The ITO/Cabon Nano Tube (CNT) nano composites were deposited by nano cluster deposition (ITO) and arc discharge deposition (CNT) on glass substrates. The structural, optical and photovoltaic performance of ITO/CNT nano composites as a counter electrode of dye-sensitized solar-cells (DSSCs) such films were investigated. At low temperature below $250^{\circ}C$, the ITO films deposited on CNT. The ITO/CNT nano composit showed a good optical and electrical property for the counter electrode of DSSCs. When the as-prepared ITO/CNT nano composites are used for the counter electrodes, the photovoltaic parameters are $V_{OC}$ = 0.69 V, $J_{SC}$ = 5.69 mA/$cm^2$, FF = 0.32, and $\eta$ = 0.53 %. The ITO/CNT nano composites showed the possibility for the counter electrode applications of DSSCs.

This paper proposes the solutions predicting the coefficient of the thermal expansion changes of composites which include the fiber-like shaped ($a_1$ > ($a_2$ = ($a_3$) and the disk-like shaped (al = a2> a3) inclusions like two dimensional geometries, which has one aspect ratios, ${\alpha}$ = ($a_1$ /($a_3$). The analysis follows the procedure developed for elastic moduli by using the generalized approach of Eshelby’s equivalent tensor. The influences of the aspect ratios, on the effective coefficient of thermal expansion of composites containing aligned isotropic inclusions are examined. This model should be limited to analyze the composites with unidirectionally aligned inclusions and with complete binding to each other of both matrix and inclusions having homogeneous properties. The coefficient of thermal expansion of composites (${\theta}_{11}$,${\theta}_{22}$and ${\theta}_{33}$) are investigated. From material data of the composites with glass fiber in epoxy resin, the thermal expansions along the aspect ratio were obtained and similar to the Chow model. The longitudinal coefficients of thermal expansion ${\theta}_{11}$decrease, as the aspect ratios increase. However, the transverse coefficients of thermal expansion ${\theta}_{22}$increase or decrease, as the aspect ratios increase. And both of them decrease, as the concentration increases.

Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) was filled with glass fiber (GF), aramid fiber (AF), and solid lubricants to improve the mechanical properties and wear resistance. The addition of GF effectively enhanced the tensile strength, flexural modulus, and impact strength of PPS, while solid lubricants such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), molybdenum disulfide ($MoS_2$), and tungsten disulfide ($WS_2$) lowered the friction coefficients of the composites to below 0.3. The ball nut and motor pulley of the electric power steering (EPS) were manufactured using the PPS composites, and feasibility was ascertained thereafter by conducting the durability test. The composites filled with GF and AF showed high mechanical strength, but slip occurred at the interface between the pulley and belt while testing above $50^{\circ}C$. When small amounts of lubricants were added, the slip was no longer detected because of the suppression of friction heat. It is realized that the low friction as well as high mechanical properties is important to ensure the reliability of plastic pulleys.
The results of an experimental study on the manufacture and the mechanical properties of fiber reinforced fly ash$\cdot$lime$\cdot$gypsum composites are presented in this paper. 'The composites using fly ash, lime, and gypsum were prepared with various fibers (PAN-derived and Pitch-derived carbon fiber, alkali-resistance glass fiber) and a small amount of polymer emulsion-styrene butadiene rubber latex (SBR). As the test results show, the manufacturing process technology of fly ash$\cdot$lime$\cdot$gypsum composites was developed and its optimum mix proportions were successfully proposed. And the flexural strength and toughness of fiber reinforced fly ash$\cdot$lime $\cdot$gypsum composites were increased remarkably by fiber contents, but the compressive strength of the composites were influenced by the kinds fiber more than by the fiber contents. Also, the addition of a polymer emulsion to the composites decreased the bulk specific gravity, but the compressive and flexural strength, and the toughness of the composites were not influenced by it, but were considerably improved by increasing fiber contents.
Current composites are made with dimethacrylate monomers and silane-treated silica microfillers, either alone or with silane treated glass fillers The main reasons for clinical failure of dental composites are secondary caries, wear and fracture. Most of practitioner want to get a composite which is more tougher under occlusal stress, less polymerization contraction, and better handling properties in application clinically. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of resin matrix with various flows on the physical proper-ties such as fracture toughness and degree of conversion of the experimental resins. It was hypothesized that flexible or tough resin composites can be designed by judicious choice of monomer composition Various flow resin matrices containing Bis-GMA, UDMA, and TEG-DMA were made by altering the pro-portion of the monomers. After the unfilled resins were light-cured for different light intensity, the fracture toughness(K$_{1c}$) was measured according to ASTM standard using the single edge notched geometry, and degree of conversion(DC) was measured by FTIR. And experimental composites were formulated with variations in the proportion of silanated quartz and strontium glass fillers as 60, 75, and 77wt%. Also, the physical properties of composites with various filer contents were evaluated as same manner. All resulting data were compared by ANOVA/Tukeys test at 0.05 level. The results were as follows; 1. The degree of conversion of high flow resin containing less Bis-GMA was higher than that of low flow unfilled resin 2. While the degree of conversion of unfilled resin was increased according to light intensity for polymerization, there was no significant increase with moderate and high light intensity. Also, the fracture toughness was not increased by high light intensity. 3. The fracture toughness was high in the low flow unfilled resin containing higher contents of Bis-GMA. 4. There was a significant increase for fracture toughness and a tendency for degree of conversion to be reduced when the content of fillers was increased. 5. In the experimental composites, the flow of resin matrix did not affected on the fracture toughness, even, which was decreased as increase of viscosity. These results showed that the physical properties of a dental composite could be attributed to the flow of resin matrix with relative content of monomers. Specific combination of resin monomers should be designed to fulfil the needs of specific indication for use.

Environmental problems due to waste tire and waste plastics let us develop practical and economically feasible products. For this purpose, the characteristics of waste tire/plastic composites including various additives were examined using internal mixer. Experimental results indicated that the tensile strength and the flexural strength of waste tire/plastic composites decreased with the waste tire content. When 20 wt% of PP was added to the waste tire (60 wt%)/HDPE composites, the tensile strength was 1.5 times higher than the composite without PP, It was also found that the strain at break of composites increased by 2.5 times with 10 wt% addition of ethylene vinyl acetate and styrene ethylene butylenes styrene respectively. When 10 wt% of glass fiber was added to waste tire (60 wt%)/ HDPE composites, the tensile strength was 63% higher than the composite without glass fiber.

The fatigue characteristics of glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) composites were studied under repeated loads using the finite element method (FEM). To realize the material characteristics of GFRP composites, Digimat, a mean-field homogenization tool, was employed. Additionally, the micro-structures and material models of GFRP composites were defined with it to predict the fatigue behavior of composites more realistically. Specifically, the fatigue characteristics of polybutylene terephthalate with short fiber fractions of 30wt% were investigated with respect to fiber orientation, stress ratio, and thickness. The injection analysis was conducted using Moldflow software to obtain the information on fiber orientations. It was mapped over FEM concerned with fatigue specimens. LS-DYNA, a typical finite element commercial software, was used in the coupled analysis of Digimat to calculate the stress amplitude of composites. FEMFAT software consisting of various numerical material models was used to predict the fatigue life. The results of coupled analysis of linear and nonlinear material models of Digimat were analyzed to identify the fatigue characteristics of GFRP composites using FEMFAT. Neuber's rule was applied to the linear material model to analyze the fatigue behavior in LCF regimen. Additionally, to evaluate the morphological and mechanical structure of GFRP composites, the coupled and fatigue analysis were conducted in terms of thickness.

In recent years, the use of natural fiber as reinforcement in polymer composites to replace synthetic fiber such as glass fiber is receiving increasing attention. Because of increasing usage according to the high demand, the cost of thermoplastic has increased rapidly over the past decades. We used a thermoplastic polymer(polypropylene) as the matrix and a lignocellulosic material(rice-husk flour) as the reinforcement filler to prepare a particle-reinforced composite to examine the possibility of using lignocellulosic material as reinforcement filler and to determine data of test results for physical, mechanical and morphological properties of the composite according to the reinforcement filler content in respect to thermoplastic polymer, In this study, PLA/PP rice-husk fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites that made by the hot press molding method according to appropriate manufacturing process was evaluated as mechanical properties.

In this study, efforts were made to understand the propagation of electromagnetic wave through the foam core sandwich structure by the analytical model. Foam core sandwich structure is composed of glass/epoxy composite skins and foam core. Transmittance and reflectance of the arbitrary linearly polarized incident TEM waves through the unidirectional composites, foam and foam core sandwich structures were determined as functions of thickness, fiber orientation of composites, incident angle and polarization angle by the analytical model. From the results of the analysis, the general tendency of transmittance and reflectance of electromagnetic wave through composites, foam and foam core sandwich structures was obtained.

The stiffness model has been proposed to predict elastic constants of twisted yarn composites. The model is based upon the unit cell structure, the coordinate transformation, and the volume averaging of compliance constants for constituent materials. For the correlation of analytic results with experiments, composite samples of various yarn twist angle were tested. The samples were fabricated by the RTM process using glass yarns and epoxy resin. The correlations of elastic constants showed relatively good agreements. The model provides the predictions of the three-dimensional engineering constants, which are valuable input data for the analytic characterization of textile composites made of twisted yarn.
