In this paper, we analyze an M / M / 1 queueing system where there are incentive conflicts among customers. Self-interested customers' decisions whether to join the system or not may not necessarily induce a socially optimal congestion level. As a way to alleviate the over-congestion, toll imposition was used in Naor's paper [3]. Instead of using a toll mechanism, we study the usefulness of imperfect information on system state (queue size, for example) as a way to reduce the over-congestion by self-interested customers. The main conclusion of this paper is that by purposefully giving fuzzy or imperfect information on the current queue size we can improve the congestion in the system. This result might look contradictory to rough intuition since perfect information should give better performance than imperfect information. We show how this idea is verified. In deriving this result, we use the concept of Nash equilibrium (pure and mixed strategy) as introduced in game theory. In some real situations, using imperfect information is easier to apply than imposing a toll, and thus the result of this paper has practical implications.

Wavelet transformation in image compression is to offer higher image compressibility and high-quality by quantization and entropy encoding. It is very necessary to find how to develop international government procurement by analyzing functions and roles of information providing circumstance and existing total international government procurement information system. In addition, it would require to draw up a way of improving current international government procurement information system based on the problems of existing system. In this study, we analyze the current status of Korean international government procurement information system and give an idea of mutual cooperating with DGMARKET, a good example of international government procurement information system. As a practical method, cooperating with DGMARKET by building each countries' gateway will be very helpful in cost saving and providing information. It will also complement the limitation of Korean system's one way service. But supplying only international government procurement information is insufficient in realization of e-trade in international goverment procurement market. To settle these problems, treating international government procurement as a same field of trade and giving political support and incentive to company which hopes to participate international goverment procurement are absolutely needed.

This paper focuses on historical instances of iconoclasm after the Reformation to reveal how iconoclasm had greatly contributed to the formation of the Protestant mindset in the early modern times. During the English civil war, when iconoclastic campaigns and movements were in full tide, the paper argues that the notions of novelty and progress were more positively accepted among radical religious groups. To put it in another way, the paper suggests a different way of looking the formation of Protestant habitus by giving accounts of how iconoclastic impulses spurred diverse religious groups during the civil war to break the mold of conservative thinking and to revolutionize the print culture hitherto based on patronage and served as a buttress for status-quo. From this analysis, then, we are ledto the different portrait of the protestant in the seventeenth century, whose mindset was not quite as solitary and guilt ridden as Max Weber would have us believe.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree of self-monitoring (SM), the task situation and the appeal type of advertising impact on consumer behavior: in inner wear purchase. Information for the study was obtained with the use of experimental design. the experimental materials for the study were two-type inner wear advertisements (image appeal Ad/product appeal Ad). The subjects were 270, who were randomly sampled women undergraduate students in Korea, and main-test subjects (70 high SM subjects/69 low SM subjects) were assigned to the cells of 2 (self usage/gift-giving)x2 (quality appeal Ad/image appeal Ad). According to the 2x(2$\times$2) mixed factorial design, the level of SM score, the type of task situation score and the level of appeal type of advertising score were compared and tested by analysis of ANOVA. The results of experiment were as follows: 1. Experimental 1. the results showed the product preference on inner wear was the significant 3-way interaction effects among the degree of SM, the task situation, and the appeal type of advertising as well as the significant main effects of the appeal type of advertising. That is, the situation impact differs from the appeal type of advertising according to the degree of SM. 2. Experimental ll. the results showed the purchase intention on inner wear was the significant 2-way interaction effects between the appeal type of advertising and the task situation as well as the significant main effects of the appeal type of advertising and the task situation. That is, there is considerable difference in gift-giving situation rather than in self- usage situation according to the appeal type of advertising.

Biplots are the multivariate analogue of scatter plots. They approximate the multivariate distribution of a sample in a few dimensions, typically two, and they superimpose on this display representations of the variables on which the samples are measured(Gower and Hand, 1996, Chapter 1). And the relationships between the observations and variables can be easily seen. Thus, biplots are useful for giving a graphical description of the data. However, this method does not give some concise interpretations between variables and observations when the number of observations are large. Therefore, in this study, we will suggest to interpret the biplot analysis by applying the K-means clustering analysis. It shows that the relationships between the clusters and variables can be easily interpreted. So, this method is more useful for giving a graphical description of the data than using raw data.

This study was conducted to determine whether or not the form and angle of the precombustion chamber affected the performance of agricultural diesel engines. Twenty different types of precombustion chambers were designed and tested using a two way classification with four individual tests. The output power and specific fuel consumption ratio at full load were measured and analyzed. The results of the study were summarized as follows; 1. The diameter of main passageway giving the best power output and specific fuel consumption ratio at full load was between 5.8 and 6.1mm. The ratio of area of main passageway bore to that of piston head was from 0.4 to 0.44 percent at the highest engine power. 2. The angle of main passageway giving the best power output and specific fuel consumption ratio at full load was between 41 and 43 degrees. 3. The change of the diameter of main passageway affected the output of engine more significantly than the change of angle, however, on the specific fuel consumption ratio the angle of main passageway had more effect than the diameter.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate student nurses' knowledge and attitude related to the elderly. Method: The data were collected from 519 student nurses studying in university by means of a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson correlation analysis by SPSS version 10. Results: The average score of the respondents' knowledge of the elderly was 12.02(${\pm}2.77$) out of 25. The average score of the respondents' attitude toward the elderly was 80.09(${\pm}11.69$) out of 140. There was a statistically significant difference in the respondents knowledge of the elderly depending on their degree of preference for giving nursing care to the elderly (F=7.534, p=.001). There was a statistically significant difference in the respondents attitude toward the elderly depending on their degree of preference for giving nursing care to the elderly (F=23.167, p=.000), possession of living grandparents (F=6.174, p=.002), and degree of interaction with elderly (t=5.661, p=.000). Student nurses' knowledge and attitude related to the elderly were significantly correlated. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop a program for continuous teaching and education that will help increase student nurses' knowledge of the elderly and thereby positively change their attitude toward the elderly.

The purpose of this study is to design neckties that are motivated by Christmas symbol images that have been known to public most widely in the basis of Day marketing so as to develop the competitive commodities closed to consumers' emotion in the fashion industry. As a method of this study were to use Adobe Illustrator CS2, which is one of the vector graphic programs, to present the motif design such as Santa Claus, trees, presents and letters among Christmas symbols, and are to apply to neckties by giving a change with striped pattern, all over pattern and one point pattern. The results are as follows; Firstly, Santa Claus image was expressed by color contrast with red and white, which was perceived by red, green and white that are mostly used in Christmas. Secondly, tree images are expressed abstractly with color contrast where red and green are contrasted, and color way change was given for symbol color of Christmas. Third, in the image of gift, the image of share and image of colorfulness were considered for expression by making motifs of three dimensional hexahedron shape. Fourthly, in the image of type, motif was expressed by giving a change in horizontal and vertical writing types.
