Lipase from Geotrichum candidum was heat inactivated in 0.1M phosphate buffer solution. The thermal inactivation followed first order kinetics for the range of temperatures $50^{\circ}-80^{\circ}C$ except at $50^{\circ}C$. The changes in enthalpy, entropy and Gibbs free energy at $60^{\circ}C$ were 120.4 kJ/mol, 73.0 J/mol K and 96.9 kJ/mol respectively a value of $19^{\circ}C$(Geotrichum candidum lipase) is greater than that of lipases from milk and pancreas. The effect of detergents, lecithin and linoleic acid or the thermal inactivation of lipase was found to be negligible.

The stability of gel structured emulsion and the effect of polyols on it have been studied by rheological property and interfacial tension. In this paper, three types of gel structured emulsions were prepared by using three polyols respectively(glycerine for sample 1, 1.3 BG for sample 2, PG for sample 3). And both complex modulus($G^*$) and loss angle[$\delta$ = tan-1(G"/G')] of samples were investigated against oscillating shear stress and frequency($\omega$). The results show sample 1 is most highly consistent with oscillating shear stress. And the results were compared with those of accelerated tests concerning storage stability of gel structured emulsion. To correlate consistency of rheological property with storage stability, interfacial tension from which adsorption efficiency of surfactant(Octyldodecyl Ether) could be known was measured. Sample 1 showed the largest value of [$d{\gamma}/dIn_{Cconc. of surfactant}$] in Gibbs equation. In summary, the prediction of stability could be correctly made by the consistency of rheological property(G*,$\gamma$) of gel structured emulsion against oscillating shear stress and it could be supported by measuring interfacial tension. And polyol affected the value of [$d{\gamma}/dIn_{Cconc. of surfactant}$], consequently affected the stability.lity.
Results for molecular dynamics simulation method of small liquid drops of argon (N = 1200-14400 molecules) at 94.4 K through a Lennard-Jones intermolecular potential are presented in this paper as a preliminary study of drop systems. We have calculated the density profiles ${\rho}(r)$, and from which the liquid and gas densities ${\rho}_l$ and ${\rho}_g$, the position of the Gibbs' dividing surface $R_o$, the thickness of the interface d, and the radius of equimolar surface $R_e$ can be obtained. Next we have calculated the normal and transverse pressure tensor ${\rho}_N(r)$ and ${\rho}_T(r)$ using Irving-Kirkwood method, and from which the liquid and gas pressures ${\rho}_l$ and ${\rho}_g$, the surface tension ${\gamma}_s$, the surface of tension $R_s$, and Tolman's length ${\delta}$ can be obtained. The variation of these properties with N is applied for the validity of Laplace's equation for the pressure change and Tolman's equation for the effect of curvature on surface tension through two routes, thermodynamic and mechanical.
The addition of ferric ferrocyanide (Prussian blue; PB) to adsorbents could enhance the adsorption performance of 133Cs. Toward this goal, we present a heterogeneously integrated carbonaceous material platform consisting of PB in direct contact with CO2-activated carbon filters (PB-CACF). The resulted sample retains 24.39% more PB than vice versa probed by the ultraviolet-visible spectrometer. We leverage this effect to capture 133Cs in the aqueous environment via the increase in ionic strength and micropores. We note that the amount of PB was likely to be the key factor for 133Cs adsorption compared with specific surface characteristics. The revealed adsorption capacity of PB-CACF was 21.69% higher than the bare support. The adsorption characteristics were feasible and spontaneous. Positive values of 𝜟Ho and 𝜟So show the endothermic nature and increased randomness. Based on the concept of capturing hazardous materials via hazardous materials, our work will be of interest within the relevant academia for collecting radionuclides in a sufficient manner.

The ion-exchange properties of $Ca^{2+}$ and $Mg^{2+}$ ions have been studied in ${\delta}-Na_2Si_2O_5$ synthesized from water glass. Results show that optimum temperature for synthesis of ${\delta}-Na_2Si_2O_5$ was $725^{\circ}C$. Ion-exchange isotherms for $Ca^{2+}$ and $Mg^{2+}$ exchange for $Na^+$ in the synthetic ${\delta}-Na_2Si_2O_5$ show that the ion-exchange capacity of magnesium is better than that of calcium, and the ion-exchange of magnesium is less sensitive for temperature than that of calcium. When initial pH of solution is increased between 2 and 6, the ion-exchange capacities of magnesium and calcium decrease a little. However, they are almost constant above pH 6 because of alkali buffer effect of ${\delta}-Na_2Si_2O_5$. In the thermodynamic studies, it was found that Gibbs free energies of reaction of calcium ion-exchange are larger than those of magnesium ion-exchange with inverse order of selectivity. The standard enthalpy and entropy of reaction of calcium ion-exchange are larger than those of magnesium ion-exchange.

Private education expenses is one of the key issues in Korea and there have been many discussions about it. Academically, most of previous researches for private education expenses have used multiple regression linear model based on ordinary least squares (OLS) method. However, if the data do not satisfy the basic assumptions of the OLS method such as the normality and homoscedasticity, there is a problem with the reliability of estimations of parameters. In this case, quantile regression model is preferred to OLS model since it does not depend on the assumptions of nonnormality and heteroscedasticity for the data. In the present study, the data from a survey on private education expenses, conducted by Statistics Korea in 2015 has been analyzed for investigation of the impacting factors for private education expenses. Since the data do not satisfy the OLS assumptions, quantile regression model has been employed in Bayesian approach by using gibbs sampling method. The analysis results show that the gender of the student, parent's age, and the time and cost of participating after school are not significant. Household income is positively significant in proportion to the same size for all levels (quantiles) of private education expenses. Spending on private education in Seoul is higher than other regions and the regional difference grows as private education expenditure increases. Total time for private education and student's achievement have positive effect on the lower quantiles than the higher quantiles. Education level of father is positively significant for midium-high quantiles only, but education level of mother is for all but low quantiles. Participating after school is positively significant for the lower quantiles but EBS textbook cost is positively significant for the higher quantiles.
Genetic parameters for birth weights (BWT), calving ease scores observed from calves born by heifers (CEH), and calving ease scores observed from calves born by cows (CEC) were estimated using Bayesian methodology with Gibbs sampling in different threshold animal models. Data consisted of 77,458 records for calving ease scores and birth weights in Gelbvieh cattle. Gibbs samplers were used to obtain the parameters of interest for the categorical traits in two univariate threshold animal models, a bivariate threshold animal model, and a three-trait linear-threshold animal model. Samples of heritabilities and genetic correlations were calculated from the posterior means of dispersion parameters. In a univariate threshold animal model with CEH (model 1), the posterior means of heritabilities for calving ease was 0.35 for direct genetic effects and 0.18 for maternal genetic effects. In the other univariate threshold model with CEC (model 2), the posterior means of heritabilities of CEC was 0.28 for direct genetic effects and 0.18 for maternal genetic effects. In a bivariate threshold model with CEH and CEC (model 3), heritability estimates were similar to those in unvariate threshold models. In this model, genetic correlation between heifer calving ease and cow calving ease was 0.89 and 0.87 for direct genetic effect and maternal genetic effects, respectively. In a three-trait animal model, which contained two categorical traits (CEH and CEC) and one continuous trait (BWT) (model 4), heritability estimates of CEH and CEC for direct (maternal) genetic effects were 0.40 (0.23) and 0.23 (0.13), respectively. In this model, genetic correlation estimates between CEH and CEC were 0.89 and 0.66 for direct genetic effects and maternal effects, respectively. These estimates were greater than estimates between BWT and CEH (0.82 and 0.34) or BWT and CEC (0.85 and 0.26). This result indicates that CEH and CEC should be high correlated rather than estimates between calving ease and birth weight. Genetic correlation estimates between direct genetic effects and maternal effects were -0.29, -0.31 and 0.15 for BWT, CEH and CEC, respectively. Correlation for permanent environmental effects between BWT and CEC was -0.83 in model 4. This study can provide genetic evaluation for calving ease with other continuous traits jointly with assuming that calving ease from first calving was a same trait to calving ease from later parities calving. Further researches for reliability of dispersion parameters would be needed even if the more correlated traits would be concerned in the model, the higher reliability could be obtained, especially on threshold model with property that categorical traits have little information.

For investigation of adsoption properties of cadmium elimination by wood charcoal, $25m{\ell}$ aqueous cadmium solutions in various concentrations were treated with 0.2 g wood charcoal of Red Oak (Quercus mongolica) for 280 minutes. Almost 100% of cadmium elimination ratio was obtained in the solutions with initial concentration of 20 and 40 ppm in the treatment, whereas they were 75 and 50% in those of 80 and 160 ppm. In the effect of treatment time, the highest amount of cadmium ions was eliminated during the first ten minutes in each solution so that the elimination ratio of each case was over 70% of the maximum elimination value. From the analysis of adsorptive cadmium adsorption mechanism using the Langmuir adsorption isotherm, it was suggested that cadmium ion molecules were adsorbed at the active sites on the charcoal particle in form of one layer. The Gibbs free energy of the adsorption process was calculated in negative value for each solution. This means the adsorption processes are spontaneous which do not require the extra input energy.
In this paper, parameter characteristics such as pH effect, isotherm, kinetic and thermodynamic parameters and competitive adsorption of dyes including malachite green (MG), direct red 81 (DR 81) and thioflavin S (TS), which have different functional groups, being adsorbed onto activated carbon were investigated. Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin isotherm models were employed to find the adsorption mechanism. Effectiveness of adsorption treatment of three dyes by activated carbon were confirmed by the Langmuir dimensionless separation factor. The mechanism was found to be a physical adsorption which can be verified through the adsorption heat calculated by Temkin equation. The adsorption kinetics followed the pseudo second order and the rate limiting step was intra-particle diffusion. The positive enthalpy and entropy changes showed an endothermic reaction and increased disorder via adsorption at the S-L interface, respectively. For each dye molecule, negative Gibbs free energy increased with the temperature, which means that the process is spontaneous. In the binary component system, it was found that the same functional groups of the dye could interfere with the mutual adsorption, and different functional groups did not significantly affect the adsorption. In the ternary component system, the adsorption for MG lowered a bit, likely to be disturbed by the other dyes meanwhile DR 81 and TS were to be positively affected by the presence of MG, thus resulting in much higher adsorption.
