  • The road network becomes more complex and extensive. Therefore, the inconveniences are caused in accordance with the time delay of the restoration of damaged roads, demands for excessive costs on information collection, and limitations on acquisition of damage information of the roads. Recently, road centric spatial information is gathered using mobile multi sensor system for road inventory. But expensive MMS(Mobile Mapping System) equipments require high maintenance costs from beginning and takes a lot of time in the data processing. So research is needed for continuous maintenance by collecting and displaying the damaged information on a digital map using low cost mobile camera system. In this research we aim to develop the techniques for mosaic with a regular ground sample distance using successive image from oblique camera on a vehicle. For doing this, mosaic image is generated by estimating the homography of high resolution oblique image, and the ground sample distance and appropriate overlap are analyzed using high resolution aerial oblique images which contain resolution target. Based on this we have proposed the appropriate overlap and exposure interval for mobile road inventory system.

  • Recently, as new paradigm for government operation called government 3.0, government is actively operating policy opening and sharing public data. In addition, the Ministry of Land are operating an open platform integrated map service (the VWorld) which provides a variety of video contents such as the country's national spatial information, traffic information and three-dimensional building for the public. According to W3C Foundation's Open Data Status Report(2013), our country has the evaluated results that the part of the government's policy support and planning is good while the part of the data management is vulnerable. So our country needs the quality improvement for the data management. In addition, a digital aerial photograph image data is required to be up-to-date for the three-dimensional spatial object data. In this paper, we present the method for enhancement of the accuracy of vertical position and for maintainment of up-to-date vertical position. Our methods evaluate the data quality and analyze the cause of error of measurement utilizing the national standard quality assessment method. The result of research shows that the accuracy of vertical position is improved if the height of the building captain is adjusted by the quality assessment values and a three-dimensional model has up-to-date data if reconstruction and extension information of construction register is utilized.

  • This study deals with red tide detection by using the remote sensing imagery from the Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI), the world's first geostationary orbit satellite, around the southern coast of Korea where the most severe red tide occurred recently. The red tide zone was determined by the available data selection from the GOCI imagery during the period of red tide occurrence and also the severe red tide zone was detected through the spatial analysis by temporal change out of the red tide zone. This study results showed that the coast in the vicinity of the Hansan and Yokji in Tongyeong-si was classified into the severe red tide zone, and that the red tide was likely to spread from the coast of Hansan and Yokji to the one of Sanyang-eub. In addition, the comparative analysis between the area of red tide occurrence, the prevention activities of Gyeongsangnam-do provincial government and the amount of the damage cost over time showed close correlation among them. It is still early to conclude that the study is showing the severe red tide zone and the spread path exactly due to various factors for red tide occurrence and activities. In order to improve the reliability of the results, the more data analysis is required.

  • The positioning accuracy of GNSS surveys deteriorates due to various error factor, and many users sometimes ignore Phase Center Variation (PCV) of antennas. IGS provides an ANTEX file which contains PCV correction information to correct for PCVs. But it is not directly applicable because PCV correction information is provided at 5-degree intervals in the azimuth and elevation directions for the case of receiver antennas, and at 1-degree intervals in the nadir angle for the case of satellite antennas. So, we devised new and optimal ways of interpolating PCV in any desired line of sight to the GNSS satellite. We used spherical harmonics fitting methods in terms of the azimuth and elevation angle for interpolation, and found an optimal degree and order. It is shown that the best accuracy was obtained from the 8 by 8 spherical harmonics. If one requires lower burden on computing resources, the order and degree less than 8 could produce resonable accuracy except for 1st and 5th order.

  • Since traffic accidents account for the highest proportion of the artificial disasters which occur in urban areas along with fire, more scientific an analysis on the causes of traffic accidents and various prevention measures against traffic accidents are needed. In this study, the research selected Jinju-si, which belongs to local small and medium-sized cities as a research target to analyze the characteristics of temporal and spacial distribution of traffic accidents by associating the data of traffic accidents, occurred in 2013 with the causes of traffic accidents and location information that includes occurrence time and seasonal features. It subsequently examines the spatial correlation between traffic accidents and the characteristics of urban space development according to the plans of land using. As a result, the characteristics of accident distribution according to the types of accidents reveal that side right-angle collisions (car versus car) and pedestrian-crossing accident (car versus man) showed the highest clustering in the density analysis and average nearest neighbor analysis. In particular, traffic accidents occurred the most on roads which connect urban central commercial areas, high-density residential areas, and industrial areas. In addition, human damage in damage conditions, clear day in weather condition, dry condition in the road condition, and three-way intersection in the road way showed the highest clustering.

  • Network RTK positioning, one of GNSS positioning systems, is currently very popular due to its easy operation and low cost. However, the network RTK positioning unquestioningly accepts observation result acquired with an ambiguity fixed-solution regardless of different field conditions and situations, and then it is applied to the practice. This paper, therefore, has investigated the effects of field conditions obtained network RTK survey data for the area with obstacles on the variation of positioning accuracy. Being explained in detail, after conducting survey by GPS-only positioning and combined GPS/GLONASS observations giving changes to the distance from obstacles and elevation angles, and then accuracy results of each positioning method were compared each other. As a result, while GPS-only point positioning method showed more stable results than combined GPS/GLONASS method in the areas with no obstacles, combined method gave better result than GPS-only for the areas with presence of obstacles. Based on the results of this experiment, when the further study is conducted with a variety of different field conditions affecting the survey accuracy, it can be expected that the accuracy of network RTK survey method would become to more popular.

  • Waste landfill site which is the facility usually rejected by communities is generally perceived as one of the serious social problems. It causes serious conflicts between interested parties from the beginning of the site selection process and produces various difficulties throughout the installation process. This study suggests the systematization and standardization of the landfill site selection process to reduce those problems and to objectify the process. The study process and results are as follows. First, the landfill site selection process was divided into 4 general phases rather than more specific fragmented phases and the requirements for each phase were suggested accordingly. This can make the process clearly organized and bring the standardization of the process by increasing the applicability of each phase for various situations. Second, the utilization of GIS(Geographic Information System) and PAPRIKA (Potentially All Pairwise RanKings of all possible Alternatives) among the various MCDA(Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis) methods was suggested as the objective and scientific method. Third, the hypothetical case study on the landfill site selection process of Cheongju city was conducted based on the information above and the results show the practicability and objectivity of the newly defined landfill site selection process in this study.

  • This study is analyze future climate and land cover change affects behaviors for amount of streamflow and sediment discharge within basin. We used the climate forecast data in RCP 4.5 and 8.5 (2011-2100) which is opposite view for each other among RCP scenarios that are discussed for 5th report for IPCC. Land cover map built based on a social economic storyline in RCP 4.5/8.5 using Logistic Regression model. In this study we set three scenarios: one scenario for climate change only, one for land cover change only, one for Last both climate change and land cover change. It simulated amount of streamflow and sediment discharge and the result showed a very definite change in the seasonal variation both of them. For climate change, spring and winter increased the amount of streamflow while summer and fall decreased them. Sediment showed the same pattern of change steamflow. Land cover change increases the amount of streamflow while it decreases the amount of sediment discharge, which is believed to be caused by increase of impervious Surface due to urbanization. Although land cover change less affects the amount of streamflow than climate change, it may maximize problems related to the amount of streamflow caused by climate change. Therefore, it's required to address potential influence from climate change for effective water resource management and prepare suitable measurement for water resource.

  • Similarity measure of catchments is essential for regionalization studies, which provide in depth analysis in hydrological response and flood estimations at ungauged catchments. However, this similarity measure is often biased to the selected catchments and is not clearly explained in hydrological sense. This study applied a type of hydrological similarity distance measure-Flood Estimation Handbook to 25 Geum River catchments, Korea. Three Catchment Characteristics, Area(A)-Annual precipitation(SAAR)-SCS Curve Number(CN), are used in Euclidian distance measures. Furthermore, six index of Flow Duration Curve are applied to clustering analysis of SPSS. The catchments' grouping of hydrological similarity measures suggests three groups (H1, H2 and H3) and the four catchments are not grouped in this study. The clustering analysis of FDC provides four Groups; F1, F2, F3 and F4. The six catchments (out of seven) of H1 are grouped in F1, while Sangyeogyo is grouped in F2. The four catchments (out of six) of H2 are also grouped in F2, while Cheongju and Guryong are grouped in F1. The catchments of H3 are categorized in F1. The authors examine the results (H1, H2 and H3) of similarity measure based on catchment physical descriptors with results (F1 and F2) of clustering based on catchment hydrological response. The results of hydrological similarity measures are supported by clustering analysis of FDC. This study shows a potential of hydrological catchment similarity measures in Korea.

  • Recently, more accurate database information of facilities is being required, with the increase in importance of urban road facility management. Therefore, this study proposed how to automatically detect particular traffic signs necessary for efficient construction of road facility DB. For this study, central locations of facilities were searched, after recognition and automatic detection of particular traffic signs through an image. Then, coordinate values of traffic signs calculated in the study were compared with real coordinate values, in order to evaluate the accuracy of traffic sign locations which were finally detected. Computer vision technology was used in recognizing and detecting traffic signs through OPEN CV-based coding, and photogrammetry was used in calculating accurate locations of detected traffic signs. For the experiment, circular road signal(No Parking) and triangular road signal(Crosswalk) were chosen out of various kinds of road signals. The research result showed that the circular road signal had a nearly 50cm error value, and the triangular road signal had a nearly 60cm error value, when comparing the calculated coordinates with the real coordinates. Though this result is not satisfactory, it is considered that there would be no problem to find locations of traffic signs.
