Stress History Evaluation for Truss Bridge with Local Damages by Using Global-Local Model Combination (전체해석과 국부해석 조합법을 이용한 국부결함이 있는 트러스교 응력이력해석)

  • This study predicts the stress history for truss bridge with local damages by using global-local model combination method. For this end, the global structure is modeled by 3D frame elements and the selected local details are modeled by shell elements. Then superposition principle enable the global-local model to be combined interactively. Because the frame model cannot consider the rigidity of gusset plate and the interation of structural members due to the complexity of stress distribution in truss connection. The section modification factors are proposed to calibrate the stiffness of global frame element. The global-local model combination is verified by comparing the numerical results with experimental data obtained from the proof loading test to the operating truss bridge. Furthermore, stress histrories of the truss bridge are generated in the consideration of the rigidity of truss connection with local damage by using the combination method.

Local and Global Isotropy Analysis of Caster Wheeled Omnidirectional Mobile Robot

  • The omnidirectional mobility of a mobile robot may lose significance in motion control, unless the isotropy characteristics of the mechanism is maintained well. This paper investigates the local and global isotropy of an omnidirectional mobile robot with three caster wheels. All possible actuations with different number and combination of rotating and steering joints are considered. First, the kinematic model based on velocity decomposition and the algebraic conditions for the local isotropy are obtained. Second, the geometric conditions for the local isotropy are derived and all isotropic configurations are fully identified. Third, the global isotropy index is examined to determine the optimal parameters in terms of actuation set, characteristic length, and steering link length.

Comparison of Automatic Calibration for a Tank Model with Optimization Methods and Objective Functions

  • Two global optimization methods, the SCE-UA method and the Annealing-simplex (A-S) method for calibrating a daily rainfall-runoff model, a Tank model, was compared with that of the Downhill Simplex method. The performance of the four objective functions, DRMS (daily root mean square), HMLE (heteroscedastic maximum likelihood estimator), ABSERR (mean absolute error), and NS (Nash-Sutcliffe measure), was tested and synthetic data and historical data were used. In synthetic data study. 100% success rates for all objective functions were obtained from the A-S method, and the SCE-UA method was also consistently able to obtain good estimates. The downhill simplex method was unable to escape from local optimum, the worst among the methods, and converged to the true values only when the initial guess was close to the true values. In the historical data study, the A-S method and the SCE-UA method showed consistently good results regardless of objective function. An objective function was developed with combination of DRMS and NS, which putted more weight on the low flows.

  • This research is about global investment for managing the important position, what Korea is doing in World's main market. Considering there are some differences between developed countries' model and developing countries' model in doing direct overseas investment, they target to get political agreement and develop the new invest plan and strategy by understanding changes of Korean manufacturing companies in direct overseas investment between 2001 and 2008 and analyzing the change of yearly investment motivation. The result from this result let us know that company should develop their own idea for their competitive advantage by doing direct overseas investment. And, the overseas investment, which was already done in other countries, 1. Review its realities and tendency in terms of investing countries, industries, and its scale and then Set up an actual model, based on strategic combination of investing location select and determination of Korean manufacturing companies. 2. Analyze how the situational factors have influenced and what factors would be considered for direct overseas investment. From the analyzing result, even though it is fairly true that raising wage and getting resources, and developing alternating industries for export had influenced at the beginning, overseas investing companies' policy will be influenced by the results from studying marketing-pursuit type, local producing and manufacturing by using low-wage people for local sale, and situation for changing investing tendency as service industry.

  • This paper proposes a hybrid searching algorithm based on parameter identification for power system load models. Hybrid searching was performed by the combination of particle swarm optimization (PSO) and a complex method, which enhances the convergence of solutions closer to minima and takes advantage of global searching with PSO. In this paper, the load model of interest is composed of a ZIP model and a third-order model for induction motors for stability analysis, and parameter sets are obtained that best-fit the output measurement data using the hybrid search. The origin of the hybrid method is to further apply the complex method as a local search for finding better solutions using the selected particles from the performed PSO procedure.

Integrated Color Matching in Stereoscopic Image by Combining Local and Global Color Compensation (지역과 전역적인 색보정을 결합한 스테레오 영상에서의 색 일치)

  • Color consistency in stereoscopic contents is important for 3D display systems. Even with a stereo camera of the same model and with the same hardware settings, complex color discrepancies occur when acquiring high quality stereo images. In this paper, we propose an integrated color matching method that use cumulative histogram in global matching and estimated 3D-distance for the stage of local matching. The distance between the current pixel and the target local region is computed using depth information and the spatial distance in the 2D image plane. The 3D-distance is then used to determine the similarity between the current pixel and the target local region. The overall algorithm is described as follow; First, the cumulative histogram matching is introduced for reducing global color discrepancies. Then, the proposed local color matching is established for reducing local discrepancies. Finally, a weight-based combination of global and local matching is computed. Experimental results show the proposed algorithm has improved global and local error correction performance for stereoscopic contents with respect to other approaches.

  • A malicious Uniform Resource Locator (URL) recognition and detection method based on the combination of Attention mechanism with Convolutional Neural Network and Long Short-Term Memory Network (Attention-Based CNN-LSTM), is proposed. Firstly, the WHOIS check method is used to extract and filter features, including the URL texture information, the URL string statistical information of attributes and the WHOIS information, and the features are subsequently encoded and pre-processed followed by inputting them to the constructed Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) convolution layer to extract local features. Secondly, in accordance with the weights from the Attention mechanism, the generated local features are input into the Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM) model, and subsequently pooled to calculate the global features of the URLs. Finally, the URLs are detected and classified by the SoftMax function using global features. The results demonstrate that compared with the existing methods, the Attention-based CNN-LSTM mechanism has higher accuracy for malicious URL detection.

  • Much research efforts are being exerted for the study of intrusion detection system(IDS). However little work has been for the communication medels and performance eveluation of the IDS. Here we present a communication framework for doing hybrid intrusion detection in which agents are used for local intrusion detections with a centralized data anaysis componenta for a global intrusion detection at multiple domains environment. We also assume the combination of host-based and network-based intrusion detection systems in the oberall framework. From the local domain, a set of information such as alert, and / or log data are reported to the upper level. At the root of the hierarchy, there is a global manager where data coalescing is performed. The global manager delivers a security policy to its lower levels as the result of aggregation and correlation of intrusion detection alerts. In this paper, we model the communication mechanisms for the hybrid IDS and develop a simular using OPNET modeller for the performance evaluation of transmission capabillities for the delivery of data and policy. We present and compare simulation results based on several scenarios focuding on communication delay.

Set up an actual model, based on strategic combination of investing location select and determination of Korean manufacturing companies and yearly investing factor-effect analysis. 3. Analyze how the situational factors have influenced and what factors would be considered for direct overseas investment. From the analyzing result, even though it is fairly true that raising wage and getting resources, avoiding customs, and developing alternating industries for export had influenced at the beginning, overseas investing companies' policy will be influenced by the results from studying marketing-pursuit type, which emphasizes to manage trade income and outgo, keeping the balance in the black, ensuring raw materials, local producing and manufacturing by using low-wage people for local sale, and situation for changing investing tendency as service industry.

On the use of numerical models for validation of high frequency based damage detection methodologies

  • This article identifies and addresses current limitations on the use of numerical models for validation and/or calibration of damage detection methodologies that are based on the analysis of the high frequency response of the structure to identify the occurrence of abrupt anomalies. Distributed-plasticity non-linear fiber-based models in combination with experimental data from a full-scale reinforced concrete column test are used to point out current modeling techniques limitations. It was found that the numerical model was capable of reproducing the global and local response of the structure at a wide range of inelastic demands, including the occurrences of rebar ruptures. However, when abrupt sudden damage occurs, like rebar fracture, a high frequency pulse is detected in the accelerations recorded in the structure that the numerical model is incapable of reproducing. Since the occurrence of such pulse is fundamental on the detection of damage, it is proposed to add this effect to the simulated response before it is used for validation purposes.
