5-methylthioninhydrin (5-MTN) is an amino acid sensitive reagent used for the development of latent fingermarks deposited on porous surfaces such as paper and wood. The present study demonstrates that the 5-MTN can be used as a latent footwear impression enhancement reagent, by reacting with trace multivalent metal ions, which are the main components of the latent footwear impression. 5-MTN and L-alanine complex (MTN-ALA) used for the latent footwear impression development was prepared, by mixing $4.5{\times}10^{-3}M$ 5-MTN (in methanol) and $4.5{\times}10^{-3}M$ L-alanine (in methanol) in 1:1 ratio, and keeping undisturbed at room temperature for 24 h. The latent footwear impressions were deposited on white and black non-porous surfaces (glass plate, polyethylene panel, polypropylene panel, acryl panel, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) panel, poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) panel, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) panel, tile), and a semi-porous surfaces (painted wood). The latent footwear impressions on these surfaces were treated with MTN-ALA complex by spraying. The fluorescence of footwear impressions (occurred due to the reaction between MTN-ALA and metal complexes) was observed under a 505 nm forensic light source and an orange barrier filter. The enhancement of latent footwear impression was achieved from black surfaces without any blurring. However, the fluorescence (enhancement) of footwear impression was not observed on the white PVC, PMMA, and ABS surfaces, because the incident light interfered and reflected on the surface. The sensitivity of MTN-ALA was superior to 2,2'-dipyridil, which is a representative non-fluorescing footwear impression enhancement reagent, and similar to 8-hydroxyquinoline, which is a representative fluorescing footwear impression enhancement reagent.

Cylindrical type ceramic filers, that is 60 O.D$\times$10t$\times$600L and 60 O.D$\times$10t$\times$1,000L were manufactured by vacuum forming processes using ceramic ray materials. For cylindrical type ceramic filters, porosity and bulk density were measured for, 80 to 90% and 0.3 to 0.4 g/㎤, respectively at uniform pore size of 41 to 45${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Bench scale candle filters (60$\psi$$\times$10t$\times$600L) were tested using different dusts collected from many industries including chemical processing, glass processing and metal manufacturing pants. Collection efficiencies found out to range from 99.87% to 99.90%, while resistance coefficients from 1.1$\times$10(sup)11/$m^2$ to 1.7$\times$10(sup)11/$m^2$ . Full scale low density ceramic filters (60$\psi$$\times$10t$\times$1,000L) were also tested at 1 atm, $600^{\circ}C$ to reveal the filtration efficiency, conditioning, and resistance coefficients using two different types of dust as chemical processing and metal refined processing. Darcys law resistance coefficients were measured to range 1.44$\times$10(sup)11/$m^2$ to 2.74$\times$10(sup)11/$m^2$, and collection efficiencies on the range 99.84 to 99.96%, Finally, results of long term performance test showed that filters were conditioned after 170hrs. Experimental conditions for effective filtration were examined under the condition 10 cm/sec face velocity, 3kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ pulsing pressure, 5 min filtration cycle, and 300msec pulse opening time.

In this research, the indium dissolution properties of the waste LCD panel powders were investigated as a function of milling time fabricated by high-energy ball milling (HEBM) process. The particle morphology of waste LCD panel powders changed from sharp and irregular shape of initial cullet to spherical shape with an increase in milling time. The particle size quickly decreased to 15 ${\mu}m$ until the first minute, then decreased gradually about 6 ${\mu}m$ with presence of agglomerated particles after 5 minutes, which increased gradually reaching a uniform size of 13 ${\mu}m$ consist of agglomerated particles after 30 minutes. The glass recovery, after dissolution, was over 99% at initial cullet, which decreased to 90.1 and 78.6% with increasing milling time of 1 and 30 minute respectively, due to a loss in remaining powder of the surface ball and jar, as well as the filter paper. The dissolution amount of indium out of the initial cullet was 208 ppm before milling, turning into 223 ppm for the mechanically milled powder after 1 minute, and nearly 146~125 ppm with further increase in milling time because of the reaction surface decrease of powders due to agglomeration. With this process, maximum dissolving indium amount (223 ppm) could be achieved at a particle size of 15 ${\mu}m$ with 1 minute of milling.

The main purpose of this study was to investigate air quality trends of ambient aerosol with obtaining size-fractionated information. The suspended particulate matters were continuously collected on membrane filters and glass fiber filters by an 8-stage cascade impactor for 2 years (Sep. 2005 $\sim$ Sep. 2007) in Kyung Hee University-Global Campus. 8 ionic species ($Na^+$, ${NH_4}^+$, $K^+$, $Mg^{2+}$, $Ca^{2+}$, $Cl^-$, ${NO_3}^-$, and ${SO_4}^{2-}$) were analyzed by an IC after performing proper pretreatments of each sample filter. The average concentration levels of each ion were $9.24{\mu}g/m^3$ of ${SO_4}^{2-}$, $7.35{\mu}g/m^3$ of ${NO_3}^-$, $2.81{\mu}g/m^3$ of ${NH_4}^+$, $2.11{\mu}g/m^3$ of $Ca^{2+}$, $1.65{\mu}g/m^3$ of $Cl^-$, $1.87{\mu}g/m^3$ of $Na^+$, $0.80{\mu}g/m^3$ of $Mg^{2+}$, and $0.54{\mu}g/m^3$ of $K^+$, respectively. The distribution pattern of $Na^+$, $Mg^{2+}$, $Ca^{2+}$, $Cl^-$, and ${NO_3}^-$ was bi-modal and two peaks appeared in the range of $0.4{\sim}0.7{\mu}m$ and $3.3{\sim}4.7{\mu}m$, respectively. On the other hand, ${SO_4}^{2-}$, ${NH_4}^+$, and $K^+$ showed patterns of uni-modal distribution, mostly abounded in the fine mode group.
Recently, for the purpose of constructing artificial ecosystem, the public aquarium and experimental mesocosm systems are receiving attention. To design and establish an aquarium and mesocosm system, there is need of several materials for simulating the environment, such as sediments, rocks, and plants. Expecially for sessile mollusks, there must be proper materials to which sessile invertebrates can adhere. Nowadays, many aquariums and mesocosm systems are using dead coral skeletons for sessile mollusks. This study was proceeded to have data on the effect of dead coral skeletons on water qualities with the experiment on the environmental factors. For this purpose, I made glass tank for experiment, chose two types of dead coral skeletons imported from the Indonesia and observed the change of water qualities and decomposition efficiency of TAN (total ammonia-nitrogen), nitrite ($NO_2{^-}$) and nitrate ($NO_3{^-}$). As a result, the lager the surface area was, the more TAN, nitrite and nitrate decomposition rate increased. In addition, coral skeletons covered with crustose algae and bacteria in the tank showed faster TAN, nitrite and nitrate removal rate and stabilization. Accordingly, this experiment suggested that dead coral skeletons could be used as a sub filter for the closed system as well as an adhering plate.

Objectives: This study was conducted in order to evaluate personal and area exposure to airborne total dust and endotoxin during harvest and planting tasks at cucumber, yellow melon and potato farms Materials and Methods: Total dust was measured with NIOSH method 0500. Endotoxin were measured using a 37 mm glass fiber filter which was connected to an air pump calibrated to 2 LPM, and then analyzed with a Turbidmetric kinetic method. Results: The average(arithmetic mean) concentrations of total dust in the personal samples were $0.10-3.81mg/m^3$ for cucumbers, $0.21-1.19mg/m^3$ for yellow melon, and $0.08-2.72mg/m^3$ for potato. There was a significant difference in the harvest task among the three farm types(p=0.019 of personal sample, p=0.048 of area sample), in which the air concentration for potatoes was higher than with cucumbers and yellow melons. Conclusions: It was found that potatoes(planting and harvest) should be considered the first priority for studying and reducing total dust exposure.

The organic light emitting diode (OLED) is proposed as the novel source in the microchip because it has ideal merits (various wavelengths, thin-film structure and overall emitting) for the integration. In this paper, we fabricated the finger-type pin photodiodes for fluorescence detection and the advanced microchip with OLED integrated pn the microchannel. The finger-type in the diode design extended the depletion region and reduced the internal resistance about 31.2% than rectangular-type. The photodiodes had a 100pA leakage current and a 8720 sensitivity $(I_{Light}/I_{Dark})$ at -1 V bias. The interference filter with 32 layers ($SiO_2$, $TiO_2$) was directly deposited on the photodiode. The OLED was fabricated on the ITO coated glass and was bonded with LOC. The application of thin-film OLED increased the excitation efficiency and simplified the integration process extremely. The prototype device of this application had a superior sensitivity of 100nM-LOD in the fluorescence detection.
Barium nitrate and yittrium nitrate were dissolved into distilled water. Titaium hydroxide precipitated from titanium chloride with NH4OH was dissolved into nitric acid. Each aqueous solution was mixed for 12 hr in the composition of Ba1-xYxTiO3 (x=0.1∼0.6) and the concentration of mixed solution was 0.1 mol/ι. The mixed solution was sprayed with an ultrasonic atomizer and carried into an electric furnace which was kept at 900∼1000$^{\circ}C$ and pyrolyzed. Pyrolyzed powders were collected on the glass filter with vacuum pump. Aqueous Mn solutiion was added into the synthesized powders, mixed with ultrasonic vibration and sintered at 1300∼1400$^{\circ}C$. Synthesized powders were characterized with SEM, XRD, DT-TGA, and BET. Microsture and resistivity of sintered body were investigated with SEM and multimeter. The results of this experiment were as follows; 1) Yittrium dooped BaTiO3 powders were synthesized above 950$^{\circ}C$. 2) The average particle sizes of powders from BET specific surface area and SEM were 0.045$\mu\textrm{m}$, 0.046$\mu\textrm{m}$ respectively. The particle size distribution was narrow in the range of 0.1∼1.0$\mu\textrm{m}$ from SEM. 3) Room temperature resistivity and pmax/pmin of 0.4 mol% Y doped specimen which was sintered at 1375$^{\circ}C$ were 102∼3 (Ω$.$cm) and 102∼3 respectively. 4) Room temperature resistivity and pmax/pmin of 0.4 mol% Y and 0.04 at% Mn added specimen which was sintered at 1375$^{\circ}C$ were 102∼3 (Ω$.$cm) and 106∼7 respectively. 5) Grain growth was inhibited with addition of Y2O3 and enhanced in addition of Mn by 0.05 atm%.

To utilize diffuse sampling of formaldehyde in air, a new sampler was designed. A glass fiber filter was impegnated with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine(DNP) and phosphoric acid and mounted 37mm cassette. The formaldehyde vapor was sampled in the dynamic chamber and measured by high performance liquid chromatograph and compared with solid sorbent tube. The results were as follows ; 1. The desorption efficiencies of diffusive sampler between 97.0% and 100%. 2. the sampling rate is constant as in $58{\sim}61.8m{\ell}/min$ when sampling times are between 120 and 360 min. 3. There was a significant relationship between concentrations of diffusive samples and active samples with the coefficient of determination(R2) of 0.92. 4. Desorbed amount of formaldehyde diffusive sampler was increased by high relative humidity. 5. Wheth diffusive samplers were stored at room temperature or at refrigerator there was no statistically significant difference in the accuracy of result. 6. When the diffusive samplers, which collected formaldehyde vapor, were exposed to clean air for three hours, there was no significant loss of formaldehyde due to reverse diffusion. In conclusion, this study suggest that developed diffusive samplers will be a reasonable substitute for the solid sorbent tube for sampling formaldehyde and practical comparative study of developed diffusive sampler should be performed at workplaces of manufacturing industry.
Granular media filtration is used almost universally as the last particle removal process in conventional water treatment plants. Therefore, superb particle removal efficiency is needed during this process to ensure a high quality of drinking water. However, every particle can not be removed during granular media filtration. Besides the pattern of particle attachment is different depending on physicochemical aspects of particles and suspension. Filtration experiments were performed in a laboratory-scale filter using spherical glass beads with a diameter of 0.55 mm as collectors. A single type of particle suspension (Min-U-Sil 5) and alum coagulation was used to destabilize particles. The operating conditions were similar to those of standard media filtration practice: a filtration velocity of 5 m/h. More favorable particles, i.e., particles with smaller surface charge, were well attached to the collectors especially during the early stage of filtration when zeta potential of particles and collectors are both negative. This selective attachment of the lower charged particles caused the zeta potential distribution (ZPD) of the effluent to move to a more negative range. On the other hand, the ZPDs of the effluent moved from more positive to less positive when the surface charge of particles was positive and this result was thought to be caused by ion transfer between particles and collectors.
