Gradual Scene Transition Detection using Summation of Feature Difference Area (특징값 비유사도 영역의 누적 분포를 이용한 점진적 장면전환 검출)

  • 장면전환의 검출은 비디오 브라우징, 검색, 요약 등에 관한 많은 응용에 유용하다. 본 논문에서는 점진적 장면전환 검출을 위해 정의된 N-길이 로컬 윈도우 내에서 비유사도 분포가 갖는 최소값만큼 상승하여 형성되는 분포를 구하고, 분포의 상단이 이루는 비유사도 값을 누적하여 설정된 임계값보다 클 경우 점진적 장면전환으로 판단하는 방법을 제안한다. 장면전환 구간에서 이루는 영역의 누적값은 최소-최대 분포를 이용하여 구할 수 있다. 실험에서 기존의 제안된 방법과 비교를 하였고 그 결과 제안된 방법에서 올바른 장면전환 검출 성능은 낮았으나 잘못 검출되는 장면전환 수는 적은 결과를 보였다. 제안된 방법은 점진적 장면전환 검출을 위한 임계값의 선택이 쉬우며, 장면전환 길이에 크게 의존하지 않는 장점이 있고 수행속도가 높아 실시간으로 처리하는데 적합하다.

Advanced Shot Boundary Detection Algorithm by Gradual Transition (점진적 장면 변화 검출을 위한 개선된 Shot 경계 검출기법)

  • 본 논문에서는 MPEG으로 압축된 영상에 대해서 급격한 장면 변화에 의한 shot 경계(cut)와 점진적 장면 변화에 의한 shot 경계(dissolve)를 검출하여 비디오 shot을 분할하는 기법을 제안한다. 기존의 방법으로 잘 검출하지 못하였던 점진적 장면 변화에 의한 shot의 경계를 검출하기 위한 기법을 제안한다. 먼저 압축영역의 기법 중 DCT DC 값을 비교하는 방법을 이용하여 cut에 의한 shot 경계를 검출한다 그리고 움직임 벡터(MV)의 비를 비교하는 방법을 사용하여 dissolve에 의한 shot 경계의 후보지들을 얻어내고, 선택된 후보지들 중 n번째와 n+2번째 후보지 영상으로 dissolve 영상을 만들어 n+1번째 후보지의 영상과 유사도를 비교하여 dissolve를 검출한다. 이와 같이 압축영역에서 cut에 의한 shot 경계와 dissolve에 의한 shot 경계의 후보지를 검출해 내고, 검출된 shot 경계 후보지들에서 dissolve에 의한 shot 경계를 검출하는 방법을 함으로서 MPEG 비디오 영상의 복원량을 최소화하여 수행 속도를 높이면서도 cut과 dissolve 두 가지 모두를 효과적으로 검출할 수 있었다.

The Effect of Solvent on the $\alpha$-Effect(3): Nucleophilic Substitution Reactions of Aryl Acetates in $MeCN-H_2O$ Mixtures of Varying Compositions

  • Second-order rate constants have been measured spectrophotometrically for the reactions of substituted phenyl acetates with butane-2,3-dione monoximate and p-chlorophenoxide anions in MeCN-H$_2$O mixtures of varying compositions. The reaction rate, unexpectedly, decreased remarkably upon initial additions of MeCN to H$_2$O up to 30-40 mole ${\%}$ MeCN, and followed by a gradual increase upon further additions of MeCN. The change in solvent composition also influenced the magnitude of the ${\alpha}$-effect, i.e., the ${\alpha}$-effect increased as the mole ${\%}$ MeCN increased. The solvent dependent ${\alpha}$-effect for the present system appears to indicate that the differential solvation between the ${\alpha}$-effect nucleophile and the corresponding normal nucleophile is not solely responsible but the difference in the transition-state stabilization is also responsible for the ${\alpha}$ -effect in organic solvent-rich region.

Segmented mandrel tests of as-received and hydrogenated WWER fuel cladding tubes

  • The mechanical interaction between the fuel pellet and the cladding tube of a nuclear fuel rod is a very important for safety studies as this phenomenon could lead to fuel failure and release of radioactivity. To investigate the ductility of cladding tubes used in WWER type nuclear power plants, several mandrel tests were performed in the Centre for Energy Research (EK). This modified mandrel test was used to model the mechanical interaction between the fuel pellet and the cladding using a segmented tool. The tests were conducted at room temperature and at 300 ℃ with inactive as-received and hydrogenated cladding ring samples. The results show a gradual decrease in ductility as the hydrogen content increases, the ductile-brittle transition was seen above 1500 ppm hydrogen absorbed.

A Study on Transition to Retirement of the Middle-Aged in Korea: Focused on the Career Job and the Bridge Job (우리나라 중·고령자의 은퇴 과정에 관한 연구: 생애주된일자리와 가교일자리를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the transition to retirement of the middle-aged in Korea according to the notion of "the career job" and "the bridge job". In order to scrutinize basic elements for the transition, three aspects such as the job history of the middle-aged, the characteristics of the demographic and economic status were investigated through the one to three wave of Korean Retirement and Income Study(KReIS). In addition, the characteristics of the career job and the bridge job were analyzed by both descriptive statistics and the conditional transition probability. Moreover, the influential factors to the job status of the middle-aged were examined by the multi-nominal logistic regression. The results of the study are as followed: first, gradual retirement is increasing in the transition to retirement of the middle-aged in Korea. Over time, the career job is decreasing whilst bridge job is increasing. However, the quality of the bridge job is poorer than the career job in terms of wage, employment status, industry, and occupation. Lastly, the middle-aged who work in the bridge job have vulnerable characteristics, so they work in the bridge job to supplement their economic needs. The results can be influential in the adjustment of the labor policies for the middle-aged in Korea. Moreover, the partial pension system could be a good alternative since the pension system is needed to protect the vulnerable situation of the middle-aged in Korea.

Content based Video Segmentation Algorithm using Comparison of Pattern Similarity (장면의 유사도 패턴 비교를 이용한 내용기반 동영상 분할 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose the comparison method of pattern similarity for video segmentation algorithm. The shot boundary type is categorized as 2 types, abrupt change and gradual change. The representative examples of gradual change are dissolve, fade-in, fade-out or wipe transition. The proposed method consider the problem to detect shot boundary as 2-class problem. We concentrated if the shot boundary event happens or not. It is essential to define similarity between frames for shot boundary detection. We proposed 2 similarity measures, within similarity and between similarity. The within similarity is defined by feature comparison between frames belong to same shot. The between similarity is defined by feature comparison between frames belong to different scene. Finally we calculated the statistical patterns comparison between the within similarity and between similarity. Because this measure is robust to flash light or object movement, our proposed algorithm make contribution towards reducing false positive rate. We employed color histogram and mean of sub-block on frame image as frame feature. We performed the experimental evaluation with video dataset including set of TREC-2001 and TREC-2002. The proposed algorithm shows the performance, 91.84% recall and 86.43% precision in experimental circumstance.

Effect of composition on the structural and thermal properties of TiZrN thin film (TiZrN 박막의 조성이 구조적 특성 및 열적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • The effect of chemical composition on the structural and thermal properties of TiZrN thin films was studied. As the Zr fraction in the deposited TixZr1-xN (x = 0.87, 0.82, 0.7, 0.6, and 0.28) increased, microstructural changes consisted of reduction in the grain size and a gradual transition from columnar structure to granular structure were observed. In addition, it was also confirmed that a gradual crystal phase transition from TiN to TiZrN has occurred as the Zr fraction increased up to 0.4. After heat treatment at 900℃, Ti0.82Zr0.18N and Ti0.7Zr0.3N layers were converted to a form in which rutile phase TiO2 and TiZrO4 oxides coexist, while Ti0.6Zr0.4N layer was converted to TiZrO4 oxide. Among the five compositions of TiZrN films, the Ti0.6Zr0.4N showed the best high temperature stability and produced a significant enhancement in the thermal oxidation resistance of Inconel 617 through suppressing the surface diffusion of Cr caused by thermal oxidation of the Inconel 617 substrate.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide information about kinematic variables of the gliding and delivery motion of Hyung-Keun Lee, a high school shot putter who was ranked 1st at the 2011 National Sports Festivals. Three-Dimensional motion analysis using a system of 4 video cameras at a sampling frequency of 60 Hz was conducted during shot-putting events at the 2011 National Sports Festivals. During the gliding and delivery phase of the player the results showed following characteristics; 1) The gliding technique types of the player appeared to be the short-long technique as the gliding and stance length ratio were $42.3{\pm}3.87$ % and $57.7{\pm}3.87$ %, respectively. In addition, the trajectory of shots during the gliding and delivery phase showed different trajectory patterns with "S-shaped" type of elite players due to the deviation from a central axis of the APSS (athletic-plus shot system). 2) The horizontal velocity of COG made from gliding should maintain the velocity during transition and release phase, but the player showed a small momentum for a gradual decrease of velocity. 3) Therefore, the player requires to adjust an appropriate ratio between gliding and stance length with a strong muscle power at the trunk, throwing arm, and the lower extremity during gliding and delivery phase.

TEM Investigations of Structures and Phase Transitions in Tridymite (투과전자현미경을 이용한 Tridymite의 구조 및 상전이 연구)

  • A new polymorph of tridymite, an incommensurately modulated phase (IC phase), has been identified. While the symmetry of the IC lattice is same as that of the Ll phase, the geometry of the IC lattice structure is same as the basis of the L3 structure with a different modulation (modulation vector q=0.22 $c*_{H}$;$\lambda$ 37 ). On the other hand, the characteristic curved diffuse diffration observed from the Ll atoms could occur even at room phase suggests that the dynamic disordering of atoms, especially oxygen atoms could occur even at room temperature. The phase transition of Ll to L3 by grinding is gradual but very conspicuous: LllongrightarrowL1+IClongrightarrowIC+L3longrightarrowL3. However, it is revealed that real transition processes of individual grains are directly related to the local stress fields and preexisting microstructures.

Education in an Academy of Chinese Medicine L$\"{u}$shantang(侶山堂) and the Qiantang Medical School(錢塘醫派) (중의서원(中醫書院) '여산당(侶山堂)' 강학(講學)과 '전당의파(錢塘醫派)')

  • This study aims to discuss the establishment and development of the Qiantang Medical School(錢塘醫派) represented by Zhang Zhicong(張志聰) via focusing on an academy of Chinese medicine named L$\"{u}$shantang(侶山堂). The teaching method in L$\"{u}$shantang(侶山堂) displays a representative feature of the Qiantang Medical School(錢塘醫派), but the foundation of the method consisting of lectures and discussions had already been laid by Lu Zhiyi(盧之頤) during the Ming-Qing transition period. The tradition was succeeded by Zhong Xuelu(仲學輅) in the Hangyuan Medical Board(杭垣醫局) even after L$\"{u}$shantang(侶山堂) was burnt down during a war taken place under the Qianlong(乾隆) period. That the function and the role of the local Confucian academies, which had been focused on the discussion of Confucian classics and local issues, were changed to adopt the education of medicine which had been treated as a lesser subject may be interpreted as a gradual change in the social perception of medicine. The change in the function of the Confucian academies combined with the tendency in which the literati elites of the period left the Confucian philosophy for medicine presents one of many examples showing the changes occurred during the Ming-Qing transition period. The education of medicine provided by the Confucian academies is regarded historically significant in that it was offered by ordinary civilians rather than the government before the formal school education system was established in the modern period. This educational tradition played an important role in bridging the Chinese medicine in the medieval times with that in the modern period.
