types of statistical test used in original articles that were published in Journal of the Korean Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Materials and Methods: Thirty-six original articles published in the Journal in 2015 and 2016 were ascertained. The type of statistical test was identified by one researcher. Descriptive statistics, such as frequency, rank, and proportion, were calculated. Graphical statistics, such as a histogram, were constructed to reveal the overall utilization pattern of statistical test types. Results: Twenty-two types of statistical test were used. Statistical test type was not reported in four original articles and classified as unclear in 5%. The four most frequently used statistical tests constituted 47% of the total tests and these were the chi-square test, Student's t-test, Fisher's exact test, and Mann-Whitney test in descending order. Regression models, such as the Cox proportional hazard model and multiple logistic regression to adjust for potential confounding variables, were used in only 6% of the studies. Normality tests, including the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Levene test, Shapiro-Wilk test, and $Scheff{\acute{e}}^{\prime}s$ test, were used diversely but in only 10% of the studies. Conclusion: A total of 22 statistical tests were identified, with four tests occupying almost half of the results. Adoption of a nonparametric test is recommended when the status of normality is vague. Adjustment for confounding variables should be pursued using a multiple regression model when the number of potential confounding variables is numerous.
In most pattern recognition and image understanding applications, images are degraded by noise and other distortions. Therefore, it is more relevant to decide how similar two objects are rather than to decide whether the two are exactly the same. In this paper, we propose a method for recognizing degraded symbols using a distance measure between two graphs representing the symbols. a symbol is represented as a graph consisting of nodes and edges based on the run graph concept. The graph is then transformed into a reference model graph with production rule containing the embedding transform. The symbols are recognized by using the distance measure which is estimated by using the number of production rules used and the structural homomorphism between a transformed graph and a model graph. the proposed approach is applies to the recognition of non-note musical symbols and the result are given.
Abstract Message Sequence Chart (MSC) standardized by International Telecommunication Union is a graphical and textual language for describing the specification of concurrent systems. It is frequently used both formally and informally for specifying the behavior of real-time systems, in particular telecommunication switching systems. To ensure that a communication system operates properly, the verification process showing the correctness of system's behavior formally is necessary. One of the verification methods is a finite-state method. In the finite-state method, the global state transition graph (GSTG) is constructed and then safety and liveness properties of systems are verified through a well-known method such as model checking. In this paper, we forcus on the construction of GSTG from the specifications of telecommunication software written in MSC. We suggest Action Dependency Graph (ADG) which can present the semantics of MSC intuitively and also provide a GSTG construction method from ADG. MSC specifications are translated to ADGs and, in turns, the GSTGs are constructed by using these ADGs.

The aim of this study is to find an analytic solution to the problem of determining the optimal capacity of a batch-storage network to meet demand for finished products in a system undergoing joint random variations of operating time and batch material loss. The superstructure of the plant considered here consists of a network of serially and/or parallel interlinked batch processes and storage units. The production processes transform a set of feedstock materials into another set of products with constant conversion factors. The final product demand flow is susceptible to joint random variations in the cycle time and batch size. The production processes have also joint random variations in cycle time and product quantity. The spoiled materials are treated through regeneration or waste disposal processes. The objective function of the optimization is minimizing the total cost, which is composed of setup and inventory holding costs as well as the capital costs of constructing processes and storage units. A novel production and inventory analysis the PSW (Periodic Square Wave) model, provides a judicious graphical method to find the upper and lower bounds of random flows. The advantage of this model is that it provides a set of simple analytic solutions while also maintaining a realistic description of the random material flows between processes and storage units; as a consequence of these analytic solutions, the computation burden is significantly reduced. The proposed method has the potential to rapidly provide very useful data on which to base investment decisions during the early plant design stage. It should be of particular use when these decisions must be made in a highly uncertain business environment.

ISO 15926 is an international standard for integration of lifecycle data for process plants including oil and gas facilities. From the viewpoint of information modeling, ISO 15926 Parts 2 provides the general data model that is designed to be used in conjunction with reference data. Reference data are standard instances that represent classes, objects, properties, and templates common to a number of users, process plants, or both. ISO 15926 Parts 4 and 7 provide the initial set of classes, objects, properties and the initial set of templates, respectively. User-defined reference data specific to companies or organizations are defined by inheriting from the initial reference data and the initial set of templates. In order to support the extension of reference data and templates, an editor that provides creation, deletion and modification functions of user-defined reference data is needed. In this study, an editor for reference data based on ISO 15926 was developed. Sample reference data were encoded in OWL (web ontology language) according to the specification of ISO 15926 Part 8. iRINGTools and dot15926Editor were benchmarked for the design of GUI (graphical user interface). Reference data search, creation, modification, and deletion functions were implemented with XML (extensible markup language) DOM (document object model), and SPARQL (SPARQL protocol and RDF query language).
The experimental design and response surface methodology (RSM) have been applied to the investigation of the electro-UV complex process for the disinfection of E. coli in the water. The disinfection reactions of electro-UV process were mathematically described as a function of parameters power ($X_1$), NaCl dosage ($X_2$), initial pH ($X_3$) and disinfection time ($X_4$) being modeled by use of the Box-Behnken technique. The application of RSM using the Box-Behnken technique yielded the following regression equation, which is an empirical relationship between the residual E. coli number and test variables in actual variables: Ln (CFU) = 23.57 - 0.87 power - 1.87 NaCl dosage - 2.13 pH - 2.84 time - 0.09 power time - 0.07 NaCl dosage pH + 0.14 pH time + 0.03 $power^2$ + 0.47 NaCl $dosage^2$ + 0.20 $pH^2$+ 0.33 $time^2$. The model predictions agreed well with the experimentally observed result ($R^2$ = 0.9987). Graphical response surface and contour plots were used to locate the optimum point. The estimated ridge of maximum response and optimal conditions for the E. coli disinfection using canonical analysis was Ln 1.06 CFU (power, 15.40 W; NaCl dosage, 1.95 g/L, pH, 5.94 and time, 4.67 min). To confirm this optimum condition, the obtained number of the residual E. coli after three additional experiments were Ln 1.05, 1.10 and Ln 1.12. These values were within range of 0.62 (95% PI low)~1.50 (95% PI high), which indicated that conforming the reproducibility of the model.

The purpose of this study was to develop prediction models for plant species abundance by stream restoration. Generally the stream plant is affected by stream gemophology. So in this study, the relationship between the vegetation abundance and stream gemophology was developed by multiple regression analysis. The stream characteristics utilized in this study were longitudinal slope, transectional slope, micro-landforms through the longitudinal direction, riparian width and geometric mean diameter and biggest diameter of bed material, and cumulated coarse and fine sand weight portion. The Pyungchang River with mountainous watershed and the Kyungan stream and the Bokha stream in the agricultural region were selected and vegetation species abundance and stream characteristics were documented from the site at 2~3km intervals from the upper stream to the lower. The Models for predicting the vegetation abundance were developed by multiple regression analysis using SPSS statistics package. The linear relationship between the dependant(species abundance) and independant(stream characteristics) variables was tested by a graphical method. Longitudinal and transectional slope had a nonlinear relationship with species abundance. In the next step, the independance between the independant variables was tested and the correlation between independant and dependant variables was tested by the Pearson bivariate correlation test. The selected independant variables were transectional slope, riparian width, and cumulated fine sand weight portion. From the multiple regression analysis, the $R^2$for the Pyungchang river, Kyungan stream, Bokga stream were 0.651, 0.512 and 0.240 respectively. The natural stream configuration in the Pyungchang river had the best result and the lower $R^2$for Kyunan and Bokha stream were due to human impact which disturbed the natural ecosystem. The lowest $R^2$for the Bokha stream was due to the shifting sandy bed. If the stream bed is fugitive, the prediction model may not be valid. Using the multiple regression models, the vegetation abundance could be predicted with stream characteristics such as, transection slope, riaparian width, cumulated fine sand weigth portion, after stream restoration.

The Client-Server model is a computing technique that efficiently uses distributed resources via networks. But, generating an application using Client- Server model requires many different expertises to developers in comparison to that of using the centralized computing method. That is, and application developer must be familiar with network programming and GUI(Graphical User Interface) techniques in addition to conventional programming skills. Accordingly, the time and man power have been issued for building a Client-Server system. To alleviate these problem, the Client-Server applications development tools are needed To meet such a need, we developed a GUI based tool, called Hanuri/C, for generating Client-Server application programs. In comparison to existing Client-Server tools, Hanuri/C is reinforced Multimedia facilities, Hanuri/C is reinforced Multimedia facilities. Hanuri/C is considered as a front-end part of distributed system software. That is, Hanuri/C is a Client-Server tool similar to Forth Generation Language(4GL) supporting multimedia application on top of the Distributed Computing environment(DCE). In this paper, we present the design and implementation method of the middleware part of Hanuri/c.

Re-engineering tools can substantially increase software maintenance productivity and the quality of maintenance work. Re-engineering usually involves changing the form(e.g.changining objects names and definitions, restructuring process logic) of a program. In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of InMaC++ that is a software tool oriented towards maintenance of C++ object oriented programs. With InMaC++, programms can be displayed and edited in two forms : as the code and as the diagram InMaC++ also contains transformations in both directions, i,e. from code to diagram and from diagram to skeletons of code. Hence, it is suitable for re-engineering and maintenance of existing code. Specially designed browsers implement the graphical interface. InMaC++ contains a database that is based on a simple but effective data model of InMaC++ programs. The model contains only four object classes and three relations, which makes the tool small, and easy to implement and use. A simple query language allows browsing through the database.
It might be true that both experimental and analytic techniques have been developed in the vibration analysis end engineering. It could not be said, however, that the experimental method has been also developed as much as analytic method, such as Finite Element Method One of the reason is that computation time becomes longer and that the solution often diverges depending on the choice of initial value in solving nonlinear equation. The equation in experimental modal analysis is usually composed of the nonlinear term of natural frequency and modal damping ratio, and the linear one of equivalent stiffness. In this study, the nonlinear terms were solved first, and then the linear term was obtained. The experimental modal parameters were estimated, applying the developed experimental modal analysis curve-fitting method to the super-structure model. In addition, the number of modes and modal damping ratio could be easily determined by the developed program with the application of graphical techniques and with easy handling button.
