L2 Learning Motivation in Technology Enhanced Instruction: A Survey from Three Perspectives

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the ways in which CALL apply to enhance the motivational aspects of second language learning. Theories relevant to social, cognitive, and affective foundations of motivation are first reviewed to demonstrate the important role of motivational influences in improving learners' affect and achievements. Then, implications arising from such theories in strengthening the motivational aspects of CALL are explicated in the second part. With the spread of computer technology in language classrooms, the innovative role of CALL in the development and maintenance of intrinsic motivation can be illustrated. Specifically, CALL may provide cognitively supportive instruction geared towards improving students' performance. Also, it has been reported from the affective perspective that CALL can captivate learners' attention, promote their feelings and expectations of success, improve perceptions of control, and increase positive attributions to effort and ability. Finally, from a social learning perspective, CALL may enhance learners' self-efficacy and foster their achievement and positive affect through social interactions, proximal goal-setting, and attributional feedback. In the framework of CALL, students seem to be benefited by the immediacy and authenticity of contact with target languages and cultures made at their choices and decisions.

영유아보건생활 교육프로그램 개발에 관한 연구 (Health Education Program Development for Infants, Toddlers and Preschool Children)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a health education program for child care workers of infants, toddlers and preschoolers to improve their care ability. The program provided child care teachers and children with information on how to take care of their health. Method: This program development was based on a systematic design of instruction by Dick & Carey(1996). The process included a review of literature, setting an instructional goal, getting advice from various experts, designing instruction and instructional medias, designing formative evaluation, revising the program and making a summative evaluations. Result: The products of this program were the 'Teachers Guide Book & CD-ROM.' The guide book included health education programs for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. The infant program included a basic baby care program for teachers. The toddlers and preschoolers program included basic health promotion, dental health, nutrition management, communicable disease prevention, substance abuse prevention and a safety program. Conclusion: These programs provided a systematic content of health education for children and their teachers, and useful data which can be applied to child care centers.

Development of Evaluation Criteria for Forest Education Using the CIPP Model

  • The objective of this study was to develop evaluation criteria for forest education using the Context, Input, Process, and Product (CIPP) model. To this end, we designed a survey based on expert advice and content analysis of previous studies on the CIPP model and forest education. The survey was conducted on 393 forest education specialists, and Cronbach's α coefficient was set as 0.6 or higher to verify reliability and validity, and to determine reliability by factor. Eventually, 52 out of 57 evaluation items were extracted, and the evaluation indexes were selected through factor analysis as follows: four evaluation indexes for the context dimension, namely "Clarity of goal setting," "Developing conditions for education," "Meeting of requirements," and "Institutional drive"; three evaluation indexes for the input dimension, namely "Acquisition of education infrastructure," "Establishment of operational support," and "Adequacy of assigned manpower"; four evaluation indexes for the process dimension, which were "Adequacy of budget allocation," "Expertise of forest education instructors," "Diversity of programs," and "Public-private academic partnership"; and five evaluation indexes for the product dimension, namely "Effectiveness of perception change," "Influence over the society," "Continuity of improvement in evaluation," "Continuity of education," and "Verification of the effects of education."

웹 기반 자기조절학습에서 학습자 만족도 요인 연구 (Study on Key Factors for Student Satisfaction in Web-based Learning)

  • 최근 웹 기반 학습의 장점을 극대화하고 단점을 극복하려는 연구가 많이 진행되고 있다. 하지만 웹 기반 학습의 문제점은 학습자의 중도 탈락률이 높다는 것이다. 교실 환경 수업에서 학습자의 만족도와 학습 유지 간에는 높은 상관관계가 있음이 알려져 있다. 과거 웹 기반 자기조절학습 시스템이 많이 연구되어 있으나 학습자 만족도와의 관계를 깊이 분석한 연구는 미비하다. 본 연구에서는 웹 기반 학습 환경에서 학습자 만족도에 영향을 미치는 자기조절학습 요인들을 도출하고 분석하였다. 웹 기반 자기조절학습 시스템을 학생들에게 적용한 결과 자기평가, 목표설정 및 계획, 정보탐색, 사회적도움, 자료검토이 직접적으로 학습자 만족도에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서 제시한 만족도 요인을 고려하여 학습 시스템을 개발한다면 학습 유지에 도움을 줄 것으로 기대된다.

학습부진 대학생을 위한 예방적 학습컨설팅 프로그램 개발과 효과 (The Development and Effects of a Preventative Learning Consultation Program for University Underachievers)

  • The numbers of learning underachievers in college are gradually increasing. As a result, the need for extracurricular programs to increase learning in college is also growing. The purpose of this study was to analyze factors of learning difficulty and develop a model of learning consulting for college underachievers. This study also aimed to evaluate this model's validity. Using both 56 subscription forms of college underachievers and three sets of focus group interviews at B university, we found that students had difficulties in goal and career setting, management of grades and tests, learning methods, time management, failure overcome ability, lack of learning habit sustaining power and learning motivation, and so on. We developed a model of learning consulting for college underachievers based on these factors and applied the model to evaluate it's validity, testing it on 31 underachievers currently enrolled in college, five times every week. Let we say in conclusion that this model of learning consulting had positive effects on changing college underachiever's character, emotion, motivation, and behavior towards learning.

Analysis of factors affecting career preparation behavior - Based on the recognition of college students -

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the factors influencing career preparation behavior based on the perception of college students from the perspective of social cognitive career theory and to examine the effect of career barriers and career decision self - efficacy on career preparation behavior And career - decision self - efficacy. The results of the study are as follows. First, career barriers perceived by college students showed a significant positive correlation with career decision self - efficacy and career preparation behavior(-), and career decision efficacy showed a statistically significant correlation with career preparation behavior(+). Second, as a result of linear regression analysis to examine the effect of career barriers on career preparation behavior, lack of self - clarification, lack of job information, and lack of recognition of need were subordinate factors of career barriers. Third, as a result of linear regression analysis to examine the effect of career decision - making self - efficacy on career preparation behavior, goal setting and job information, which are sub - factors of career decision self - efficacy, were analyzed. Fourth, mediating effects of career decision self - efficacy on career barriers and career preparation behavior were analyzed by hierarchical regression analysis. The results of this study confirm that the level of career barrier, which is an important factor in career preparation behavior of college students, should be lowered and career decision self - efficacy should be increased.

간호대학생의 셀프리더십과 스트레스 대처능력이 대학생활 적응에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Self-Leadership and Stress Coping on College Life Adjustment in Nursing Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships among self-leadership, stress coping skills, and college life adjustment in nursing students. The data were collected using a self-reported questionnaire from November 4 to November 22. The subjects of the study were 335 nursing students in 1 nursing college located in K city. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, and multiple regression test using the SPSS Win. 18.0 program. The results were as follows: the mean score of self-leadership was 3.38, the mean score of stress coping skills was 3.45, and the mean score of college life adjustment was 3.35. There was a significant difference in college life adjustment according to motivation of entrance. Goal-setting, self-reward, and constructive ideas about the self-leadership and active stress coping skills were influencing factors of college life adjustment. In conclusion, it is necessary to increase the level of self leadership and active stress coping skills in nursing students. The results of this study suggest that it is necessary to develop diverse educational programs that can increase self-leadership and active coping skills.

중국 조선족 한글정보자원 생산과 출판물에 대한 연구 (A Case Study on the HANGEUL Information Resources Produced and Published by Chosun People in China)

  • 정보자원의 생성과 축적은 문자를 통해서 이루어진다. 문자는 과거의 문화를 계승하고 이를 기반으로 한 새로운 문화를 창조하고 확충하는 도구이다. 이러한 연속적인 지적 정보자원의 전달과 이용, 새로운 정보자원의 창조과정 속에서 우리의 민족정보자원을 발굴하고 이를 정리 보존하는 것은 한민족의 문화적 동질성과 정체성을 계승 발전시키는 일이며 민족적 당위성의 표출이다 따라서 이 연구의 목적은 중국 내에 산재한 한민족 정보자원으로서 한글정보자원 생산과 출판현황을 살펴보고 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 조선족 형성과정과 한글, 그리고 민족출판의 생성과 그 현황을 시대별 변천서와 더불어 그 특징을 조사하였다.

점진적 걷기프로그램이 폐절제술 환자의 신체활동량, 운동능력, 회복력 및 합병증 발생에 미치는 효과 (Effects of a Progressive Walking Program on Physical Activity, Exercise Tolerance, Recovery, and Post-Operative Complications in Patients with a Lung Resection)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of a Progressive Walking program (PW) on physical activity, exercise tolerance, recovery, and post-operative complications for patients with a lung resection. Methods: A nonequivalent control group non-synchronized design was utilized and 37 participants with a lung resection (22 for control group, 15 for experimental group) were recruited at A university hospital from December 2012 to August 2013. The PW consisted of preoperative education, goal setting, and feedback, provided to the experimental group, and usual care to the control group. Data were analyzed using the SPSS WIN 18.0. Results: A higher proportion of patients in the experimental group showed adequate levels of physical activity (p=.001), shorter period of chest tube retention (${\leq}7$ days; p=.011), and shorter stay in the hospital (${\leq}10$ days; p=.036) than patients in the control group. Patients in the experimental group reported longer 6-minute walking distance (p=.032) and lower levels of dyspnea (p=.049) than patients in the control group. The PW did not influence the occurrence of pulmonary complications. Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that the PW could be a useful strategy for improving patients' post-operative health and reducing cost after lung resection.

Clozapine과 Risperidone에서 Olanzapine으로 교체 연구 : 12개월 추적연구 (Switch to Olanzapine from Clozapine or Risperidone and 12-months Follow Up)

  • In clinical setting, treatment-refractoriness, medication induced tardive dyskinesia and amenorrhea in chronic schizophrenia are frequently problematic. However, there are few guideline solving these problem available to clinicians. The goal of this study was collecting clinical data on clinical effectiveness and predictors of response of switching to olanzapine. We attempted to switch to olanzapine from risperidone and clozapine in chronic 31(risperidone 17, clozapine 14) schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder patients suffering from sustained symptoms, weekly blood monitoring, medication induced tardive dyskinesia and amenorrhea. Previous antipsychotics dosage was gradually decreased for 2 or 3weeks, at the same time olanzapine dosage was gradually increased. At baseline, after 1 week, after 2 weeks and after 4 weeks we checked Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale, Clinical Global Impression Scale, Sympson-Angus Rating Scale, Barnes Akathisia Rating Scale and followed up after 12 months. Successful switch after 4 weeks was achieved in 25 patients(clozapine 9(64.2%), risperidone 16(94.1%)). Overall, mean BPRS and CGI scores increased significantly. Successful maintenance after 12 months was achieved in 17 patients(clozapine 5(35.7%), risperidone 12(70.5%)). Overall, mean BPRS and CGI scores increased significantly too. Switching to olanzapine from other atypical antipsychotics is recommendable in chronic schizophrenia with treatment refractoriness and drug induced side effect.
