The purpose of this study was to analyze the impact accuracy and kinematic parameters of skill level and eye-tracking type during putting strokes. For comparison, five elite golfers and five novice golfers participated in this study. Three-dimensional kinematic data were collected for each subject while 10 putting trials were performed for each skill level and eye-tracking type. The APAS system was used to compute the impact accuracy and kinematic parameters of putter heads. The putting stroke was divided into three phases: back swing, downswing, and follow-through. The findings indicated that significant differences were found in skill level as it affected the rate of success. For impact accuracy and the displacement of putter heads, a significant difference was found for the skill level, particularly in backs-wing and follow-through. In addition, the displacement of the putter head had a greater influence on stroke accuracy than on velocity.

The purpose of this study was to compare kinematic variables between elite golfer and novice during golf putting. 23 elite golfers and 19 novice were participated, and SAM Putt was used to collect kinematic variables. To identify main effect and interaction effect, it was performed Two-way Mixed ANOVA at a significant level of a .05. Elite and novice group, follow-through was significantly different and indicated main effect between distance and skill level. Impact, backswing, and loft angle were significantly different and showed main effect between skill level. Also, backswing rhythm and impact timing were significantly different and indicated main effect between skill level. Therefore, minimizing the movement of the wrist and keeping the putting strike rhythm may improve the putting ability.

This paper is a study on the development of an app that assists in putting alignment in golf. The proposed app measures the position and size of the hole cup on the green to provide the distance between the hole cup and the aiming point. To achieve this, artificial intelligence object recognition technology was applied in the development process. The app measures the position and size of the hole cup in real-time using object recognition technology on the camera image of the smartphone. The app then displays the distance between the aiming point and the hole cup on the camera image to assist in putting alignment. The proposed app was developed for iOS on the iPhone. Performance testing of the developed app showed that it could sufficiently recognize the hole cup in real-time and accurately display the distance to provide helpful information for putting alignment.
This paper deals with a novel autocalibration method of three-axis micromachined accelerometers applied to a new golf swing diagnosis equipment for golfers. This diagnosis equipment can help golfers monitor and anlalyze their swing posture and therefore modify their swing action to get better score and enjoy their lives through golf. The micromachined accelerometers to get information of the motion are the essential part of the putting club to measure the three-axis acceleration as accurately as possible. This paper presents an efficient autocalibration algorithm to find the offset and sensitivity of accelerometers by only using the static measurement data at six different positions. The experimetnal results on the developed putters show the validity of the proposed algorithm for the new smart putter.
The metal spikes evaluated in this study significantly affected more negative on the turf wear and ball speed of putting green than alternative plastic spikes. 1.The metal spikes caused the most amount of wear compared with plastic spikes, athletic shoes and mountain-climbing shoes. On the other hand, athletic shoes caused the least amount of wear. Plastic spikes caused wear more than athletic shoes, hut apparently wear less than metal spikes. The wear from metal spike repaired later than any other tread types. 2.The wear from all kinds of shoe treads in wetcondition green were higher than in dry-condition green and the wear from metal spikes was more severe compared with plastic spikes in both green condition. 3. Ball speed of heavy compaction area by metal spike was reduced about 9% compared with that of light compaction area, hecause metal spikes made many holes in the putting green surface. On the other hand, plastic spikes did not affect hall speed of heavy and light compaction area in the putting green. Key words: Metal spike, Plastic spike, Wear, Ball speed.

This paper is a study on the development of an artificial intelligence model that recognizes a hole cup on a golf green. A CNN-based object detection algorithm was used to recognize the hole cup on the green. Also, Apple's CreateML was used to create a model of the object detection algorithm. This paper created a JSON file with 120 training images and annotations to meet the needs of CreateML. In addition, for more accurate learning, data amplification algorithm was used for learning data and 288 learning data were used for learning. By changing the Iterations, Batch size, and Grid size required by CreateML, we found parameter values that improve the performance of the model. A prototype app was developed by applying the developed model, and performance was measured on an actual golf course green using the prototype app. As a result of the measurement, it was found that the hole cup was accurately recognized within 10m, which is the typical golfer's putting distance.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the trend of the prize money and the performance factors, based on the data of 1,000 pro golf players provided by KLPGA(Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association) for the past 10 years from 2008 to 2017. First, in terms of the prize money, it increased a lot if we compare the data from 2008 and from 2017. However, it is still disproportionally favorable to the top players and is extremely disadvantageous to the middle-low players. Therefore, it is necessary to considerately care middle-low players. Second, in terms of performance factors, the players' skill has been improved steadily based on all of the factors considered: the scoring average, average putting, the birdie average, par save, par break, and recovery for the past 10 years from 2008 to 2017. Despite the fact that both players' performance and income have increased, it is prominent that the inequality between the players in terms of prize money becomes severe, which should be mitigated by external systematic support to maintain the current level of world-class players of Korea.
Bacterial wilt is a vascular wilt disease caused by Xanthomonas translucens pv. poae that infects Poa annua, a grass that is commonly found on golf course greens throughout the world. Bacterial wilt causes symptoms of etiolation, wilting, and foliar necrosis. The damage is most prevalent during the summer and the pathogen can kill turf under conditions optimal for disease development. Fifteen isolates of X. translucens pv. poae were collected from northern regions in the United States and tested for virulence against P. annua. All 15 isolates were pathogenic on P. annua, but demonstrated variable levels of virulence when inoculated onto P. annua under greenhouse conditions. The isolates were divided into two virulence groups. The first group containing four isolates generally resulted in less than 40% mortality following inoculation. The second group, containing the other eleven isolates, produced between 90 and 100% mortality following inoculation. These results suggest that differences in the virulence of bacterial populations present on a golf course may result in more or less severe amounts of observed disease.

The purpose of this study was to kinematically analyze the differences between short(2.17 m) and long(10.94 m) putting stroke motions. Thirteen male professional golfers were participated in this study. Experiment was conducted on the artificial grass mat in the gymnasium. Kinematic data were collected by the 60 Hz Kwon3D motion analysis system. Differences were compared by SPSS paired t-test and one-way ANOVA. Duncan was used for post-hoc test and a=.05. The results were as follows: 1. Ground projected trajectory of the putter head were statistically straight during both short and long putts. 2. There was no consistent alignment tendency among shoulder, hip, and stance alignments. However stance alignment was consistent between short and long putts. Thus it is assumed that professional golfers align their body based on their stance alignment. 3. During putting, shoulder rotated not only up and down but also right and left. 4. Left and right elbow distance was maintained during all phases of the putts for both short and long putts. 5. Inter foot distance of long putting was longer than that of short putting.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the difference in grip force and angular kinematic variables between elite (handicap${\leq}2$) and novice golfers. Three-dimensional motion analysis system with synchronized grip force measurement system was used. The participants consisted of two groups based on their playing ability: 10 elite golfers and 10 novice golfers. Each subject performed 5 putting strokes at the distance of 1, 3, and 5m with randomly selected order. During entire putting phase, elite group showed relatively constant grip force but novice group showed continuously increasing grip force pattern. There existed a clear difference in the trajectory of shoulder line between two groups. As for novice group the rotational center did not converge into one point, for elite group the rotational center converged into precise single point. And there was a clear difference pattern in anterior-posterior directional movement at shoulder between two groups. These difference might be helpful for improving consistent putting skills.
