This study was carried out in order to reduce the installation expense of heating system for greenhouse comparing to geothermal heat pump and develope the coefficient of performance (COP) for a heat pump. For getting plenty of heat flux from geothermal energy. Surface water in river channel was used for getting a lots of geothermal heat by penetrating water through underground soil layer of the river bank that make heat transmission to passing water. The range of water temperature after the process of Ground filtration is 13~18 degrees celsius which is very similar to low heat source of geothermal heat pump system and the plenty amount of heat source from that make the number of geothermal heat exchanging hole and the expense for geothermal heat exchanger construction reduced. Drainage well is also used for returning filtration water to the aquifer that keep the water good recirculation from losing geothermal heat and water resource. For the COP improvement of Heat pump, thermal storage tank with separating insulation plate according to the temperature difference make the COP of Heat pump that is similar to thermal storage tank with diffuser. Developed thermal storage tank make construction expense cheaper than customarily used one's. and that sand filter and oxidation sand (FELOX) are going to be used for improving ground filtration water quality that make heat exchanger efficiency better. All above developed component skill are going to be set on the Ground filtration water source heat pump system and applied for medium, large scale for protected greenhouse in riverside area and on-site experiment is going to do for optimizing the heating system function and overcome the problem happening in the process of on-site application afterward.
The thermodynamic performance of ocean thermal energy conversion with 1 kg/s geothermal water flow rate as a heat source was evaluated to obtain the basic data for the optimal design of cycle with respect to the classification of the working fluid. The basic thermodynamic model for cycle is rankine cycle and the geothermal water and deep seawater were adapted for the heat source of evaporator and condenser, respectively. R245fa, R134a are better to use as a working fluid than others in view of the use of geothermal water. It is important to select the proper working fluid to operate the ocean thermal energy conversion. So, this paper can be used as the basic data for the design of ocean thermal energy conversion with geothermal water and deep seawater.
A magnetotelluric survey and geological survey have been performed to delineate deeply extended fracture systems at the geothermal field in Seokmo Island, Inchon, Korea. One borehole(BH-1) succeed to meet a large fracture system at the depth of 750 m where approximately $72^{\circ}C$ geothermal water is overflowing, while the other borehole(BH-2), which is about 200 m eastward from BH-1, failed to develop enough geothermal water even at the depth of 1,200m. Though there have been so many electric noise sources around the survey region, good quality of MT data above 1 Hz could be obtained with careful installation, remote reference processing. Inversion of MT data for two lines roughly perpendicular to the two major lineaments respectively show that the two lineaments are related to the fracture systems that are extended at least down to 1.5 km depth and inclined eastwards. From the interpretation, additional drilling for BH-2 is recommended and finally meet the fracture systems at the depth of 1,280 m and resulted in overflow of large amount of geothermal water of temperature $69.4^{\circ}C$ from BH-2.
To investigate the evidence for the influence of sea water on Pohang geothermal groundwater, the chemical data for geothermal groundwaters from which are pumped during 48 hours and other hot groundwaters, another groundwater on the well for the purpose of agriculture, were considered. And to predict possible the secondary mineral which are easily to make the clogging, geochemical modeling was carried out using EQ3NR equilibrium solubility code. The results are that 1.4%~3.3%(bulk composition) of sea water were mixed with geothermal groundwater. From the well logging data, when the level of groundwater is drow down, the conductivity is increased in the geothermal groundwater, the existence of transition zone are recognized in the well. The predicted possible secondary minerals are Antigorite [Mg48Si24O85(OH)62], Chrysolite [Mg3Si2O5(OH)4] , Cristobalite, Dolomite, Talc, Tremolite. The recommended cooling temperature of best condition to minimize the production of secondary minerals is same as temperature of geothermal water pumped from the well.
Alluvium is sedimentary stratum and composed of gravel, sand, silt, clay. Permeability of alluvium is the higher. If alluvium have lots of aquifer, will be of great use heat source and heat sink of heat pump. Alluvium aquifer contain the thermal energy of surrounding ground. Also geothermal heat pump using alluvium aquifer reduce expenses than general geothermal heat pump, because geothermal heat pump using alluvium aquifer make use of single well. In this study geothermal heat pump using alluvium aquifer was installed and tested for a building. The heat pump capacity is 30USRT. Temperature of ground water is in $12{\sim}17^{\circ}C$ annually and the quality of the water is as good as living water. The heat pump cooling COP is 4.4 ~ 4.7. The system cooling COP is 3.25 ~ 3.6. This performance is as good as BHE type ground source heat pump.
Along with socioeconomic development and improving standard of living, the heat demand for heating and cooling in residential and commercial sectors is expected to expand rapidly, reaching over 43 million TOE by 2010 in Korea(about 80% increase compared with that in 1995). Since most of this heat demand is loop temperature below $60^{\circ}C$, the utilization of 'unused energy' is surely one of very effective measures to both environmental preservation and energy conservation. 'Unused energy' in this paper is implicated as 'temperature differential energy' available from treated sewage water, useful and abundant heat source for heat pump(cooler in summer and warmer in winter than outside air). An analysis was carried out to estimate the energy potential of treated sewage water for heat pump heat source. Some analysis were taken to study the characteristics of a heat pump system using the treated sewage water as heat source.
Geothermal water at moderate temperature in a range between 30 to $50^{\circ}C$ exists sparse in surroundings. Mostly they are utilized as heat or water source at spar zones in Korea. However, a large portion of used water is discarded due to its poor recovery quality and inferior application technologies. In this research, an innovative heat pump system based on the hybrid concept that combinate compression cycle and absorption cycle was investigated mathematically. The hybrid heat pump aims to recycle various kind of the heat sources at moderate temperature including geothermal water effectively. The prime objective of the simulation is to design a compression/absorption hybrid heat pump system which can make high temperature above the level of $90^{\circ}C$ and low temperature of $20^{\circ}C$ as well at the same using $50^{\circ}C$ geothermal heat water. As a result, primitive data was provided as a basis to design a prototype 3 RT class hybrid heat pump.
The river water heat source heat pump has the advantage in the performance compared to air source heat pump. In this study, an experimental study on a 2-stage heat pump, which is designed to utilize a river water heat source, were carried out. Generally, a heat pump is designed for maximum capacity rate, but it actually operates at part load condition in most cases. Therefore, an information on the part-load characteristic is very important in view of the system overall performance. In this study, part-load performance tests of a R134a 2-stage compression heat pump were carried out over the river water and supply heating water temperature changes.
In this paper, an experimental study on the cooling operation characteristics for different entering water temperatures in geothermal heat pump system are carried out by using Lab VIEW system program Set-point temperature controls for cooling water and supply air temperatures is applied to analyze the energy consumption and control performances. As a result, the system responses show that different entering water temperatures(EWT) effect greatly on the energy consumption and system COP.
The G-class cement is usually used for geothermal well grouting to protect a steel casing which is equipped in a geothermal well to transfer geothermal water from deep subsurface to ground surface. In geothermal grouting process, obtaining appropriate fluidity is extremely important in order to fill cement grout flawlessly. In this paper, a series of the V-funnel and Slump Flow test was performed on both of the Portland cement and the G-class cement in order to compare fluidity and filling ability of those kind of cements. In the result of V-funnel test, the fluidity of G-class cement was evaluated much better than the Portland cement at the water/cement ratio of 0.8. In the case of Slump Flow test, the fluidity of G- class cement was estimated slightly better than the Portland cement at both the water/cement ratio of 0.55 and 0.8. Even though the initial fluidity and filling ability of G-class cement were relatively higher than the Portland cement, the results could be considerably changed with time. The results show that the fluidity and filling ability for geothermal well cementation can be properly controlled with water content and additives for adverse geothermal well environment.
