The present study was conducted to establish the suppression condition of lateral root development for producing high-quality peanut sprouts. The result of Chamsiru or 6BA treatment on peanut sprouts 'Jopyeong' and 'Vietnam' showed that the higher concentration of the solutions showed the better effect for suppressing lateral root development, regardless of the kinds of lateral root inhibitor. Compared to Chamsiru, 6BA showed better effect for suppressing lateral root development, and the effect was more obvious for 'Jopyeong' than 'Vietnam'. The alternant irrigation of Chamsiru and 6BA solution could produce high-quality peanut sprouts by inhibiting bacteria activity in solution and promoting of hypocotyl and root growth, while suppressing the lateral root development. The treatment of mixture solution of $GA_3$ and Chamsiru improved the overall growth of peanut sprouts, and the effect was the highest in the treatment of '$GA_3\;50mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ + Chamsiru $8.40mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$'.
In this experiment, interactions between light and other factors such as chilling, alternating temperature, moisture, content, oxygen, and seed coat which affect germination of Oenothera lamarckiana Ser. seed were investigated to study the physiological effects of light on the germination. Light induced the initial stage of seed germination before radical protrusion by affecting embryo rather than seed coat even under anaerobic condition or low water potential (-18 bars). This light effect on germinability of seed was suppressed by blue light irradiation and the effect was increased with increment of blue light intensity and irradiation time. However, the blue light effect was reversible. Chilling, alternating temperature, softening of seed coat and light showed promotive interaction in the induction of seed germination. Irradiation of filtered light (monochrome), however, reduced chilling effect on germination. Hydrogen-ion concentration and gibberellic acid treatment had no effect on light or dark germination.

Fruit drop is a serious problem in plum trees during fruit development after pollination and fertilization. In order to increase fruit yields, physiological fruit drop in plum trees at the early stages of fruit development must be reduced. In this study, the effect of gibberellic acid paste (GA paste 2.7%) applied on 'Formosa' plum was determined to reduce fruit drop. GA paste was applied one time on one set of the fruit stalk at 3 days after full bloom (DAFB), and on another set of the fruit stalk at 13 DAFB, and then the fruit-set rate was observed at 70 DAFB. GA paste application increased the fruit-set rate up to 61%. In 'Formosa', the time of GA application had a strong influence on reducing fruit drop. GA application increased the fruit-set rate up to 61% in treatments at 3 DAFB, and to 15% in treatments at 13 DAFB when the fruit-set rate was 5% in the control group. The same results were observed in 'Honey Red' and 'Akihime' plums. GA application impacted on fruit enlargement in the 'Formosa' cultivar, compared with the control trees, which had no GA application. The rate of fruit enlargement with GA application was similar to that of the control fruits until 70 DAFB, whereas the enlargement rate was slightly higher in the GAtreated trees than the control from 70 DAFB until harvest. In GA-treated fruit, fruit weight increased more than in the control, while total acidity and firmness was lower than in the control group. Additionally, GA application accelerated sucrose increase in maturing fruit. Our data indicated that GA paste application can reduce fruit drop, and subtly promote fruit enlargement and maturation in plum trees.
This experiment was conducted to study the effect of $CO_2$(0, 2, 500, 5, 000, 10, 000ppm) enrichment by enabling ventilation on micropropagation of multi-shoot and on the saponin contents in vitro in Korean ginseng (Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer). Embryo was cultured in Murashige and Skoog medium added 3mg/ l of Indolbutyric acid, Benzyladenin and Gibberellic acid $(GA_3)$, respectively. $CO_2$, enrichment had little effects on the number of adventitious buds and shoots originated from adventitious buds. The ratio of differentiated shoots to adventitious buds were about 50% in $CO_2$, enrichment treatment. The shoots originated from adventitious bud showed more rapid growth and had larger leaf area than the shoots originated from the leaf primordia did. The number of shoot primordia was the highest in 2, 500ppm of $CO_2$ enrichment treatment. On the contrary, 10,000ppm of $CO_2$, enrichment made smaller the number of shoot primordia and ratio of shoots to shoot primordia. The range of shoots differentiated was from shoot primordia were 15. 4 to 23. 9. The rate of dry weight of cultured shoots showed lowest (7. 5%) in control and highest (8. 59%) in 2, 500ppm of $CO_2$, enrichment. Rate of in vitro flower in control was 7.6% and that in 2500ppm of $CO_2$ was about twice (15.7-16.3%) as much as in control. Flower number per a embryo cultured was about 1.2-1.3. In the multi-shoots with callus enriched by 2, 500ppm of $CO_2$, the contents of crude saponin and ginsenosides in multi-shoots alone were higher than in multi-shoots with callus. The characteristics of ginsenosides in multi-shoots were especially the higher content of ginsenoside Rd, Re, and $Rg_1$.
This study was carried out to clarify seasonal changes of chemical compositions and their interrelation in leaves, shoots and berries treated with gibberellin($GA$_{3}$)for seedless grapes in ‘Delaware’grapevines. the clusters were dipped twice with 100ppm $GA_{3}$: 10 days befor and after the full bloom. The reaults obtained as follows; 1. Cumulative growth curve of berry fresh weight showed a double sigmoid curve and the characteristics of three distinctive growth stages(I, II, III)were weekened with $GA_{3}$ treatment. 2. while the contents of ash, total carbon, total nitrogen and total carbohydratd had little reation with edvelopment and ripeness of berries, those of total sugar and starch jad close relation, viz., they decreased with enlargement and maturity fo berries, but increased rapidly after harvest in leaves and shoots. Especially, total sugars in leaves and shoots decreased coincidently with starch-increasing in shoots at November. 3. The contents of total soluble solid and reducing sugar in berries increased rapidly at growth stage III, but those of total titratable acidity and organic acid decreased coincidently with sugar-increasing. 4. The berry-hardness increased until growth stage I, and then stagnated until gtowth stage II, and then increased rapidly at growth stage III. pH of berry-juice decreased until growth stageII, afterwards increased at growth stage III. 5. By correlation and path coefficient analysis between qualitative characters and the ratio of total soluble solid to titratable acidity($^{\circ}$Brix/Acidity), total correlation coefficients were all highly significant. Of these characters, pH and viscosity of berry-juice were positive, but brightness and hardness of berry, negative. The direct effect of pH on $^{\circ}$Brix/Acidity ratio, p4y=0.9090, was large positively and those of berry-hardness and juice-viscosity, p1y=0, 5938, median and, p2y=0, 3550, small, respectively. Direct effect of brightness was negatively small.
We analyzed the anthocyanin accumulation, abscisic acid (ABA), gibberellic acid (GA) contents and metabolic genes expression in berry skins under high temperature (High T) at veraison, in order to investigate the cause of bad coloration of 'Kyoho' grape due to High T in summer season. The coloration of 'Kyoho' grapes was stopped by High T for 10 days from veraison, and the fruit quality was not affected except skin color. Total anthocyanin of skins was decreased by High T treatment and malvidin and peonidin were decreased compared to control. In berry skins, ABA content did not decrease by High T treatment, but it was rather higher than that of control. GA content was increased about two times compared to the control after 10 days of High T treatment, which caused decreased ratio of ABA/GA. Analysis of expression of anthocyanin biosynthetic genes showed that the early biosynthetic genes were not affected by High T and the expression of UFGT was decreased by temperature treatment. ABA biosynthetic gene expressions were not affected by High T and the expression of GA20ox1 and GA2ox1/2, which are known to regulate the biosynthesis and inactivation of GA, were increased and decreased by High T, respectively. Therefore, the bad coloration of 'Kyoho' grapes under the High T at veraison was due to inhibition of anthocyanin biosynthesis of skin, and it was suggested that the anthocyanin biosynthesis was controlled by the ratio of ABA and GA rather than ABA content.
Barley embryoless half seeds were incubated in medium containing $10{\mu}M$ GA. Time course activity changes of ${\alpha}-amylase$ were studied in extract and medium seperately by the addition of $0.1{\mu}M,\;5{\mu}M,\;and\;10{\mu}M$ ABA in midcourse incubation of 10 hours after GA treatment. MAK profiles of nucleic acids in embryoless half seeds were compared either with $10{\mu}M$ GA treatment or concomitant treatment with $10{\mu}M$ GA and $10{\mu}M$ ABA after 10 hours incubation, Time course changes of weight increase, chlorophyll, protein and RNA consent in addition to RNase activity were studied in the presence of $10{\mu}M$ GA or $10{\mu}M$ ABA in barley coleoptile sections. After 20 hours incubation in the presence of plant hormones, MAK profiles of nucleic acids and reactive distribution of polysome and monosome were investigated. The above results were summarized as follows. 1) The production of ${\alpha}-amylase$ by treatment with GA alone increased at a linear rate in the incubation period and the active secretion of ${\alpha}-amylase$ began from 18 hours incubation in embryoless half seeds. 2) On the contrary to the partial inhibition by addition of $0.1{\mu}M$ ABA, the production of ${\alpha}-amylase$ was completely inhibited by both $5{\mu}M$ and $10{\mu}M$ ABA within 4 hours. Regardless of concentration of GA, the addition of $5{\mu}M$ ABA in midcourse completely inhibited the production of ${\alpha}-amylase$ 3) ABA treatment gave no effect on the secretion of ${\alpha}-amylase$. 4) There were no differences in RNA fractions between GA treatment and concomitant treatment with GA and ABA in the barlye embryoless half seeds. 5) While GA treatment increased the r-RNA fraction, ABA treatment decreased it and increased the s-RNA fraction in the coleoptile sections. 6) GA treatment increased RNA-DNA fraction best ABA treatment decreased it in the coleoptile sections. 7) While GA treatment suppressed RNase activity, ABA treatment increased it in the coleoptile sections. 8) GA treatment gave no great effect on the total RNA but ABA treatment remarkably diminished it in the coleoptile sections. 9) While GA treatment increased the growth and chlorophyll content, ABA treatment decreased them in the coleoptile sections. 10) GA treatment increased the protein synthesis and polysome formation but ABA treatment decreased them in the coleoptile sections. 11) The inhibition effect of ABA on polysome formation seemed to be resulted from the inhibition of r-RNA synthesis by ABA.
The majority of cultivated varieties of grape have perfect flowers that are clustered in an individual inflorescence. Grape flower has a single pistil, five stamens, a protective flower cap (calyptra), and a calyx. After fertilization, an individual flower develops into a single berry. Although there are a number of reported studies focusing on berry formation, berry enlargement, and sugar accumulation in grape, the morphological studies of flower, including gametophyte morphogenesis and structural change in floral organs, have not yet been studied in detail. In this study, we investigated the flower structure and development characteristics of grape using microscopy and defined the floral development stages 9 to 13 based on microspore or male gametophyte development stage from tetrad to mature pollen. We used seeded diploid table grapes 'Campbell Early' (Vitis labruscana) and 'Tamnara' (V. spp.) as plant materials. At floral development stage 9, pollen mother cells develop to tetrads. During floral development stages 10 to 11, unicellular microspore develop to mid bicellular pollen. At the end of floral stage 12, male gametophyte develops to mature tricelluar pollen. In floral stage 13, the flower cap falls off and flower bud opens. During floral development stages 9 to 12, there were no major changes in calyx length, whereas the length of the flower cap continuously increased. The flower cap-to-calyx length ratio was 2.0, 3.0, 4.5, and 6.5 at floral stages 9, 10, 11, and 12, respectively. The flower cap-to-calyx length ratio was consistent in the two grape cultivars, suggesting that the ratio is a morphological character representing floral development stage. This study provides a reference for determining floral development stage of the two grape cultivars. It will be useful for the determination of optimum time for microspore culture needed to generate doubled haploid lines and appropriate gibberellic acid treatment needed to induce parthenocarpic fruit development in 'Tamnara' grape.
This study was conducted to obtain basic informations for growth regulators on occurrence of sucker in tobacco plants (Nicotiana tabacum L.). Varieties used were "hicks" and "kusaga mammoth" and growth regulators such as MH(maleic hydrazide), GA(Gibberellic acid) and BA(Benzyl adenine) were used. Immediately after topping, an application of maleic hydrazide at 900g a.i./ha completely inhibited sucker development, but sucker were developed as the rates of MH decreased, in both varieties. In nontopped tobacco plants, the similar trend as in the topped plant was observed except for no sucker development in the untreated control. Any combination of GA and BA under presence of MH had no effects on sucker development in the topped tobacco plants. However, in the nontopped plants, sucker were observed when the combined ratio of BA and GA was 10 to 1 under the presence of MH standard level. The highest no. of sucker was obtained when combined BA $10^{-5}M$ with GA $10^{-6}M$ under the presence of MH, showing higher response of hicks than that of kusaga mammoth. A single application of GA and BA in the topped plants markedly increased sucker number as GA concentrations increased showing varietal difference. GA $10^{-4}M$ increased sucker number as high as as 42% for hicks, but inhibitory effect on kusaga mammoth in comparision with the untreated control, showing very effective on hicks. BA showed the similar effect like GA. Combinations of GA and BA showed antagonistic effect on sucker development. The length of sucker was markedly promoted as the GA rates increased, and the promotive effect of sucker length by GA was not nullified by the addition of BA. But combination treatment of GA and BA mostly resulted in less dry weight than the untreated control, indicating that sucker developed from the combined treatments of GA and BA were not normal and kusaga mammoth was more affected by them.

In this study, the effect of seed pre-treatments and pellet coating materials to enhance the efficiency of large-scale propagation of Aster koraiensis seeds were investigated. Seeds were immersed in water for one day, and only those that sank were used for pre-treatment to use filled seeds. Pre-treatments were divided into hormone treatments, with gibberellic acid (GA3; 200 and 500 ppm) and 24-epibrassinolide (10-6, 10-7, and 10-8M), and priming with potassium nitrate (100 mM of KNO3). To produce pellet-coated seeds, pellet materials (DTCS or DTK) were applied to control (unprimed) and primed seeds with binders (PVA or CMC). The maximum germination percent (GP) of seeds before pellet coating was 65% (with the priming treatment), and there was no difference in the GP of seeds among hormone treatments. For seeds sown in a growth chamber on filter paper, GP was 41% for control (unprimed/uncoated) seeds, 65% for uncoated primed seeds, 71% for DTCS/PVA-pellet-coated seeds, and 42% for DTK/CMC-pellet-coated seeds. Seeds that were primed first and then pellet-coated showed greatly improved GP, mean germination time (MGT), and germination rate than seeds that were only pellet-coated. For seeds sown in commercial soil in a greenhouse, control seeds had a GP of 27%, whereas primed seeds had the highest GP (58%), and their MGT and GT were 9.4 days and 7.0%·day, respectively. In addition, DTK/PVA-pellet-coated seeds (40%) also had a GP higher than the control (27%), and their MGT was 15-27 days. For seeds sown in sandy-loam soil in a greenhouse, unprimed-pellet-coated seeds and primed-pellet-coated seeds both had GPs ranged of 39%, which were lower than that of control seeds. In general, the seeds that were pellet-coated with DTK had a higher GP than those pellet-coated with DTCS. Furthermore, the MGT of unprimed-pellet-coated seeds was 15.0-19.8 days, which was longer than the MGT of primed-pellet-coated seeds. These results suggest that priming enhances seedling emergence of Aster koraiensis seeds. Moreover, when priming is combined with pellet coating, DTK is a more suitable pellet material than DTCS, and PVA and CMC are equally suitable adhesives.

1. (시행일) 이 약관은 2016년 9월 5일부터 적용되며, 종전 약관은 본 약관으로 대체되며, 개정된 약관의 적용일 이전 가입자도 개정된 약관의 적용을 받습니다.
