Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of clubhead velocity through regression analysis on the magnitude and time difference of the forward-backward, mediolateral, and vertical ground reaction peak forces generated by force plate during golf swing. Method: 16 subjects (age: 20.5±4.2 yrs, height: 176.0±5.4 cm, weight: 77.8±5.9 kg, handy: 2.4±1.7) who is elite golf player in high school and university, participated in this study. The study method adopted three-dimensional analysis with 8 cameras and ground reaction force measurement with two force plate. The analysis variables were clubhead velocity, and ground reaction analysis variables set four events in each graph based on the peak forces commonly generated in Fx, Fy, and Fz graphs of the ground reaction data during the golf swing. Results: As a result of analyzing the influence of ground reaction magnitude difference on clubhead velocity, the influence on clubhead velocity was ym4, zm1, xm4, zm2. The larger ym4, xm4, zm1, the fasterthe clubhead velocity, but the smallerthe zm2, the faster the clubhead velocity. And in time difference, the influence on the clubhead velocity was in the order of xt4, zt1, zt3. The shorter xt4, zt1, zt3 showed faster clubhead velocity. Conclusion: The leftfoot played a leading role in increasing the velocity of the clubhead. Although the result was caused by the interaction of the right foot and the left foot during the swing, the role of the left foot is relatively large.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to compare differences in muscle activities according to distance changes, and success or failure in relation to approaches during a round of golf in order to obtain basic data on golf swings. Methods : To achieve our research goal, we asked eight professional golfers playing for the Korea Professional Golfers' Association (height: $1.76{\pm}0.05m$, weight: $73.87{\pm}9.21kg$, career duration: $12.87{\pm}4.48yr$) to perform approach swings at distances of 30, 50, and 70 m. Results : No differences were observed in the muscle activity of the extensor carpi radialis that were caused by the distance changes. In addition, we found that the wrist extensors seemed unaffected by the increase in approach distance. Also, we found that the powers of the approach shots were driven by efficient movements rather than by the strength of the arms. We confirmed that when the distance of the approach increased, the golfers should perform their back-swing tops and follow-through right from the right to the left pelvic limb. To achieve successful approach swings despite distance changes, golfers should first work on the activity of the erector spinae to prepare for rotatory power in the P1 section. Moreover, golfers should increase the activity of the erector spinae on the left when they need to deal with the distance improvements in the P2 and P3 sections. Conclusion : In the light of the discussion above, we may infer that despite approach distance changes during a round of golf, ideal swings can be realized by consistent activities of the wrist extensor muscles and improved performances of the pelvic limb muscles. Furthermore, this study suggests that golfers should improve the consistency of muscle activities in all the other body parts to achieve the ideal swing.
The purpose of this study was to investigate joint torques of lower body segments on professional golfers. Three dimensional swing analysis was conducted on the seven subjects. Each subject was asked to swing with 45 inches of Callaway driver, where two force plates (9286AA, Kistler, Switzerland) were built, with his normal speed and tempo. The resultant joint moments of the lower extremities were computed using the kinematic variables of the segments, anthropometric measures and the ground reaction force data by inverse dynamics method. Based on the results of this study, the following conclusions were drawn; It was found that the left ankle joint torque at 3rd phase was increased toward extension on the X-axis and abduction on the Y-axis. The left knee joint torque was alternated from flexion to extension direction in order to lower down the body weight at the beginning of the downswing. The lumbar joint torque was alternated from flexion to extension in order to speed up the upper body rotation which could increase the club head speed ultimately.
The purpose of this study was to examine the major kinematicak variance to Increase the club head velocity during the driver swing two PGA prp-golfers utilizing 3-dimensional Image analyzing linear velocity of the club-head during the impact quantiatively. To achive these purpose, two high speed camera in 120 field/s and one high-speed camera in 500 field/s were used in this study. The program made by Younghoo Kwon(1944) was used to analysis the digitalization of reference point, digitalization of joint venter, synchronization, calculation of 3-Dimensional coordinate by DLT method, and smoothing. Through this study, the conclusions are as follow. 1. During the drivel swing, in the percentile of the total time, two pro-golfer showed 0.925, 0.929 second from adress to top-swing, 0.236, 0.929 second from top-swing to impact. 2. During the driver swing, in the displacement of the center of the body, two pro-golfer showed 45.3, 45.23% from adress, 44.3, 44.24% front impact. 3. In the velocity variance, The maximum club-head velocity two pro-golfer showed 43.36, 43.24m/s respectively the down swing. The ball velocity showed 63.12, 63.06m/s. 4. In the rotational angle of the shoulder joint. two pro-golfer showed $-13.5,-13.53^{\circ}$, during the back swing respectively. Two subject adressed opening status og upper body. 5. In the rotational angle of the right knee angle showed $156.3,154.7^{\circ}$ from the adress.

Clay-shoveler's fractures are rare stress-type avulsion fractures of the spinous processes especially in sports. There have been two case reports that discussed clay-shoveler's fractures in golf. A 36-year-old beginner golfer presented with a pain in the back after practicing golf swing. No fractures were detected using cervical radiography; however, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed T2~T3 spinous process fractures. The patient was treated conservatively and his pain subsided. The mechanism of injury is speculated to that of clay-shoveler's fractures. Therefore, if a golfer suffers persistent pain in the cervicothoracic region, clay-shoveler's fracture is one possibility to consider.
Objective: The aim of this study was to identify the biomechanical determination factor for improving club head speed during the driver swing in male golf players. Method: Twenty-seven golf players were participated in this study. Eight motion capture cameras (250 Hz) and two force plates (2,000 Hz) were used to collect peak angular velocity and ground reaction force data. It was performed stepwise multiple linear regression analysis and alpha set at .05. Results: The peak plantar flexion angular velocity of the left ankle joint and the peak adduction angular velocity of the right shoulder joint were statistically significant. The peak plantar flexion angular velocity of the left ankle joint and the peak adduction angular velocity of the right shoulder during downswing. Conclusion: It is suggested that applying body conditioning training aimed at improving related body functions to increase maximum plantar flexion angular velocity in the left ankle joint will be effective in improving club head speed.
The purpose of this study was to develop an auxiliary device useful for promoting continued participation in the golf among young golfers and female beginner-level golfers who were gradually increasing in number but often losing interest in the golf and gave up playing golf due to difficulty with posture, boredom from golf itself, slow improvement of skill, etc., in the process of learning the golf. For that, a hardware device fitted with various sensors was attached to the lower part of golf club grip to develop a platform capable of collecting and transmitting the data on each golfer's swing posture, driving distance, etc. If a smartphone app, which can analyze and store those data, is developed and synchronized, each golfer's postures can be identified and golfers can correct the posture on their own. Moreover, the smartphone app provides the contents for self-comparison and comparison with others and will be able to infuse the beginner-level golfers with internal motivation for continued participation in the golfing exercise if the game-type elements are added.
This is written to present basic shot information among iron clubs and information of weight shift, because previous study conducted on all clubs was rut enough. This article is about shot analysis of iron club 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and weight movement, conducted on four skilled golf players and four students who major in golf and are less than three years. The analysis of long and short irons showed statistically meaningful different results for all the participants but iron clubs of 3,4,5 didn't in head speed and ball speed. The skilled group showed better results in head speed, ball speed and direction, Launch angle than the unskilled group. In weight shift movement analysis, the unskilled group moved, on back swing top, their more weight(65.36%) but the skilled group was on their left foot (70.21%)when clubs were on impact moment. It shows that the skilled group put on power more efficiently by moving weight.
The purpose of the current study was to research scientific basis and necessity of supplementary materials for field lesson out of golf swing teaching methods. As the subject of study, skillful tour pro golfers were chosen to reinterpret field lesson results for driver swing from the viewpoint of kinematics. In addition, through precise analysis, this study developed a case to verify the validity and error of field lesson. As a result, field lesson showed a slight difference among qualitative evaluation of kinematical analysis of techniques, subjects of study, and items. Accordingly, there was a little difference between two methods in view of evaluation of errors that 5 subjects of the study have shown. However, there was a significant difference in compensation to prevent causes of error and errors. Based on instructor's experience most errors could be evaluated. Therefore, feedback for error correction based on instructor's experience showed a significant difference from qualitative evaluation of kinematical analysis of techniques. In conclusion, the following are required for correct golf swing lesson; instant feedback through field lesson and qualitative evaluation of kinematical analysis of techniques to determine fundamental causes correctly.
