The mainly used technique to correct satellite images with geometric distortion is to develop a mathematical relationship between pixels on the image and corresponding points on the ground. Polynomial models with various transformations have been designed for defining the relationship between two coordinate systems. GCP based geometric correction has peformed overall plane to plane mapping. In the overall plane mapping, overall structure of a scene is considered, but local variation is discarded. The Region with highly variant height is rectified with distortion on overall plane mapping. To consider locally variable region in satellite image, TIN-based rectification on a satellite image is proposed in this paper. This paper describes the relationship between GCP distribution and rectification model through experimental result and analysis about each rectification model. We can choose a geometric correction model as the structural characteristic of a satellite image and the acquired GCP distribution.
Accurate localization of target lesion is required to protect normal peripheral tissue and irradiate exactly to tumors in stereotactic radiosurgery(SRS). Digital angiography is one of the most effective diagnostic tools to detect and identify the target tumors. However, it shows pincushion distortion due to the characteristics of the image intensifier. We have implemented a simulation study for the correction of distortion using the geometric transformation. Phantom images were produced transformation. In conclusion, the geometric transformation could effectively be used for the pincushion distortion of image intensifier and there was no significant different between two methods indicating 2% correction error from the ideal image in all cases.
Geometric distortion and shadow effect due to capturing angle could be included in document copy images that are captured by a camera in stead of a scanner. In this paper, a clean black and white document image generation algorithm by distortion correction and shadow elimination based on a camera, is proposed. In order to correct geometric distortion such as straightening un-straight boundary lines occurred by camera lens radial distortion and eliminating outlying area included by camera direction, second derivative filter based document boundary detection method is developed. Black and white images have been generated by adaptive binarization method by eliminating shadow effect. Experimental results of the black and white document image generation algorithm by recovering geometrical distortion and eliminating shadow effect for the document images captured by smart phone camera, shows very good processing results.

The geometric distortion of image is one of the most important parameters that take effect on the accuracy of optical inspection systems. We propose a new correction method of the image distortion to increase the accuracy of PCB inspection systems. The model-free method is applied to correct the randomly distorted image that cannot be represented by mathematical model. To reduce the correction time of inspection system, we newly propose a grid reduction algorithm that minimize the number of grids by the quad-tree approach. We apply the proposed method to a PCB inspection system, and verify its usefulness through experiments using actual inspection images.

Geometric variation including welding distortion accumulates as many parts are joined together, ultimately affecting the final product. This variation is then subjected to correction, which requires considerable effort, time, and cost. This variation can be categorized as in-plane/out-of-plane variation. To date, studies on variation simulation have largely focused on the out-of-plane variation, however the variation generated in the in-plane direction requires more time and efforts to correct afterwards. This research aims to construct a variation simulation model considering both the in-plane and out-of-plane variations. A geometric analysis was performed to derive an equation that reflects the coupling effect of the out-of-plane variation on the in-plane variation. The proposed model is validated with case study analysis and the results shows that good fidelity in predicting and diagnosing the in-plane variation during the block assembly process considering welding distortion.
This paper describes the implementation of document image restoration system for the geometric distortion using structured light. To get accurate document images, the bounded book must be flattened by pushing down the book with a class plate. However, most of ancient documents are too fragile to be pushed. The proposed system restores the distorted character image due to geometric distortion.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore the importance of the image distortion correction in the cross sectional area measurement for the iliopsas muscle, tensor fasciae latae muscle, gluteus maximus muscle and the knee extensor muscles, by using (magnetic resonance imaging) MRI. Methods: This study was performed using an open 0.32T MRI system. To estimate the image distortion, T1 images for an AAPM homogeneity/linearity phantom were acquired, and the region in which the maximum geometric distortion was less than or equal to the pixel size (1.6 mm) of the images, it was defined as the distortion correction-free region. The T2 images for a human subject's pelvis and thigh in normal positions were obtained. Then, after the regions of interest in the pelvis and thigh were moved into the distortion correction-free region, T2 images for the pelvis and thigh were scanned with the same imaging parameters used in the previous T2 imaging. The cross-sectional areas were measured in the two T2 images that were obtained in the normal position, and the distortion correction-free region, as well as the area error caused by geometric image distortion was calculated. Results: The geometrical distortion is gradually increased, from the magnet center to the outer region, in axial and coronal plane. The cross-sectional area error of gluteus maximus muscle and the knee extensors was as high as 9.27% and 3.16% in before and after distortion correction, respectively. Conclusion: The cross-sectional area of the muscles that suffered from the geometrical distortion is necessary to correct for the estimation of the intervention.

This paper presents machine vision technique with a camera modeling that accounts for major sources of camera distortion, namely, radial, decentering, and thin prism distortion. Radial distortion causes an inward or outward displacement of a given image point from its ideal location. Actual optical systems are subject to varios degrees of decentering, that is,the optical centers of lens elements are not strictly collinear. Thin prism distortion arises form imperfection in lens design and manufacturing as well as camera assembly. It is our purpose to develop the vision system for the pattern recognition and the automatic test of and to apply the line of part manufacturing.
Due to the fact that fisheye lens can provide super wide angles with the minimum number of cameras, field-of-view over 180 degrees, many vehicles are attempting to mount the camera system. Not only use the camera as a viewing system, but also as a camera sensor, camera calibration should be preceded, and geometrical correction on the radial distortion is needed to provide the images for the driver's assistance. In this thesis, we introduce a geometric correction technique to minimize the loss of the image data from a vehicle fish-eye lens having a field of view over $180^{\circ}$, and a asymmetric distortion. Geometric correction is a process in which a camera model with a distortion model is established, and then a corrected view is generated after camera parameters are calculated through a calibration process. First, the FOV model to imitate a asymmetric distortion configuration is used as the distortion model. Then, we need to unify the axis ratio because a horizontal view of the vehicle fish-eye lens is asymmetrically wide for the driver, and estimate the parameters by applying a non-linear optimization algorithm. Finally, we create a corrected view by a backward mapping, and provide a function to optimize the ratio for the horizontal and vertical axes. This minimizes image data loss and improves the visual perception when the input image is undistorted through a perspective projection.
The existing watermarking techniques for copyright protection of a digital image are fragile in geometric distortion and it is hard to detect whether it was manipulated artificially. In this paper, we proposed the new copyright protection system that can authorize a digital mage and :an embed or extract a robust watermark in a artificial manipulation in order to solve these problems. In a watermarking part, the proposed a watermarking technique embeds a watermark in a phase component after a Complex Wavelet Transform (CWT) with an original image, and a watermark is extracted from an watermarked image by stages. A copyright about an image can be insisted on than a threshold after comparing a correlation of an original watermark with an extracted watermark if large. In an authentication part of a digital image, EZW (Embedded Zerotree Wavelet) is used, and an authentication cord of an watermarked image is generated. An authentication code of an image to have been distribute to is compared with a generated authentication cord, and artificial operation isn´t than a threshold if large. The proposed copyright protection system through performance evaluation display that it was robust in geometric distortion and a artificial operation was able to be detected.
