모기질세포종의 세침흡인 세포학적 소견 - 2예 보고 - (Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology of Pilomatrixoma - Two Cases Report -)

  • Pilomatrixoma is a benign skin appendage tumor of hair matrix cell origin. The cytological appearance of this tumor may cause problems when attempting to establish a differential diagnosis with other neoplasms. Herein we report the aspiration cytology findings of two cases of pilomatrixoma. One case was diagnosed as atypical cell clusters initially and the other was diagnosed as pilomatrixoma. On cytologic examination, both cases showed clusters of tightly arranged basaloid cells with an uniform appearance, scanty cytoplasm and round hyperchromatic nuclei. There were histiocytes and multinucleated foreign body giant cells merged with the amorphous opaque orangeophilic materials of "ghost cells". The differential diagnosis with other neoplasms is discussed.

이소시안화물 독성에 대한 보호장갑의 성능 연구 (A Study on Performance of Protective Gloves to Isocyanate Toxicity)

  • As the concerns of dermal exposure of spray painters to isocyanates in the automobile industry, glove performance was examined like permeation rate and breakthrough time including fatigue test. Methylene chloride was used as the solvent for derivatization of the isocyanates with a 97.5% recovery. Ghost wipe pads were used to wipe the surface of the glove material after chemical penetration through the glove material placed under a disposable test cell. Several solvents were tested, such as thinner(xylene, toluene) and cleaning agent(acetone) by using a standard permeation test cell(AS/NZS standard 2161. part 10.3). Solvents accelerate chemical permeation through the gloves more quickly than pure HDI hardener products. The longest breakthrough times were from Nitrosolve gloves, not detected in 8 hours, compared with others like Latex, Neoprene, TNT and Dermo Plus. Therefore Nitrosolve gloves could be recommended as personal protective equipment in crash repair shops. In addition, revised exposure limit of korean regulation should be suggested for employee to minimize the risk of health symptoms.

치아종을 동반한 석회화 치성낭에 관한 증례 보고 (CALCIFYING ODONTOGENIC CYST ASSOCIATED WITH ODONTOMA : CASE REPORT)

  • 석회화 치성낭은 상악 전치부에 호발하는 발육성 치성낭이나 조직학적 소견이 다양하고 따라서 분류 체계도 다양하다. 악골 내에서 느리게 진행되는 무통성 종창이 일반적이며 24-30%에서 매복치 및 치아종과 연관되어 나타난다. 피복 상피에 나타나는 유령세포는 결합 조직 에 노출되어 석회화 조직을 형성한다. 이 증례는 14세 여아의 상악 견치부에 발생한 치아종을 동반한 석회화 치성낭으로, 매복된 상악 좌측 견치 치관 주위로 경계가 명확한 방사선 투과성 병소와 다발성의 방사선 불투과성 석회화 물질이 혼재된 병소였다. 조직병리학적으로 중층 편평상피로 이장되어있고 상피 내에 유령세포가 관찰되었다. 석회화된 물질은 복합 치아종의 소견을 보여 Preatorius의 조직학적 분류에 의한 석회화 치성낭 Type IB로 진단되었다. 병소의 적출 및 병소에 이환된 견치 발치를 시행하였다. 현재 염증 소견이 관찰되어 병소에 이환된 상악 좌측 제1소구치는 치수치료를 시행하였으며 환아 및 보호자가 포괄적인 교정 치료를 원하여 현재 공간 유지 장치를 장착 중이다.

  • Electromagnetic wave absorbers for anechoic chamber are needed to broaden the useful frequency bandwidth, reduce the thickness, and decrease the weight. There are various absorbers proposed for the above conditions, but they could not decisively solve it the alone requirements. The Electromagnetic wave absorber made by a conventional ferrite tile has, for example, broadened the useful frequency bandwidth by the way of forming air layer(practically use urethane foam, etc.) on the ferrite tile. Therefore, an air layer is formed between a reflection plate and a sintered Ni-Zn ferrite tile of 7 mm in thickness, which has reflectivity less than -20 dB from 30 MHz to 600 MHz in bandwidth. Accordingly, in this paper, a broadened electromagnetic wave absorber will be designed, which has the reflection characteristics less than -20 dB from 30 MHz to 6000 MHz in the bandwidth. Then we will design a super broadband electromagnetic wave absorber by inserting square Ferrite Cylinders Type with the thickness less than 11 m and with the frequency band from 30 MHz to 6000 MHz under the above tolerance limits. The purpose of this research is on the development of a universal anechoic chamber for measuring radiated electromagnetic wave or immunity of electronic equipments, GTEM-cell, wall material for prevention TV ghost, etc.

석회화치성낭의 두 증례보고 (Two cases report of Calcifying Odontogenic Cyst)

  • The calcifying odontogenic cyst (COC) is a rare disorder of the jaws and shows various radiographic features. The purpose of this study is to describe the different radiographic appearances of 2 cases of COC. Case 1 was located in the posterior maxilla extending into maxillary sinus, showing unilocular radiolucency with a well-defined margin. Cortical bone expansion and thinning were prominent. Root resorption of adjacent teeth was apparent. Case 2 showed unilocular radiolucency with a calcified material. Calcification was supposed to be dystrophic dental hard structures, detected at the periphery of the lesion. Ghost cell and proliferation of ameloblastoma-like tissues were common features for these two lesions on histopathological findings. This reports presented common and atypical radiographic features of the COC.

Electromagnetic wave absorbers for anechoic chamber are needed to broaden the effective frequency bandwidth, reduce the thickness, and decrease the weight. There are various absorbers proposed for the above conditions, but they could not decisively solve the above requirements. The purpose of this research is on the development of a universal anechoic chamber for measuring radiated electromagnetic wave or immunity of electronic equipments, GTEM-cell and also a wall material for preventing TV ghost, etc.

Then we will design a super broadband electromagnetic wave absorber by inserting square Ferrite Cylinders Type with the thickness less than 23.5 m in three-layed type and with the frequency band from 30 MHz to 5,430-8,000 MHz under the above tolerance limits.

구강암 환자에서 $^{18}F$ FDG-PET/CT의 경부 림프절 전이 평가 유용성 (USEFULNESS OF $^{18}F$-FDG PET/CT IN THE EVALUATION OF CERVICAL LYMPH NODE METASTASIS IN PATIENTS WITH ORAL CANCER)

  • Purpose: The present study was aimed to examine the usefulness of 18F-FDG PET/CT in the evaluation of cervical lymph node metastasis in patients with oral cancer. Materials and methods: Twenty-two patients who underwent neck dissection to treat oral cancer were subjected for examination. The cervical node metastasis was evaluated by means of clinical examination, CT scan, PET, and histologic examination. By comparing the results of each examination modality with those of histologic examination, it's sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value were determined. Results: The oral cancer was more frequent in males with a ratio of 2.14:1. The sixth decade showed the highest incidence in age distribution with mean of $56{\pm}16$. Histologic findings showed that squamous cell carcinoma was the most common (15 patients), and mucoepidermoid carcinoma (3), malignant melanoma (2), and adenoid cystic carcinoma and ghost cell odontogenic carcinoma (1 each), in order. In most cases, wide surgical excision of the primary cancer and neck dissection was performed, followed by reconstruction with free flaps when necessary. When comparing the results of each examination modality with those of the histologic examination, clinical examination showed sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value at 11%, 85%, 33%, and 58%, respectively. CT scans showed at 67%, 77%, 67%, and 77%, while $^{18}F$-FDG PET/CT at 78%, 77%, 70%, and 83%, respectively. Conclusions: These results suggest that PET is more useful, compared with clinical examination and CT scans, in the evaluation of cervical lymph node metastasis in patients with oral cancer.

Saponin-SOD가 SNUC-4 Cell에 의해 유발편 대장암 Nude Mice의 암 성장 억제 효과 (Tumor-Suppressing Effects of Saponin-SOD in Nude Mice)

  • This study was performed to measure the antioxidant effects of red ginseng extracts which antioxidation had been promoted through enzyme hydrolysis. In order to observe their tumor-suppressing effects, an anti-cancer medicine and Saponin-SOD, which was a highly antioxidant beverage made from red ginseng saponin adding SOD-like rice (with embryo buds) extracts, were administered to nude mice with large intestine cancer induced. There was a significant increase in the content of phenolic compounds as the enzyme was added. The red ginseng extracts showed a high electron-donating ability with the passage of time. The electron-donating ability was particularly high in the enzyme-treated red ginseng extract, and also observed as high in Saponin-SOD. The lipid-peroxide generation was inhibited depending on the concentration of Saponin-SOD added; the addition of 0.625% Saponin-SOD served to decrease the inhibition level up to 65% compared with the case of no addition (100%). As a result, it could be assumed that Saponin-SOD would strongly inhibit the oxidation of ghost membrane. After the cancer was induced in nude mice through the injection of SNUC-4 cell, there was a significant inhibition in the growth of tumors in nude mice into which Saponin-SOD were injected; the growth of tumors was gradually decreasing with the passage of time after the cancer induction. In particular, when Saponin-SOD was administered together with an anti-cancer medicine, the synergic effect was observed. In conclusion, Saponin-SOD, when used with an anti-cancer medicine, is expected to reduce the amount of free radical and lipid peroxide, which are known to cause harmful effects occurring from the internal application of medicine.

  • With a rapid progress in electronic industry we enjoy various conveniences of life. As many kinds of information equipments are supplied even to most of individuals as to be called an information society, we are exchanging much information with one another surprisingly. Consequently the occupation density of microwave frequency band is highly increased, and electromagnetic environment is getting more seriously bad. It often gives fatal blow to even human life and thus becomes serious social problems. Electromagnetic wave absorbers for anechoic chamber are needed to broaden the effective frequency bandwidth, reduce the thickness, and decrease the weight. There are various absorbers proposed for the above conditions, but they could not decisively solve it the alone requirements. The purpose of this research is on the development of very wide-band electromagnetic absorber for a universal anechoic chamber for measuring radiated electromagnetic wave or immunity of electronic equipments, GTEM-cell, wall material for preventing TV ghost, etc.
