Lots of educational and medical facilities were actively built along with foreign missionary activities under Korean Empire era. Paiwha Girls' High School is one of the educational facilities and at that time dormitory house was essential for recruiting girl students. Especially Paiwha's dormitory was traditional hanok style, but now an auditorium has built in its place. This study carried on to restore its hanok dormitory house based on the plan sketch which drawn Paiwha Girls' High School magazine. Through the analysis and investigation, we found some results as follows. Paiwha's Hanok Dormitory had composed of 23 dormitories rooms, management space, sanitary space, dining space, etc. In living rooms division, there are three types of rooms, and it's room was 4~5 pyung(坪) in size and using area per person was 1pyung. Besides all rooms were connected by a corridor. The structure was 5-ryang(樑) type without high column or with one high column. Looking at structure and the shape of the roof on the historic photos, it seems to be a lower roof slope than other traditional house because of reducing its weight. But its span between two columns was wider relatively.

This study investigated the association between breakfast frequency (0~2 times, 3~6 times, and 7 times per week) and awareness of general school life (physical activity, relationships with teachers and friends, rule compliance, study attitudes, study records, and overall school life) in high school students (boys 146 and girls 155) in the Yongin region. Awareness of physical activity was higher in girls (77.4%) than in boys (65.1%). Rule compliance showed a significant difference in girls (P<0.01), whereas boys did not show any difference. Percentage of 'effective' awareness of study attitudes was 24.0% and 44.5% in boys and girls, respectively. Awareness of study records in girls showed significant difference (0~2 times 37.5%, 3~6 times 30.4%, and 7 times 52.2%) (P<0.05), whereas boys did not show any difference. Awareness of overall school life showed a significant difference in both boys (P<0.05) and girls (P<0.01). Association between breakfast frequency and general school life in boys was as follows: awareness of overall school life had the highest positive value (+0.185) (P<0.05) and relationships with teachers had the second (+0.168) (P<0.05). Girls also showed the highest positive value (+0.323) (P<0.01) for awareness of overall school life, which occurred in the following order: rule compliance (+0.316) (P<0.01)> awareness of study attitudes (+0.267) (P<0.01)> relationships with friends (+0.215) (P<0.01). In conclusion, high school students showed a high positive association between breakfast frequency and general school life, particularly in girls. Therefore, effective nutrition education programs in connection with national policy and school support are highly required to provide healthy breakfast and school life to high school students.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate a sizing system of ready-to-wear clothes for middle-school girls. Results of the study are as follows. 1. Results of the survey revealed most middle-school girls preferred garments for women like unisex-casual and young-casual, and prioritized overall style and design over sizing issues. However, when they purchased clothes, they were dissatisfied with the poor fit of ready-to-wear clothing, which is a little too big for average middle-school girls. 2. There is a difference between a brand's target age and its average consumer age. $96.7\%$, of respondents purchased clothes from unisex-casual and young-casual brands, which sizes did not fit for them. Most of these brands had female adults ages 18 to 24 as their targets, whose somatotypes do not correspond with those of girls 12 to 15 years old. 3. Body measurements of those in age groups from 12 to 15 and from 10 to 24 were analyzed to identify physical differences between middle-school girls and female adults, which confirmed the relevance of different sizing systems for each age group. As a result, it is undesirable that middle school girls' clothes are designed in accordance with sizing system for female adults' garments. 4. Using the two-wav distribution of middle school girls' stature-bust circumference for upper garments, and stature-waist circumference for lower garments, this study establishes a sizing system in sections of high frequency. The size intervals of stature and circumference were 5cm and 3cm respectively.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of home environment school life adjustment and demographic variables on the adolescents' clothing attitudes The subjects were 682 middle and high school boys and girls(boys. 342, girls:340) in Seoul Korea. Modesty of boys was influenced by parent's education(-) academic record achievement tendency of home and allowance(-) $(R^2$=8.6%) and girls influenced by affection of home(-) allowance(-) age and academic record$(R^2$=11.2%). Clothing satisfaction of boys was influenced by parents' education self-control tendency of home and school life adjustment$(R^2$=19.4%). girls influenced by allowance affection of home parents' education school life adustment and self-control of home$(R^2$=20.3%) Age was most important in predicting the wearing of regulative clothes of boys. followed by allowance and academic record(-)$(R^2$=26.7%) allowance was most important in girls followed by academic record(-), and achievement tendency of home $(R^2$=19.0%). The present findings mean that the more allowance adolescents received and the lower the academic record the lower the modesty and the their the wearing of regrlative clothes. The school life adjustment and home environment such as achievement affection and self-control tendency were meaningful variables That affect clothing attitude of adolescent.

This study sets out to assess the scientific literacy of secondary school students and to describe their differences according to gender, grade, course. This study involved 112 middle school students and 213 high school students. Their scientific literacy was measured by the Scientific Literacy Test designed by Manhart (1997). A 70-item multiple-choice test was used to assess their scientific literacy. The constructs of science factor included 36 items making up physical science, life science, and earth science subtests. The social aspects of science factor consisted of 34 items in nature of scientific inquiry/knowledge, science as a human endeavor, science and technology, and societal perspectives. A two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and t-test were conducted using the SPSS program. The scientific literacy score of the middle school students was 45.17. There was no significant difference according to gender but boys tended to perform better than girls on both the constructs of science factor and the social aspects of science factor. The scientific literacy score of the high school students was 51.79. There was no significant difference according to gender. But, boys tended to perform better than girls on the constructs of science factor. Girls tended to perform better than boys on the social aspects of science factor. The students taking a course on natural science got statistically higher scores than the students taking a course on humanities. The high school students got statistically higher scores than the middle school students.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the recognition degrees of contents in Home Economics textbook for middle school students among pre-middle school students and their parents. It is for developing better Home Economics textbook. Three objectives of this study were ; 1) To find the recognition degrees of the fact that Home Economics subject is supposed to utilize for not only girls, but boys students in middle schools in 1996 among pre-middle school students and their parents. 2) To find the degrees of necessity in each field of Home Economics subject among pre-middle school students and their parents. 3) To find the differences in recognition degrees of understandings, attitudes, and sills of Home Economics subject between pre-middle school students and their parents. Questionnaire survey method was utilized to 1,205 sixth grade students and their parents in Pusan. The results of this study as follows; 1) It was low that the recognition degrees of the fact that Home Economics subject is supposed to utilize for both girls and boys in middle school among both pre-middle school students and their parents. This result implies that it is important to important to disseminate the curriculum change in Home Economics practice to the public. 2) It was high that the recognition degree of necessity in each field of Home Economics subject among pre-middle school students and their parents. The recognition degree were different according to sociodemographic factors. That is , $\circled1$the recognition degrees of students were lower than their parents; $\circled2$ the recognition degrees of parents who have high education were higher than those who have low education ; $\circled3$ the recognition degree of an environmental field was highest. 3) There were little differences between pre-middle school students and their parents in the recognition degrees of understandings, attitudes, and skills of Home Economics subjects: The recognition degrees of girls fathers showed higher scores than boys fathers those of in understandings and skills of Home Economics subject. The recognition degrees of girls fathers showed higher scores than those of girls in attitudes of Home Economics subject.
In order to develop an obesity management program for teenagers, we compared obese and non-obese girls attending high schools in terms of their dietary practices related to snack consumption. Dietary records were collected for 7 days. No significant differences were found for the average daily energy intake between obese and non-obese girls. However, the highest energy intake was greater for obese girls while not much difference was found for the lowest amount of energy intake. Obese girls had significantly lower intakes in calcium (P < 0.01), vitamin A (P < 0.001) and folate (P < 0.01). Mean energy intake from snack ($594.1{\pm}312.1kcal$) was significantly higher for obese girls than for non-obese girls ($360.1{\pm}173.1kcal$) (P < 0.001). A significant, positive correlation was observed between energy intake from snack and total daily energy intake (r = 0.34 P < 0.01) only for obese girls. In case of dietary behaviors, obese adolescent girls consumed significantly greater number of items for snacks and fewer foods for regular meals compared to non-obese girls (P < 0.05). This study suggested that obesity management programs for adolescents should focus on providing strategies to reduce snack through enhancing balanced regular meals.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of obesity in urban and rural junior high school students. Height, weight, skinfold thickness and bioelectrical impedance were measured. The results obtained were summarized as follows : The average height and weight of boys were respectively 159.61cm 50.56kg and those of girls were respectively 155.88cm, 48.12kg. The percentage of obesity was respectively 6.20%, 10.22%, 5.47%, 17.15%, 14.60% for boys and 4.38%. 9.69%, 3.13%, 3.75%, 7.19% for girls by BMI, RI. OI, % body fat I, % body fat II. The rates of obesity were higher in boys than in girls, so nutritional education on obesity for boys is especially necessary. 21.09% of boys and 7.04% of girls in urban and 7.09% of boys and 7.48% of girls in rural were obese. Correlation coefficients between TC(triceps skinfold thickness + calf skinfold thickness) and BMI, RI, OI, % body fat I and % body fat II were 0.66, 0.67, 0.67, 0.77, 0.70.
The study analyzed the body shape perception, weight control attitude, nutrition knowledge, and dietary habits of 529 high school students in Jeju surveyed from January 14-18, 2008 according to students' body shape satisfaction, with the aim of providing basic nutritional education data to aid in appropriate weight control for high school students. The data were analyzed by descriptive analysis, T-test, Chi-square test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficients, using the SPSS Win 12.0 program. The body mass index (BMI) of subjects was in the normal range. With regard to weight distribution, 59.4% of subjects showed normal weight and girls were significantly more underweight than boys. More girls considered themselves to be fatter than boys and tended to be increasingly dissatisfied with their body shape. Both boys and girls were more interested in weight control for obesity and were significantly less satisfied with their body shape. Efforts at weight control and reduction had occurred significantly more often for girls than for boys. Dietary attitude scores were significantly higher in girls than boys. BMI positively correlated to weight control concern and nutrition knowledge positively correlated to dietary attitude. BMI negatively correlated to the body shape satisfaction, which in turn negatively correlated to food ingestion disorders. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a systematic nutrition educational program that can induce changes in dietary behavior and increase accurate perception and satisfaction of body shape.
The purpose of this study are to measure the overall level of consumer consciousness and behavior on environmental problems of high school girl students and to analyze the most influential factors related to the socio-demography and the education on environment. This study also aims at inspiring the students with sound view of environments and furnishing basic data for the development of consumer education program. The researcher used questionnaires on consumer consciousness scale and consumer behavior scale for the purpose of this study. 640 students were surveyed randomly in Kwangju and Chonnam, and 608 questionnaires were selected as final analysis data. Major Findings were as follows: 1. The average score of consumer consciousness and behavior on environmental problems of the high school girls were 86.0 on scale of 110 (72.7 on scale of 100) and 63.3 on scale of 115(43.8 on scale of 100). 2. The consumer consciousness and behavior on environmental problems of the high school girls showed partial differences according to the socio-demography variable. 3. The consumer consciousness and behavior on environmental problems of the high school girls showed partial differences according to the education to environment variables. 4. The consumer behavior on environmental problems had a positive relationship with the consumer consciousness. 5. The most influential variables on the consumer consciousness were necessity of the education on environment, the type of school, region, and monthly allowance money in sequence. And the most influential variables on the consumer behavior were the campaign on environment in home, participation in environment preservation, cosciousness of environment, and education experience on environment in sequence.
