Similar services, different perceptions: The gaps of satisfaction based on the level of recreation specialization

  • The golf industry has become the center of attention for recreational activities in the participant sport market; however, there has been little effort made to understand golf consumer and their consumption behavior using the concept of 'recreational specialization' which segments the golfers based on level of specialization in golf. The purpose of this study was to explore the differences in the relationships among perceived service quality, price of playing golf, overall customer satisfaction with the course, and a player's intention to revisit the same golf course based on the magnitude of recreation specialization in golf. Four public and two private golf courses from the southeastern state of the United States were randomly chosen from a list in a golf magazine. The 365 surveys among 417 participants were ultimately analyzed. Multiple group analysis was conducted in order to investigate differences in relationships among service quality, price, customer satisfaction, and revisit intentions between groups based on the level of recreation specialization. The key findings were 1) for more specialized golfers, satisfaction with price did not affect overall customer satisfaction or revisit intention, however, service quality significantly influenced both overall customer satisfaction and revisit intention, 2) for less specialized golfers, satisfaction with price significantly influenced overall customer satisfaction but did not affect revisit intention. Knowledge about which the determinants of satisfaction are different between more and less specialized golfers could provide a better understanding of how different marketing strategies should be implemented for different specialized levels of golfers.

The Mediating Effect of Self-esteem on the Relationship between Middle Aged Golf Participant's Leisure Function and Social Role Loss (중년 골프참여자의 여가기능과 사회적 역할 상실감의 관계에서 자아존중감의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between leisure function, self-esteem and social role loss among golf players in the middle age. Furthermore, it was meaningful to provide basic data on leisure activities and healthy retirement preparation through golf at the present time of the aging society. The subjects of study who adults were recruited from Seoul, Gyeonggi-do. For the data processing, it conducted frequency, reliability, confirmatory factor, correlation, and structure equaling modeling analyses. The results were as follows; First, leisure function of middle age golf participant had a positive influence on self-esteem(p<.05). Second, leisure function of middle age golf participant had a positive influence on social role loss(p<.05). Third, self-esteem of middle age golf participant had a positive influence on social role loss(p<.05). Forth, self-esteem mediated the relationship between middle age golf participant leisure function and social role loss.(p<.05).

The Relationship between Trust, Satisfaction and Perceived Performance of Golf Device Data -Focused on the Golf Swing Analyzer- (골프 디바이스 데이터의 신뢰, 만족 및 인지된 경기력의 관계 -스윙 분석기 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between trust, satisfaction and cognitive performance of golf participants in golf device, focusing on the swing analyzer. A total of 328 questionnaires were collected. Collected data were analyzed by SPSSWIN and AMOS program and frequency analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, validity test, correlation analysis and structural equation model analysis were performed. The result of the study were as follows. First, the trust of golf participants in golf device data has a positive effect on satisfaction. Second, the trust of golf participants in golf device data does not affect Perceived performance. Third, the satisfaction of golf participants in golf device data does not affect Perceived performance. In conclusion, golf participants' trust and satisfaction of the golf swing analyzer are irrelevant to the perceived performance. In conclusion, it was found that golf participants trusted the data presented through the golf device and obtained satisfactory results. However, in that it did not affect the perceived performance, golf participants can think that golf devices should be used to play golf rather than thinking that golf devices enhance their performance.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between golf leader trust, exercise flow and psychological happiness for golf practice users. This study surveyed 256 golfers. The data were used to examine the causal relationship between variables using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. Main findings were as follows: First trust of Instructors had a positive effect on exercise flow. Second, exercise flow had a positive effect on psychological happiness. Third, trust of Instructors had a positive effect on psychological happiness. Fourth, exercise flow mediated the relationship between golf participant trust of Instructors and psychological happiness. If golf participants have higher confidence in their leaders and more commitment to exercise, the quality of life will be higher.

The Relationship among Self-Management, Physical Self-Efficacy and Resilience for Middle Aged Golf Participant (중년 골프 참여자의 자기관리와 신체적 자기 효능감 및 회복탄력성의 관계)

  • This study examined the relationships among self-management, physical self-efficacy, and resilience of middle-aged golf participants in 237 golf range users located in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Daejeon, Daegu, Gangwon, and Gwangju. To achieve this goal, frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equating modeling were conducted using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. The main findings were as follows. First, self-management had a positive effect on the physical self-efficacy. Second, physical self-efficacy had a positive effect on resilience. Third, self-management had a positive effect on resilience. Fourth, physical self-efficacy mediated the relationship between self-management and resilience. Therefore, various methods for increasing the level of self-management and physical self-efficacy for middle age golf participants should be found in multiple perspectives.

To achieve the goal of this study, a total of 250 questionnaires were distributed and 250 copies were collected back. Out of those returned questionnaires, insincerely replied or double-replied questionnaires were excluded and finally 234 questionnaires were analyzed for this study. For analysis of the data, frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equating modeling were conducted using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. Main findings were as follows: First trust of instructors had a positive effect on leisure benefit. Second, leisure benefit had a positive effect on resilience. Third, trust of instructors had a positive effect on resilience. Fourth, leisure benefit mediated the relationship between golf participant trust of instructors and resilience. Therefore, it is necessary to make efforts to make golf participation lead to satisfaction, and in addition, it is necessary to seek various and convenient services so that various benefits can be generated through golf, and even psychological management through careful observation of golf participants. Is judged.

The Relationship among Coach Support, Achievement Goal Orientations and Continuous Participation Intention for Golf Participants (골프참여자의 코치지원과 성취목표성향 및 참여지속의도의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among coach support, achievement goal orientations and continuous participation intention for golf participants. To achieve the goal of this study, a total of 250 questionnaires were distributed and 250 copies were collected back. Out of those returned questionnaires, insincerely replied or double-replied questionnaires were excluded and finally 226 questionnaires were analyzed for this study. For analysis of the data, frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equating modeling were conducted using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. Main findings were as follows: First coach support had a positive effect on achievement goal orientations. Second, achievement goal orientations had a positive effect on continuous participation intention. Third, coach support had a positive effect on continuous participation intention. Fourth, achievement goal orientations mediated the relationship between golf participant coach support and continuous participation intention. If golf participants improve their physical and psychological health effects through golf and achievement goal orientations increase from gaining a sense of accomplishment such as acquiring or improving golf skills, they will be able to lead a better quality of life.

The Relationship among Health Belief, Environmental Concern and Continue Exercise for Golf Participants (골프참여자의 건강신념과 환경관심도 및 운동지속의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among health belief, environmental concern and continue exercise for golf participants. To achieve the goal of this study, a total of 270 questionnaires were distributed and 270 copies were collected back. Out of those returned questionnaires, insincerely replied or double-replied questionnaires were excluded and finally 255 questionnaires were analyzed for this study. For analysis of the data, frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equating modeling were conducted using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. Main findings were as follows: First health belief had a positive effect on environmental concern. Second, environmental concern had a positive effect on continue exercise. Third, health belief had a positive effect on continue exercise. Fourth, environmental concern mediated the relationship between golf participant health belief and continue exercise. If golf participants improve their physical and psychological health effects through golf and environmental concern increase from gaining a sense of accomplishment such as acquiring or improving golf skills, they will be able to lead a better quality of life.

  • This study was conducted with the goal of establishing a foothold for lifelong sports as well as establishing golf as a desirable leisure activity through the analysis of the relationship between golf participants' coach support, resilience and self-rated health. To achieve the goal of this study, a total of 300 questionnaires were distributed and 300 copies were collected back. Out of those returned questionnaires, insincerely replied or double-replied questionnaires were excluded and finally 278 questionnaires were analyzed for this study. For analysis of the data, frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural equating modeling were conducted using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. Main findings were as follows: First coach support had a positive effect on resilience. Second, resilience had a positive effect on self-rated health. Third, coach support had a positive effect on self-rated health. Fourth, resilience mediated the relationship between golf participant coach support and self-rated health. Therefore, golf instructors should achieve specialization and diversification of educational programs through continuous learning about various teaching methods.

Phenomenological analysis of the fun experience of G-Golf Tour players (G투어 참여 골프 선수들의 재미경험에 관한 현상학적 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to phenomenological analyze the fun experience of G-Golf Tour players. A total of 3 male and 3 female professional golfers who are currently participate in G-Golf Tour are selected by snow-ball sampling. Data was collected from interviews and participant observation, With this data, coding was done as first step and group categorization was done as second step in order to achieve the right result from meaningful analyzing. In order to approve the adequate of this study, the peer review was done by one qualitative research specialist and two candidates of Ph.D. The motivation of G-Tour participation, the notification changing of G-Tour, the addiction of G-Tour, the fun factor of G-Tour were drawn as the results, and the media exposure, personal relations, and skill improvement were drawn as the sub-factors of fun experience of G-Tour.
