글래스 천이 공정에 의해 저온소결된 PZTN (PZTN Sintered at the Low Temperature by the Glass Phase Transient Processing)

  • This research was a fundamental study for the low temperature sintering of PZTN by glass phase transient processing. To lower the sintering temperature, the glass phase Processing was used. Also to improve the electrical properties, the transient processing was utilized. After characterization, the various analytic techniques, such as Archimedes method for the measuring densification, x-ray diffraction patterns for the quantitative analysis of crystalline phases were utilized. Also the dielectric constant, dissipation factor, and piezoelectric coefficients were measured to evaluate the PZTN sintered at the $950^{\circ}C$ and $1050^{\circ}C$. This was confirmed that the sintering temperature of PZTN was reduced by $950^{\circ}C$ and the electrical properties were improved by the transition processing. Therefore, the glass phase transient processing can be applicable to low the sintering temperature with the dielectric and piezoelectric properties.

  • For substrate glass applied to PDP (Plasma Display Panel), it has been developed many glass compositions that have to not only meet the specifications of PDP but also satisfy the float process as production technology. In the present work several compositions with no deformation at PDP processing temperature and thermal expansion coefficient of $83{\sim}9{\times}10^{-7}/K$ were designed. Based on viscosity at high temperature and liquidus temperature for those compositions, three candidate compositions named T-2, T-4, T-6 were selected finally. It was examined additionally that thermal shrinkage at PDP processing temperature and visible transmittance. The properties of T-series were compared with those of commercial glasses and discussed from the view point of PDP device and glass production.

  • Feasibility of BaO-ZnO-$B_2O_3$ (BZB) based glass system in the light of dielectric and thermal expansion properties are reported in the literature. Effects of addition of various types of ceramic fillers to the BZB-based glass on the thermochemical stability and mechanical properties were investigated in the present work. The studied filler-glass system demonstrated a capability to host various types of ceramic fillers to form thermochemically stable microcomposites at the processing temperature suitable for PDP systems. At the same time, mechanical strength of the filler-glass composites was much improved as compared to the glass itself These observations brighten the feasibility of the Pb-free BZB-based glass system as a host to employ various types of crystalline ceramic fillers so that it can be applied to barrier rib material in plasma display panels.

Effect of SiO2/B2O3 ratio on Li ion conductivity of a Li2O-B2O3-SiO2 glass electrolyte

  • A lithium ion conducting borosilicate glass was fabricated by a conventional melt quenching technique from a mixture of Li2CO3, B2O3 and SiO2 powders. The Li ion conductivity of the lithium borosilicate glasses was evaluated in terms of the SiO2/B2O3 ratio. In the Li2O-B2O3-SiO2 ternary glass, the glass forming region decreases with an increasing Li2O content. At the same Li2O, the crystallization tendency of the glass samples increases with the SiO2/B2O3 ratio, resulting in a reduced glass forming region in the Li2O-B2O3-SiO2 ternary glass. The electrical conductivity moderately depends on the SiO2/B2O3 ratio in the Li2O-B2O3-SiO2 ternary glass. The conductivity of the glasses slightly increases with the SiO2/B2O3 ratio. The observed phenomenon can be explained by the modification of the glass structure as a function of the SiO2 content.

비수계 테잎성형공정의 유기공정변수의 변화에 따른 티탄산바륨-붕규산염유리계 현탁액의 분산안정성 (Effect of Organic Processing Parameters in Non-aqueous Tape-casting on Dispersion Stability of Barium Titanate-Borosilicate Glass Based Suspensions)

  • The effect of organic processing parameters on the dispersion stability of the BaTiO$_3$-based dielectric particles and borosilicate glass particulate suspensions was investigated in a system where organic solvents, dispersant, binder and modifier were used as processing additives in a low temperature cofired ceramic fabrication processes. Two- and three-component organic solvents were used to disperse ceramic particles and it was found the better stability in the particulate suspension prepared in a bi-solvent, which was consists of toluene and ethanol in a non-azeotropic composition. The addition amount of organic additives had a great impact on dispersion in the present investigation. The flow curves of the suspensions prepared with binder and modifier were fitted according to the power-law equation, which indicates that the internal structure of the suspension could be disturbed under the applied shear stress. Finally, the LTCC green tapes were successfully tape-cast based upon the optimum formulation of LTCC suspension and its microstructure was compared with that of the hard-agglomerates.

  • 후막 광식각 기술을 이용하여 형성된 Ag 전극과 LTCC 기판 사이의 접착력을 향상시키기 위하여 무기 바인더로서 anorthite, diopside 및 MLS-62 glass frit을 첨가하여 감광성 Ag paste를 제조하였다. 소성 후의 glass pool effect를 감소시키기 위해 attrition mill을 통하여 미세 glass 분말을 준비하였다. Glass frit은 Ag powder의 5vol%~25vol%의 함량으로 첨가하여 감광성 Ag paste를 제조하였고 패턴 형성 후 $850^{\circ}C$에서 1시간 소결하였다. 전극과 기판 사이의 접착력은 micro-ball shear test 법으로 측정하였으며, Ag 전극 부착력은 glass frit의 함량 증가에 따라 증가하다가 감소하는 경향을 보이는데, 이는 과량의 glass frit 첨가로 인한 전극 내부에 액상 풀의 형성에 기인한 것으로 보여진다. Ag 전극의 면저항은 glass frit의 함량이 증가함에 따라 $0.13m{\Omega}{/\square}$에서 $2.06m{\Omega}{/\square}$까지 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 소성 전후의 전극 패턴의-수축율은 $100{\mu}m$의 선폭을 기준으로 glass frit의 첨가랑이 증가할수록 43.3%에서 35.0%로 감소하였으며, 그 결과 최소 선폭 $25{\mu}m$의 미세 전극 패턴의 형성이 가능하였다.

Thermal properties of glass-ceramics made with zircon and diopside powders

  • Diopside is a ceramic material with excellent physical and chemical properties. However, when it is applied as an LED packaging material, heat dissipation of the LED element is not sufficient due to its relatively lower thermal conductivity, which may cause degradation of the LED function. In this study, glass-ceramics based on a $ZrO_2-CaO-MgO-SiO_2$ system, in which diopside is the main crystal phase, were prepared by heat-treating the glass, which was composed of zircon ($ZrO_2-SiO_2$) powders and diopside ($CaO-MgO-2SiO_2$) powders. The possibility of using the glass-ceramics as a packaging material for LEDs was then investigated by analyzing the density, shrinkage, thermal conductivity, and phases generated according to the amount of zircon powder added. The density and shrinkage of specimens decreased slightly and then increased again with the amount of $ZrO_2-SiO_2$ added within a range of 0~0.38 mol. Even though the crystal phase of zircon does not appear in the $ZrO_2-CaO-MgO-SiO_2$ system, the glass containing 0.38 mol zircon powder showed the highest thermal conductivity, 1.85 W/mK, among the specimens fabricated in this study: this value was about 23% higher than that of pure diopside. It was found that the thermal conductivity of the glass-ceramics based on a $ZrO_2-CaO-MgO-SiO_2$ system was closely related to the density, but not to the phase type. Zirconia ($ZrO_2$), a component oxide of zircon, plays an important role in increasing the density of the specimen. Furthermore the thermal conductivity of glass-ceramics based on a $ZrO_2-CaO-MgO-SiO_2$ system showed a nearly linear relationship with thermal diffusivity.

개질 고로 슬래그에 관한 연구 (유리 제조에 관한 연구) (Effects of Processed Slag as Glassmaking Raw Material (on Soda-Lime Glass))

  • A study was made on the processing of domestic blast furnace slag by flotation and chemical purification for the use of slag as a raw material in making soda lime glasses. Feasibility study has been made for the use of reprocessing slag as a source material for both coloring and chemical components (such as CaO, $Al_2O_3$, MgO and etc.) in the glass making process. Chemical composition of chemically purified slags ranges; $SiO_2$ 34.5~37.5, $Al_2O_3$, 16.2~14.1, $Fe_2O_3$ 0.33~0.14, CaO 34.5~38.8, MgO 4.0~5.2, NmO 0.16~0.39, $TiO_2$ 0.23~0.35, S 0.08~0.42, ignition loss 3.3~8.4 and others 0.48~0.51%. It was found that either amber or greenish color could be easily obtained with the addition of salg up to 24%, however the slag addition to glass batches much impaired the transmitancy of glass products, thus a glass made with 7% slag addition showed 82% in transmitancy value at 510 nm.

무용기 용융법을 활용한 형광소재용 결정화 유리 개발 (Development of novel oxyfluoride glasses and glass ceramics for photoluminescence material by a containerless processing)

  • 본 연구에서는 containerless processing 법을 활용하여 새로운 형광 소재용 Eu2O3-BaF2-La2O3-B2O3 계 유리 및 결정화 유리를 개발하였다. 또한 조성 및 결정화 정도에 따른 유리의 열적, 광학적, 구조적 특성 변화를 분석하였다. 유리 조성에 따른 열적 특성은 DTA 분석을 통해 이루어졌으며, BaF22 함량의 증가에 따라 유리전이온도 및 유리화능이 급격히 감소하는 것을 확인하였다. 유리의 결정화 특성은 XRD 분석을 통해 확인되었으며, BaF2 결정상의 결정화 정도에 따라 발광 효율이 증가하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 유리구조 내에서 fluorine 이온의 결합특성을 분석하기 위해 La 3d5/2 XPS 및 F 1s XPS 스펙트럼을 분석하였다. fluorine 이온은 유리내에서 network modifier 역할을 하는 Ba2+ 및 La3+ 이온과 주로 결합하는 것을 확인할 수 있었고, 결정화 과정에서 La-F 결합이 감소하고 Ba-F 결합이 증가하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Sol-Gel법을 이용한 (0.8PPV+0.2DMPPV)/Silica Glass, Borosilicate Glass 복합체의 합성과 그 특성 (Synthesis and Their Properties of (0.8PPV+0.2DMPPV)/Silica Glass, Borosilicate Glass Composites by Sol-Gel Process)

  • The (0.8PPV+0.2DMPPV) copolymer and silica/borosilicate composites were synthesized by sol-gel process. The organic-inorganic hybrid solution was prepared by using of (0.8PPV+0.2DMPPV) copolymer precursor solution as a raw material for organic components and TEOS and TMB for glass components. Then by drying the solution in vacuum at 5$0^{\circ}C$ for 7days and subsequent heat treatment in vacuum at 15$0^{\circ}C$~30$0^{\circ}C$ for 2h~72h with heating rate of 0.2$^{\circ}C$/min and 1.8$^{\circ}C$/min, the organic-inorganic composites were synthesized. Microstructural evolution of the composites was characterized by DSC, IR spectrocopy, UV/VIS spectroscopy, and TEM. Elimination of the polymer precursor and degradation of the polymer were observed by DSC and Si-O and trans C=C absorption peaks were identified by IR spectra. The polymer was found to be successfully incorporated into the glass matrix and it was confirmed by the absorption peaks from the polymer in the UV/VIS spectra and the TEM results. The absorption peak of the composites was found to shift toward short wavelength side compared to that of the pure polymer and the amount of the blue shift increased with increasing the heat treatment temperature and heat treatment time and with decreasing the heating rate.
