As the use of semantic web based on XML increases in the field of data management, a lot of studies to extract useful information from the data stored in ontology have been tried based on association rule mining. Ontology data is advantageous in that data can be freely expressed because it has a flexible and scalable structure unlike a conventional database having a predefined structure. On the contrary, it is difficult to find frequent patterns in a uniformized analysis method. The goal of this study is to provide a basis for extracting useful knowledge from ontology by searching for frequently occurring subgraph patterns by applying transaction-based graph mining techniques to ontology schema graph data and instance graph data constituting ontology. In order to overcome the structural limitations of the existing ontology mining, the frequent pattern search methodology in this study uses the methodology used in graph mining to apply the frequent pattern in the graph data structure to the ontology by applying iterative node chunking method. Our suggested methodology will play an important role in knowledge extraction.
Since frequent pattern mining was proposed in order to search for hidden, useful pattern information from large-scale databases, various types of mining approaches and applications have been researched. Especially, frequent graph pattern mining was suggested to effectively deal with recent data that have been complicated continually, and a variety of efficient graph mining algorithms have been studied. Graph patterns obtained from graph databases have their own importance and characteristics different from one another according to the elements composing them and their lengths. However, traditional frequent graph pattern mining approaches have the limitations that do not consider such problems. That is, the existing methods consider only one minimum support threshold regardless of the lengths of graph patterns extracted from their mining operations and do not use any of the patterns' weight factors; therefore, a large number of actually useless graph patterns may be generated. Small graph patterns with a few vertices and edges tend to be interesting when their weighted supports are relatively high, while large ones with many elements can be useful even if their weighted supports are relatively low. For this reason, we propose a weight-based frequent graph pattern mining algorithm considering length-decreasing support constraints. Comprehensive experimental results provided in this paper show that the proposed method guarantees more outstanding performance compared to a state-of-the-art graph mining algorithm in terms of pattern generation, runtime, and memory usage.

Data mining is a method that extract useful knowledges from huge size of data. Recently, a focussing research part of data mining is to find interesting patterns in graph databases. More efficient methods have been proposed in graph mining. However, graph analysis methods are in NP-hard problem. Graph pattern mining based on pattern growth method is to find complete set of patterns satisfying certain property through extending graph pattern edge by edge with avoiding generation of duplicated patterns. This paper suggests an efficient approach of reducing computing time of pattern growth method through pattern growth's property that similar patterns cause similar tasks. we suggest pruning methods which reduce search space. Based on extensive performance study, we discuss the results and the future works.

The goal of data mining is to extract new and useful knowledge from large scale datasets. As the amount of available data grows explosively, it became vitally important to develop faster data mining algorithms for various types of data. Recently, an interest in developing data mining algorithms that operate on graphs has been increased. Especially, mining frequent patterns from structured data such as graphs has been concerned by many research groups. A graph is a highly adaptable representation scheme that used in many domains including chemistry, bioinformatics and physics. For example, the chemical structure of a given substance can be modelled by an undirected labelled graph in which each node corresponds to an atom and each edge corresponds to a chemical bond between atoms. Internet can also be modelled as a directed graph in which each node corresponds to an web site and each edge corresponds to a hypertext link between web sites. Notably in bioinformatics area, various kinds of newly discovered data such as gene regulation networks or protein interaction networks could be modelled as graphs. There have been a number of attempts to find useful knowledge from these graph structured data. One of the most powerful analysis tool for graph structured data is frequent subgraph analysis. Recurring patterns in graph data can provide incomparable insights into that graph data. However, to find recurring subgraphs is extremely expensive in computational side. At the core of the problem, there are two computationally challenging problems. 1) Subgraph isomorphism and 2) Enumeration of subgraphs. Problems related to the former are subgraph isomorphism problem (Is graph A contains graph B?) and graph isomorphism problem(Are two graphs A and B the same or not?). Even these simplified versions of the subgraph mining problem are known to be NP-complete or Polymorphism-complete and no polynomial time algorithm has been existed so far. The later is also a difficult problem. We should generate all of 2$^n$ subgraphs if there is no constraint where n is the number of vertices of the input graph. In order to find frequent subgraphs from larger graph database, it is essential to give appropriate constraint to the subgraphs to find. Most of the current approaches are focus on the frequencies of a subgraph: the higher the frequency of a graph is, the more attentions should be given to that graph. Recently, several algorithms which use level by level approaches to find frequent subgraphs have been developed. Some of the recently emerging applications suggest that other constraints such as connectivity also could be useful in mining subgraphs : more strongly connected parts of a graph are more informative. If we restrict the set of subgraphs to mine to more strongly connected parts, its computational complexity could be decreased significantly. In this paper, we present an efficient algorithm to mine frequent subgraphs that are more strongly connected. Experimental study shows that the algorithm is scaling to larger graphs which have more than ten thousand vertices.

Text Mining is a research area of retrieving high quality hidden information such as patterns, trends, or distributions through analyzing unformatted text. Basically, since text mining assumes an unstructured text, it needs to be represented as a simple text model for analyzing it. So far, most frequently used model is VSM(Vector Space Model), in which a text is represented as a bag of words. However, recently much researches tried to apply a graph-based text model for representing semantic relationships between words. In this paper, we survey research trends of graph-based text representation models for text mining. Additionally, we also discuss about future models of graph-based text mining.

Current graph mining algorithms suffers from performance issues when querying patterns are in increasingly massive network graphs. However, from our observation most data graphs inherently contains recurring semantic subgraphs/substructures. Most graph mining algorithms treat them as independent subgraphs and perform computations on them redundantly, which result in performance degradation when processing massive graphs. In this paper, we propose an algorithm which exploits these inherent recurring subgraphs/substructures to reduce graph sizes so that redundant computations performed by the traditional graph mining algorithms are reduced. Experimental results show that our graph compression approach achieve up to 69% reduction in graph sizes over the real datasets. Moreover, required time to construct the compressed graphs is also reasonably reduced.

The uncertainties of the uncertain graph make the traditional definition and algorithms on mining dense graph for certain graph not applicable. The subgraph obtained by maximizing expected density from an uncertain graph always has many low edge-probability data, which makes it low reliable and low expected edge density. Based on the concept of ${\beta}$-subgraph, to overcome the low reliability of the densest subgraph, the concept of optimal ${\beta}$-subgraph is proposed. An efficient greedy algorithm is also developed to find the optimal ${\beta}$-subgraph. Simulation experiments of multiple sets of datasets show that the average edge-possibility of optimal ${\beta}$-subgraph is improved by nearly 40%, and the expected edge density reaches 0.9 on average. The parameter ${\beta}$ is scalable and applicable to multiple scenarios.
The increasing popularity of graph data, such as social and online communities, has initiated a prolific research area in knowledge discovery and data mining. As more real-world graphs are released publicly, there is growing concern about privacy breaching for the entities involved. An adversary may reveal identities of individuals in a published graph, with the topological structure and/or basic graph properties as background knowledge. Many previous studies addressing such attacks as identity disclosure, however, concentrate on preserving privacy in simple graph data only. In this paper, we consider the identity disclosure problem in weighted graphs. The motivation is that, a weighted graph can introduce much more unique information than its simple version, which makes the disclosure easier. We first formalize a general anonymization model to deal with weight-based attacks. Then two concrete attacks are discussed based on weight properties of a graph, including the sum and the set of adjacent weights for each vertex. We also propose a complete solution for the weight anonymization problem to prevent a graph from both attacks. In addition, we also investigate the impact of the proposed methods on community detection, a very popular application in the graph mining field. Our approaches are efficient and practical, and have been validated by extensive experiments on both synthetic and real-world datasets.

The proposed ANIDS(Advanced Network Intrusion Detection System) which is network-based IDS using Association Rule Mining, collects the packets on the network, analyze the associations of the packets, generates the pattern graph by using the highly associated packets using Association Rule Mining, and detects the intrusion by using the generated pattern graph. ANIDS consists of PMM(Packet Management Module) collecting and managing packets, PGGM(Pattern Graph Generate Module) generating pattern graphs, and IDM(Intrusion Detection Module) detecting intrusions. Specially, PGGM finds the candidate packets of Association Rule large than $Sup_{min}$ using Apriori algorithm, measures the Confidence of Association Rule, and generates pattern graph of association rules large than $Conf_{min}$. ANIDS reduces the false positive by using pattern graph even before finalizing the new pattern graph, the pattern graph which is being generated is compared with the existing one stored in DB. If they are the same, we can estimate it is an intrusion. Therefore, this paper can reduce the speed of intrusion detection and the false positive and increase the detection ratio of intrusion.

Recently, there are many research of datamining. On the transaction dataset, association rules is made by finding of interesting patterns. A part of mining, sub-structure mining is increased in interest of and applied to many high technology. But graph mining has more computing time then itemset mining. Therefore, that need efficient way for avoid duplication. GASTON is best algorithm of duplication free. This paper analyze GASTON and expect the future work.
