In this paper we discuss what Competitive Intelligence means, why it is growing in importance in the business world and how Library and Information Science Schools in the United States are responding to the opportunities presented by Competitive Intelligence. As a conclusion, we discuss some of the implications of our findings for Library and Information Science education in Korea.

대학도서관에서 자료기증이 활발하게 이루어지고 있으나 지금까지 우리나라에서 자료기증을 다룬 연구는 많지 않다. 본 연구의 목적은 미국 대학도서관의 자료기증 절차에 대하여 알아보고 설문조사를 통해 우리나라 대학도서관의 자료기증 현황을 파악하여 개선방안을 모색하는데 있다.

장애인을 포함한 정보취약계층은 공공도서관을 통한 정보 접근에 있어 비장애인중심의 편의시설 설치와 관리 기준 부재로 인하여 어려움을 격고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 공공도서관에 적용할 수 있도록 정보 접근을 용이하게 하기 위한 ‘장애인편의시설 체크리스트’를 제시하고자 한다.

본 연구는 온라인 상용법률데이터베이스 인터페이스를 인포메이션 아키텍쳐 측면에서 평가하여 개선점을 도출하고자 한다. 평가기준은 문헌조사를 통해 조직구조 네비게이션, 디자인, 검색 및 출력, 상호작용으로 크게 나누고 각 항목을 세부하여 총 56개의 정량적 평가항목을 선정한 후 심층분석을 위한 정성적 평가항목 15개를 선정하여 설문조사 실시 후 결과를 종합 분석하여 개선점을 제안한다.

현재 국내에 체류하는 외국인 수가 150만 명에 이르고 있으며 그 수는 꾸준히 증가하고 있다. 이처럼 한국사회가 다문화사회로 진입함에 따라 일선 도서관에서 제공하는 다문화서비스가 중요해졌기 때문에 다문화자료실과 다문화프로그램도 증가하고 있다. 그러나 서비스 제공을 전담하여 전문적으로 제공할 인력은 충분하지 않다. 본 연구에서는 다문화자료실 혹은 다문화프로그램을 운영하는 도서관의 다문화서비스전문사서 현황과 문제점 등을 알아보고 앞으로의 발전 방향을 모색하고자 한다.

Graduate University in Korea is independent graduate school which runs only M.A./Ph.D. course. This study aims to investigate the current situation of graduate university library in Korea, to grasp the problems and to examine how to improve it. Comparing the data based on several statistics with a related standard, graduate university library is very poor except a facility section. This current inferiority of graduate university library seems to result from poor financial fundamental of graduate university, and grow by imperfect laws and ordinances. To solve such problems, initially we need to satisfy the followings. First, we must establish or revise laws and ordinances concerned, and then a minimum standard should be presented. Second, we will lead university to reform voluntarily by improving university information disclosure. Finally, the effort and cooperation with related organizations is necessary.

This paper examines the characteristics of 23 libraries affiliated with educational institutions of the Korean miltary. Materials and data used in this analysis were obtained from a variety of statute books, Korean Library Association publications, past works in military-related research, questionnaires and interviews with library staff. For each military educational institutions, the background to its foundation and Its current operations are briefly reviewed. Library characteristics subjected to analysis pertain to the following 8 areas： location and architecture, stack arrangement, furniture and furnishings, personnel, service elements, budget, book stock, and extent of computerization. The affiliated library (consisting of reading rooms and/or stack rooms) is then classified as belonging to one of the following three levels: graduate-school level (total of 4 libraries), university level (5 libraries), and technical-school level (14 libraries). When necessary. particular libraries are examined in detail. This research reveals that while most graduate-school and university level libraries are being operated on a relatively sound basis, there are significant disparities among university level libraries. As for technical-school level libraries, the lack of professional staff and service elements for users is seriously impairing their operations. In order to address these problems and support military education and research in the age of segyehwa and information, it is suggested that the Korean military formulate comprehensive measures to modernize library facilities and improve their operations.

본 연구는 예비 연구(Pilot Test)로써, 엘프레드 채트먼(Elfred Chatman)으로 대표되는 정보 빈곤 이론을 바탕으로 재한유학생의 일반적인 정보 요구가 무엇이며 스스로를 정보 빈곤층으로 인식하는지, 어떠한 정보 빈곤 양상을 경험하는지에 대한 본격적인 연구를 수행함에 앞서 현 시점에서 설정한 이론적 배경의 적용 가능성을 검토하고 보완이 필요한 사항을 도출하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 재한 중국인 유학생 J, K, Y를 대상으로 심층 면담을 수행하여 결과를 분석하였다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the possibility of using chatbots as a school library educational tool. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, 116 librarian teachers first investigated the types and contents of education conducted in the school library setting and the perception of chatbots there. In addition, 15 librarians (five elementary, five middle, and five high school) were asked to complete a structured questionnaire after using Google's Bard, Microsoft's Bing, and OpenAI's Nova to find out if it is possible to use chatbots in school library education. As a result, user and reading education chatbots were found to be common in school libraries, and 99% of librarians knew about them in some detail. However, the average chatbot performance by area was 2.9 out of 5 (2.6 points being the lowest). Nevertheless, chatbots are being developed utilizing deep learning methodologies and have excellent performance, and are very effective for content-based library education through problem-solving activities.
