  • This dissertation was aimed at finding an implication of selecting and educating the gifted of information science discovering features of gifted learner in the field of math and science and the gifted of information science through comparative analysis of observing evaluation for the gifted of information science. Subjects of the study are foundation course learners of University Science Education Institute for the Gifted in the field of physics, earth science, math, information science. We have compared the features of learners of each field through one-way ANOVA about an observing evaluation for one year. In consequence, information science learners showed mostly different features from physics and earth science learners in details of an attitude area and a problem solving area. On this, the researcher concluded that there must be features of the gifted on information science and their difference from gifted learners in math and science was caused by learner levels and features of each field. Based on the result of this study, we expect that we can imply it to selecting and educating the gifted of information science.

  • While many research focused learners as those who excel in mathematics or science, the identification of learners with potential or demonstrated talent in visual art has also been the meaningful research topic. Since these learners exhibit high performance capability in intellectual, creative and artistic areas, they require services or programs not ordinarily provided by the schools. This research tried to clarify what high performance means when speaking of learners with outstanding talent in the visual arts based on the relevant literature. Also, this research introduced the recent trends in the field of art gifted and talented education. In order to demonstrate critical issues and find new directions in art education for gifted learners, this research conducted the survey, and this survey target group was arts high school students. Based on the survey analysis, this research conducted the semi-structured interviews with focal participants including the teachers and an artist. Interviewees generated many meaningful issues, and interview analysis reconceptualized art education for gifted learners as following. 1) Gifted education should consider learners' excellence, equity, troubles, and struggles that often go unnoticed. 2) We should reform the criteria, standards, and strategies in finding art gifted learners. 3) In order to facilitate meaningful and creative art education, higher education institutions need to change the current college entrance exam. 4) The goal of gifted art education is not only raising the world-class artists. 5) Meaningful art education for gifted learners is in interaction with the environment including group dynamics, parents influence, and teachers.

And an analysis of each subject of information science learners showed that the test of attitude area in the fields of math and information was relatively superior to that of science. On this, the researcher concluded that there must be features of the gifted on information science and their difference from gifted learners in math and science was caused by learner levels and features of each field. • Learning styles affect how students access and handle their task, so it is very important to understand how they study, when planning teaching-learning process, to enhance their potential to the maximum. In addition, in order to improve the quality of gifted education, there is a need to examine the curriculum and teaching-learning process which reflect learner characteristics. In this study, gifted student's preferred learning styles are investigated using questionnaires and learning style inventory. Also by analyzing the characteristics of the learners, it is hoped to get parents and teachers to understand the gifted who have various talents, and to support teaching programs for the gifted in order to develop their potential. This study shows that there are differences in the studying style between the gifted child and the average child. Namely, learner's physical and psychological environment can affect learning styles. Also there is a difference between the studying style which the gifted students prefer and the teaching style which teachers use most frequently. Programs for the gifted should be planned through better understanding of the characteristics of the learners.

  • The 21st century is called as the "Age of knowledge flood", and thus the importance of the ability which can use knowledge creatively is more emphasized. Also, not only individual problem solving but also solving problems through effective communication skills with group members are needed, and therefore, it is requested to train potential gifted learner working together with others to practice cooperation and eventually grown up as a competitive human resource to adapt successfully in future environment. In this paper, to show the effectiveness of cooperative learning in gifted learners, members for cooperative learning group has been selected using whole brain theory from the 42 gifted middle school students who participated in summer gifted learner vacation program. From the analysis of the learners' learning motivation and frequency of interactions whole brain based cooperative learning is effective for enhancing both learning motivation and interactions. Therefore, the whole brain based cooperative learning is an effective pedagogy for enhancing the motivation as well as facilitating interactions within gifted learners.
